I haven't flown them, but a friend has flown them to Orlando. She and her family had a good experience. Keep in mind that they do not fly into Orlando International (MCO), but into Sanford airport so that may affect your transportation cost.
I am trying Allegiant for the first time for a disney trip as they started flights into Clearwater St. Pete and we got round trip tickets for $90 each. Couldn't pass it up. Allegiant charges for carry ons and also for picking your seats. we have a 7 and a 2 year old and our travel agent said she has never had them not put families together but we paid the $18 per person each way to get seated together. The thing that concerns me is they only have one flight and if something goes wrong you are not able to just jump on another flight. It is a give and take, I don't expect as much as I would from a regular airline but I was willing to put up with it for the reduced price. Heck we have our flight which is now direct and a stretched Limo from Tampa to Disney and back for at least $500 less than if we flew On Delta or United.
My sister a few years ago and a neighbor last year used them into Sanford and they were very happy.
I replied on your other thread, but just for other people who are wondering:
We haven't flown to Orlando, but we've flown Allegiant to Ft. Lauderdale a few times. They do nickel and dime you, but if you aren't taking a lot of baggage and don't need a lot of extras, they are a good choice. We used to drive 90 minutes to the closest airport they served and still saved a ton of money. They're expanding next year to the airport 20 minutes from our house and we're really excited!
A friend of mine swears by Allegiant. She travels from here (southwest FL) to Chicago a few times a year on Allegiant. I have personally never used them, but she loves them.
Allegiant does fly into MCO.We used that airline in 2012 after deciding that instead of flying out of PHL with USAir, the cheaper fare and direct flight from Lehigh Valley made better sense. In 2008 I also used Allegiant from Lehigh Valley to fly into the Sanford airport as there was no MCO access then.
I commented in '08 and then again in '12 that they were single-handedly the best flights I'd ever been on, and I do believe that that says a lot as I've been flying since I was 6-months-old. The entire crew, from the pilot on down, were exceptionally friendl and incredibly helpful. The flights were also very smooth and in all of my flight experience the '12 landing at MCO was the best touchdown I'd ever had - it was SO smooth that I didn't know we had landed until I realized we were taxiing down the runway to the terminal.![]()
Help - found the cheap flight but nervous about booking!
I have flown them in and out of Vegas a few times. Great airline. Never flew to Floruda, but since the just opened direct flights to Tampa/Clearwater from my local airport, we probably will be doing so. Let us know how it goes. Good luck!
We flew twice the last year on Allegiant, ABE to Sanford, no MCO flights from ABE or another local airport.. One flight was back to a different airport an in two hrs we were at baggage claim.
For the two hr flight you really do not need anything, but do prepay your baggage fees. The weight is 40 lb, not 50 lb so I took the 26 inch not he 28 in luggage. The overhead bin is a fee, but not the backpack under the seat.
If weather or breakdown is a factor, there are no other flights hat day. But, or the savings I do not worry. I like no love, the smaller airports hey fly from for the small TSA lines. Also, getting to gates is so much easer then a mle walk!
I also agree, our 2012 landing may have been the smaller flight or hey have great crew because you felt like a cushion landing, on the dime. It is a bit longer to drive back to he airport, but you gain that many times over with small security lines over the tremendous ones at MCO.
Oh, we always had the younger kids sitting with us. Get to check in early. If you are late arrival you get when you can, but a passenger may give an exchange. I was unsure about how I felt until we just did USAir/MCO recently.
Renting a car was no problem, just keep checking the rates.![]()

I don't know when that changed then, because in April 2012 we flew direct from ABE to MCO. The direct flight was the only reason why we decided on ABE instead of our typical 2½ drive to fly out of PHL on USAir.
