All WDW All The Time

One year we stayed off site and went to Sea World on our first day and checked in to the BC the next. My DD was 2 at the time. We went to see Shamu and sat in the handicapped section with my mom. We got drenched even though we were out of the "splash zone". The camcorder was ruined (in the case at the time). My DD talked about "Bad, bad Shamu" the rest of the trip to anyone who would listen. We had to go back to the hotel to wring out our fishy underwear and it was COLD (December). No, no one in our family wants to go back and that was 9 years ago. Just our experience.

Another trip, we went to Universal for the day with friends. I spent the whole day missing the mouse. So from now on, we just go to WDW, park, and hate to leave at the end of the trip.

We go once a year and I have no desire to leave Disney property. My brother and his family live in Sanford (about 45 minutes from Disney) and I won't even go spend the night with them. We could stay there free of charge but when I'm on vacation I insist of being totally surrounded by everything Disney so that means staying on Disney property!!!

We have made dozens of trips to WDW and never left property(except to run some errands). I have always said, I'm not a theme park fan, I'm a Disney fan:earsboy: I would dread going off site to go to another park.

What!?! You mean there is something else to do in Orlando besides Disney? I had no idea!!!!

Donnajon--
You beat me to it! What other parks? I know how to get to WDW, the airport, the pharmacy (don't ask) and Winn-Dixie. No desire to do anything else...

We've gone twice, planning a 3rd trip for this fall, and we never leave Disney property once we enter it, execpt to return home. US/IOA has no appeal for me for some reason.

Wow, I'm amazed, lol. I can't imagine going anywhere and not acually checking it all out. We've been 3 times, been to WDW (3times), USF/IOA (3times) , Seaworld (once), Busch (this coming trip in Feb), Kissimee old town, did Int-drive one day (Ripleys, wonderworks, skull mountain, etc), and just drove around and checked Orlando out. Stayed onsite once and offsite the rest of the time....guess we like to try everything at least once :)

I should clarify that I've done everything that you listed above at one time or other (most of the stuff was when I was with my college swim team, as we used to go to Orlando for training over Christmas break every year, and I generally didn't have enough extra $$ to slip away to WDW on my own, even for a day), and now that I've experienced a lot of the incredible variety Orlando has to offer, WDW is far and away my favorite. :D

We have been a dozen times & never left WDW. It's not that I don't want to see USO/IOA, I really do - but even on the 10+ day trips, there just doesn't seem to be time....

I'm thinking maybe this summer, a day or two at USO/IOA - I really, really want to ride Hulk & DD (of course, this is the 3rd or 4th time I've said that!)

I have been in Orlando about ten times and every single trip I usually visit all major parks, including USO and IOA. I am a Disney lover but I think one day in each park is enough. That is because I arrive before opening and stay all day at the parks, until closing. USO and IOA, can be done both in only one day (off season). Sea World is another beautiful park, good for all ages. Discovery Cove is a must do once in a lifetime (expensive, I know, but just once). Busch Gardens is a lot of fun, but not for every trip.

With that said, I think Disney parks are in a higher level, not because of the rides, but because of the live shows, music and entertainment, that make me want to come back again and again, such as Tarzan Rocks, Legend of Lion King, Voices of Liberty, For for a Dollar, Beauty and the Beast, Epcot Vybe, Fantasmic, Illumination, Philarmagic, Fantasy in the Sky... (I miss a lot the Hunchback of Notredame, can´t understand why they closed such a good show forever)

Also, talking about food, you can´t compare Disney with other parks. Great variety and quality.

I'm Disney only. Shoot. I've gone a bunch oftime and I still haven't done everything. Maybe when my kids get in their teens, they might want to go to IOA, but they'll have to pay

We have been about 12 times in the last 4 years for 4 -10 days each time and have never left Disney property. We keep saying we are going to take a trip to Universal or Sea World, but just can't seem to do it!

Me too! We flirt with the idea, but in the end we can't tear ourselves away from Disney. We enjoy the shows and the restaurants and the atmosphere as much as the rides, and are not huge thrill seekers, although we enjoy a thrill here and there, so Disney suits us perfectly. I know many people enjoy the thrills and I'm glad there is a place for them at Universal.

::yes:: Exactly. We went this past year for 9 nights and I could have easily stayed another week :teeth:

We're heading down for our fourth all Disney vacation next month. When we go to Disney, we stay at Disney and do only Disney. If we want to see something else in Florida (St. Augustine, Space Coast, Universal), we book a separate trip.

Kungaloosh!
Morticia.

My family has no desire to go anywhere else! We schedule at vacation at WDW to STAY at WDW.
The one side-trip I would recommend is to Vero Beach Resort. The grounds are spectacular, the ocean is wonderful, and it is a relaxing way to end a trip.

What is Epcot Vybe and Voices Of Liberty?

They are both acapella groups that perform at the American Adventure pre-show at Epcot Center. They are wonderful.

When I read this thread...listening to the newbies and young adults here, then count the years....reality truly sets in and I realize that I am in the autumn of my life..Ahhhh

DH and I have been going to WDW for 34 years..sometimes 2-3 times per year... every year. We had no children, except the child in us. Such wonderful memories..and WOW..when the Poly was $42. per night!

We had never visited U or SW. There is just too much to do @ Disney! We would always stay 7-15 days and have a relaxing vacation. Enjoy the pool, horseback riding, fishing on the lake, Empress Lilly Riverboat dining (like V@A..now Fulton's Crab House) @ DTD, Live Dinner Show @ the "Top of the World" in the Contemporary, now CG., golf, and great pina colada's @ the Poly bar..now Ohana's...and much etc..

Since DH is gone, I now take my extended family and..yes..I have been to U & SW about 3 times and thats quite enough for me. I will go again its just sooo much fun watching the kids enjoy the thrill rides!!

people don't stop playing because they have grown old...they have grown old because they have stopped playing!!

Epcot Vybe has moved. Now they're performing over by the entrance to WS, between the 2 gift shops there-I forget what that area's called. But the last time I was there, 3 weeks ago, the CM at the stand outside American Adventure told me when I was asking for them.

It's not unusual for us! If I go for Disney, I want Disney! We lived in Florida for years and went to all the Orlando stuff (we only lived 45 minutes from there) but there is just nothing like it. To me, if you want all the other tourist stuff, stay off site and do nothing but. There really is SO much to do in the area. But my choice is...Disney all the way or no Disney at all.
