Allegiant Air

We flew from Greensboro, NC to Sanford in 2008 and had no problems. We rented a car from downstairs (forget the name of the rental place). I would fly them again!!

Hi dansyr! Lower Saucon here! I was all set to book Airtran from ABE to MCO but their flights have gone up alost $100 per ticket in the last few days, so I've been looking at Allegiant. All the fees are confusing me - so the conveniece fee of $15 per person - is that they only fee waived if I go book at ABE directly? I see there is $13.99 per person, per flight for seat assignment (which I will need, I'm traveling alone with 2 kids, so I want to guarantee that we're sitting together) and the $6.99 Priority Boarding fee (which I also think I need, we only travel with carry-ons & if their overhead space is gone by the time we board I will have to pay to check our carry-ons )....are either of these $13.99 or $6.99 fees waived if I book at ABE? If they are, then it's worth my time to go over to ABE (about 20-25 min. for me depending on 378 traffic). If it's just the $15 pp convenience fee, then I'm not sure it's worth it just to save $45.

Hi Neighbor,

I see by the time I got a chance to get on here....you pretty much have it figured out. The only suggestion I would make is.....If you want to save a little money, don't pick priority boarding. If there is no room for you carry on when you get on the plane...they check it at the entrance to the plane for free. This happened to us twice. We didn't mind...unless you are in a hurry and don't want to wait for the checked luggage to come off the plane when you land.

Oh and sometimes paying the convenience fee is worth it if you find great prices and and you don't have to brave rush hour 378 traffic.

I would also suggest not paying for seats. I travel with my 4 kids and have not had any problems. Just get to the airport early and they will assign your seats. It's not like Southwest where you have pick a seat once you get on the plane. Allegiant has always assigned the seats when we check in.

Hi Neighbor,

Oh and sometimes paying the convenience fee is worth it if you find great prices and and you don't have to brave rush hour 378 traffic.

Totally! And the price may change by the time you get there. I found the deal yesterday about 11am, talked DH into it at lunch and booked by 2pm. My boss who I shared the deal with was going to book as well and when we pulled it back up for her about 6pm the $9.99 flights were gone, replaced with $29.99 which is still great deal, but not as good as I got. If I would have waited until I got off and drove the 30 min to the airport I would have paid more than I did paying the convience fee online.

FWIW for my rental car delima I booked it thru allegiant as well, came out to be $127 vs the $200+ every where else was quoting. So allegiant has all around saved me money this week. :thumbsup2

Flying into Sanford, set up your transportation ahead of time. Taxis one way to disney will run you $130.00. You can find good car service for around $180.00 round trip. Go to the Sanford web site and look up the transportation link. Most of the major rental car companies are there.

We have used Allegiant Air four times with no problems, no delays. We never pay for the priority boarding or assigned seats. We did rent a car each time, but I checked the rates thru Allegiant and Expedia and have used a different rental car each time depending on who has the best rates. Even with the rental car, the cost was still less than the major airlines from our airport (GSP).
