Good morning everyone,
Has anyone flown with Allegiant Air. I was checking out the rates leaving from Plattsburg Ny direct flight. 4 tickets would cost us 1000.00$ only. I f we left from Montreal it would cost us at least 2800.00 $ direct flight. Plus with Allegiant you can rent a car for the price of getting transport from Sanford to your resort. It looks to good to be true. We were dreaming about having a car so we can go check out Universal on 1 day as well as doing groceries stops. We wouldn't feel trapped on Disney properties, we could actually go explore what is outside of disney..... What do you guys think?:surfweb:

Did you price Jet Blue out of Burlington Vermont.

They have direct flights and fly into MC0.

They have a direct flight that leaves around 8:00 a.m. in the morning.

Thank you eveningsong. I did and it is about 300-400$ more than Allegiant without a car. I do like that with Jetblue , they do leave earlier instead of in the evening. I still have a while to decide. Their are pros and cons for both... We will see after they come out with the price list for feb-march 2009 price list.;)

I'm planning my family trip (6 people) for Jan/Feb 2009 trip :goodvibes from Montreal to Disney and I have the same dilemma...

pro and cons that I have so far

From Plattsburgh:

Pros
-flights seems to be always cheap
-Closer to montreal
-direct route, all highways
-free parking
-Flight is later in the day, don't have to sleep there the night before.
-can stop for groceries. (if you rent a car)

Cons:
-flys in to Sanford, no ME bus
-Flights only Monday and Fridays
-Have to rent a car. 1hr away from WDW
-Arrives in florida at 10pm :scared1:

From Burlington

PROS:
-daily departures
-Jetblue- airline check in at Disney. (so we don't have to carry our bags on the way back)
-Goes to MCO- ME
-arrives early FL

CONS:
-2hrs aways from MTL
-Will have to sleep in hotel the night before (departure 8:30am)
-price varie, cannot predict the price.
-Parking 8$ a day.

I may have miss a few... It seem we have alot to consider since we are travelling with 3 adults and 3 ds (6-6-8) :dance3:

any advice / opinions

By the way if rent a car (National or Almo) from Sanford aiport you don't have to keep for the lenght of your stay. You can return it at Disney car care center or at the dolphin. Then rent it on your ways back. Or take a transportation service.

I believe Allegiant Air charges for every piece of checked luggage. So you would have to put that in your dollar equation.

There are several hotels near the Burlington airport that offer the overnight package with free parking for the duration of your trip.

I checked the web, the fine print does says: "A convenience fee of $9.50 per traveling customer will be applied when booked on allegiantair.com or through an Allegiant Air call center. Travel purchased through Allegiant Air call centers will cost an additional $10.00 per segment. A checked baggage fee per bag, per segment will apply for customers checking bags."

I forgot to check the fine (very fine) print :confused3

The Holiday inn they charge 110$/night or a package w/parking for up to 3 weeks @ 160$/night.

Hi,
we are a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 kids) and we also find that flying from Montreal is too expensive. We have started to go through Burlington and LOVE it, We stay overnight at a hotel and get a parknfly rate, usually costs only 110$ or so, and includes shuttle to and from the airport as well as parking our whole vacation. We usually fly out on the first flight of the AM and get to Disney by 1:00pm, then can enjoy the day. This year we tried something different, at xmas, we found great airfare out of albany, NY which is definitely further, but we found such a great rate on southwest we made an extra trip to disney (woohoo), and the flights were also direct, another benefit. We love driving over the border and passing through customs that way, saves sooo much time, instead of passing customs at the airport. The rates are great for southwest, and they fly into MCO. Just thought it might be worth it for you to check that option out, since it gives you one more cheaper option, altough the drive is about 3 hours, possibly 3 1/2.
hope this helps, good luck whatever you decide,
marli:)
