All you above ground pool owners is this a good price?

We have a deck off our sunroom leading to the pool which I loved until I saw the deck above. Holy crap! That is gorgeous!!! I'll be showing him those pictures and after he is done w/ the fence that will be next!

I don't think you can go wrong w/ a pool. It took yrs for me to agree to a pool (and that was only if it was attached to the home/deck) and I'm so glad we did it.

I just wanted to add....we are in Massachusetts therefore our "season" is short. We are in the process of getting propane heat for our 21 footer. I was surprised that the cost would only run around 1800$ for install and equipement. That seemed reasonable to me. Just thought where as we were talking about pools people may be interested.

Or you could switch to an in ground :-)

Wow your pool looks great! Around how much does something like that cost?

given we bought ours 12 years ago..........we bought in January-1200.00 for the last year's model- only the box was different

ladder, pump, skimmer and pole, vacuum, and hoses all included

we paid 350? for the guys to level and install and 250 for the electric-
plug for the pump, plug outside and a timer in the garage.
dh dug the trench to save us money.

we have had to replace the pump and the liner and upgraded to a plastic ladder, skimmer basket cracked this year-we had to replace that-not big $$

18 round-5" deep

we knew nothing about pools- we knew what our budget was and stuck to it-when we replaced the pump and liner we bought better quality ones.

the fun you will have with your family is going to be great!
my kids at the time were so little I couldn't take them in the pool together.

Now they are 14,15,18 and their friends still come over and they pool hop.
My friends come over and hang out- bbq, makes for good Sunday afternoon memeories!:yay:

I'd be a little concerned w/ a company who can install in two days (JMHO)

With the current state of the economy lots of luxury item companies have had their waitlist evaporate. The demand for pools has probably plunged this year. It may simply be that. :)

We have a 27 inch above ground round pool that is 5 feet deep all around. I believe we paid 3600 for it and it came with everything (pump, filter, liner that I picked out and everything else needed to go with a pool). It was the best investment we ever made and the kids love it! We also bought our jacuzzi at the same time and we love that as well. My husband and I built a deck around our pool over the past couple of months and it came out great. Here are some pictures.

Wow! What a wonderful deck. :)

Here is a photo of our backyard give me some ideas on what we can do as far as a deck if we put in an above ground pool. The height of the deck is a lil over 5 ft tall at the back. The length of the deck is 39" long and its 12" to he cut out of the back part of the house in the photo. Id like something like taking away the white rails and stepping the deck down to the top of the pool and have as much room near the house for table chairs ect and maybe putting a deck all the way around the pool for cleaning but maybe just something like 2-3" or so give me some ideas guys. Im also thinking about a rectangle shape pool to use as much space of the back deck also.

DH installed our pool and built the deck. He took pictures for a friend who was recently installing a pool. These were taken before we took the cover off. It will give you an idea how we built our deck.

This is how we get the pool cover on and off during the winter. We unscrew the first set of boards.

These were taken at my DD's B-day party last year.

I paid around 5k for a 28 ft pool but that was in 2004. In ground pools add better value to your home but can be really expensive and if you have a liner leak it can turn into a real nightmare.

Many above ground pool companies only offer kits and do not actually install the pools themselves. This is where the biggest differential in pricing comes from. an above ground kit will cost anywhere from $1500 to $4500 on average. The installation on the other hand can run between $1000 and $3000 and is not typically factored in with the price of a so called kit. It is best whenever possible to find a company that will provide the kit as well as the installation unless you are able to install the pool yourself. Here are some lists of discount above ground pools and supplies.

Back in Fall 2006, we bought a 21' round by 52" high installed for $2500 (it included EVERYTHING including a solar cover and winter cover). We bought it through Great Escape in the fall when they were offering free installation - though it didn't get installed until the next Spring 2007. The only extra cost was paying an electrician ($75) to run an electric line from the pool to our home (to run the pump, etc.).

We did pay extra for a "pool light" which you need to install before you fill it up for the first time. You need a pool light for safety if you want to swim when it's dark. It's lights up the water.

p.s. There is no way I would try and install a pool myself. They had to cut out sod, dig down 4" or so and level out the ground and add sand. I think they finished the job in two days. The installer drove this small bob-cat to cut out the ground.
