I am booking a flight for DH's uncle on Allegiant and their money is tight so I want to make sure I have all of the fee info correct!

His flight is $123.50. He is only taking a personal item, so no charge for a bag. He doesn't care where he sits, so no seat choice fee. We'll print his boarding pass here so no fee for that.

Any other fees I am missing?

Personal item is the bag that fits completely under the seat in front of him. Make sure of this, as the charge if it has to go overhead onboard is probably even higher than when it's prepaid - like Spirit.

Thanks! I did make him aware of this and, if he is bringing the bag I think he is, it is the size of a ladies purse. Actually, I think it is a purse. I've never flown Allegiant or any airline that adds fees, so I just want to make sure I prepare him! Plus he is a bit crotchety and argumentative so I don't want him to get into an argument with anyone from the airline!

You can actually try and do the reservation and see all the fees up until it's time to put in your cc info :) you'll get an idea before you purchase.

Luggage fees is the biggest surprise for those appearing a the terminal without reviewing all the charges.

Something else to consider.... if the plane is delayed or cancelled. Those buying their insurance will get priority on the next plane. This helped me greatly on a trip when my flight was cancelled for mechanical difficulties, those without insurance had to wait for a 2nd or 3rd plane.

Wow! That's very interesting! At our airport they only fly out twice a week so that would totally stink!

DH's uncle came over last night and apparently his wife got him a flight from an airport 2.5 hours from here. His daughter is coming to bring him so I'm off the hook!

I had never looked at Allegiant before but found out that Southwest is almost always cheaper for us, if we book in advance. We have a toddler so sitting together is important. Also, being able to make changes is important. So are checked luggage and carryons! With all the fees a random day in July comes out to $219.50 each way, per person. Southwest is $148 and there are multiple flights that day so if something happens on our end or theirs we have options. Very interesting!

But I think I would try it if I were in a situation like DH's uncle, traveling alone with no luggage.

Doesn't Allegiant only fly into Sanford? If so, transportation to and from the airport will cost more than to and from MCO. No ME for Sanford and it's father away from WDW. Be sure to factor that into your cost calculations.

Make sure he either has a way to print his return boarding pass or can show it on his smartphone for the return trip or he'll be charged at the airport for that. Otherwise, the price you see should be correct.

I've flown Allegiant 3 times due to cost. DH and I went to Disney last month for $500 round trip total, and that included picking seats, a checked bag, and Trip Flex. We've had good experiences every time. Only 1 out of the 6 flights was late, and that was only 1 hour so not that big of a deal. I like being able to customize what I do and don't want to pay for.

Thanks everyone! He would have just been flying down there one way because he lives on the east coast of Florida.
