Good luck! We are also using Allegiant air, but flying out of Portsmouth, NH. We used Thrifty via the sam's club code. We got something like a Chrysler Pacifica for 9 days for $318. Renting a car here is definately more expensive than at mco.

Do you now how far Sanford is to the Disney Resorts???? Did you choose Sanford/Allegiant Air b/c of the price? Il have to check the prices f/Worcester. Last time i check though i didnt like the time of the returning home flight. 7:30 am..... UGH!! :sad2:

Sanford is about a 45 minute drive to WDW, sometimes a bit longer depending on time of day. The route (417) is much less traveled than 528 and I-4 from MCO and takes your around the city rather than driving straight through it. The flip side is that Sanford airport is tiny and MUCH easier to navigate, VERY quick to get in and out of. So the time you spend driving further is easily made up by quickly getting to your gate.

We flew out of Worcester on PanAm back in '01. It was wonderful. Sanford is a very nice, user friendly airport. It took us about 50 minutes to get to POR, but we had a towncar service pick us up, so I can't tell you about the actual drive.

Yes, we chose it because of the prices. It might be worth it for you to drive to Portsmouth though. We fly out at 3:10 and arrive at 6:05pm. I was told there was free parking at the airport as well.

I live in Worcester and the Allegient flights out are fine but the return flights seem to be all early morning flights and some days there are no flights at all.For Thanksgiving week I could get a flight out the Sunday before for 74.00 but as for return flights they only have Sat or Sun flights and they are 224.00. We usually come back on Monday and there are no flights for that day. Just be careful. Check SW out of Providence the flight times are much better, just as cheap and the parking isn't very expensive either and you will fly directly into MCO.Much easier in my opinion.Good Luck and have a great trip. :)

We leave at 6:40pm and arrive at 9:55pm. I know its a bit late, but we just added a day early and staying off property for that time.

I used to teach in Sanford before moving back to MA. The airport is small and easy to navigate, but it can take quite a while to get to Disney based on the traffic situation. It typically would take me 40 minutes to get home from work and I lived another 40 minutes from WDW so the afternoon-early evening hour commute is rough.

As far as the car rental goes...

It might be cost effective to do a one day rental at the Sanford Airport and then rent a car closer to the parks for the remainder of your stay.

Also, while parking is free in Portsmouth, it is relatively cheap in Manchester (at least compared to Boston). Southwest has great fares to MCO and you can then use the Magic Express for free transportation to the parks.

There would be a few benefits to this in that it would be cheaper to park in Manchester than it would be to rent a car. Also, my inlaws fly Allegiant and since there is only one flight a day they only fly full and they have had their trip postponed 2 times in the past year.
