My fiance and I are going to Disney for our honeymoon, and we are considering flying with Allegiant Air. They have the cheapest rates, and they are leaving at the right time. Has any flown with them? Or have any thoughts?

Thanks! :thumbsup2

I know there are a lot of people that have happily flown with Allegient Air. The one thing to keep in mind is that they don't fly into MCO, they fly into Sanford. Sanford is a very nice, manageable airport. WE used it when we flew PanAm. But, DME doesn't pick up there and it is more expensive for the town car services also. But if I were renting a car, and could find a good fare at a good time with them, I would have no issue flying into Sanford.

We just returned from a trip to Disney using Allegiant Air from Des Moines to Orlando and back. We had absolutely no problems using Allegiant. We used Dollar car rental to rent a mini van, which was extremely convenient because the pick-up was right on site of Sanford Airport. We don't like using Disney transportation with small kids because the waits can be quite long and the vehicles are usually extremely crowded. I would recommend Allegiant as a no-frills airline.

We just got back from WDW and we also used Allegiant Air. I have nothing but great things to say about them and the Orlando/Sanford airport. We will definitely use them next time.

Smaller airports are unquestionably nicer to fly to. However thre is something to be said for the fact that larger airports offer you more "backup" options for other flights, car rentals etc when something goes wrong. You may have already researched prices and Allegiant may have the best airfare right now from your area but if you can't tolerate a delay in getting to your destination or on your return flight you might be better served to fly to and from an airport that offers more options. Also you can't rely on getting the best price by picking one of the so called discount airlines. To get the cheapest air fare you have to keep checking the airlines websites and travel websites until you get an idea of the airfares from your location. I have flown on American, Delta, Southwest, US Airways, JetBlue, Aer LIngus, British Airways and I have no particular allegiance to any of them. I get a sense of the average airfare between my home area and my destination and then pick the airline that is cheapest for the time period that I need to fly. Best advice I could give (and I would give it to my own daughter) is to plan way ahead in checking your airfares and don't assume any one airline has the absolute lowest airfare. Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. I never used Southwest for years because they never had a better airfare at the time I chose to buy my ticket. But I am flying with them my next trip because their airfare is $50 lower than the competitors. It is a lot of fun to plan trips. Start checking and re-checking and best of luck!

We also used Allegiant from Des Moines. The direct flight was great. The Sanford Airport is very quiet as they lost a carrier. In fact, Allegiant was the only carrier in our terminal.

I really liked using Allegiant.

I'm glad to hear this! I used SWA for my last WDW trip, but had to drive 3 hours to the airport. My local airport has just gotten Allegiant, and the prices are great! No SWA at local airport, and traditional airlines were around $100-200 more per ticket. So, I'm excited and can't wait to try Allegiant!
