All VGC or split it up?

What would you do?:

5 nights at VGC, with 3 days at DL/CA and a few side trips (maybe Universal, San Diego, etc)

or

2 nights near Universal and 3/4 nights at VGC

I guess the primary question is do you consider Universal worthy of a carve out stay, or should we base ourselves at VGC and venture forth a few times? We've been to Universal Orlando plenty of times. We're coming from the East Coast...

Personally, I would stay all 5 nights at VGC, but I'm biased. We love the villas! If you decide to go to San Diego, I would probably stay down there for a night, but for Universal, I would still stay VGC.

OK - looks like we are landing on the following plan...would welcome any suggestions, criticisms, expressions of disbelief, casting of aspersions, etc...

Day 1 (Sunday)
Fly to LGB, 2PM arrival
Limo service to VGC (decided to stay for whole trip!)
Dinner at Storyteller's Cafe
Evening - walk around resort, maybe hit DTD or CA for a few hours

Day 2
Breakfast at Whitewater Snacks
Rent car at Alamo DTD
Sightseeing in Hollywood, Venice Beach, etc
Return rental car

Day 3
Breakfast - WW Snacks
DL
Lunch - Blue Bayou
Dinner - Bengal BBQ
Fantasmic - reserved seating package w/dessert box

Day 4
Breakfast - WW Snacks
CA
Lunch - Pacific Wharf
Dinner - Wine Country Trattoria (WOC package)
World of Color

Day 5
Breakfast - WW Snacks
DL/CA "greatest hits"
Lunch - La Brea Bakery
DTD
Dinner - Napa Rose

Day 6
Breakfast - WW Snacks
Check out VGC
Rent car at Alamo DTD
Drive to and tour San Diego
Back to LGB for red eye home to East Coast

We love USH since we are big film buffs and I would stay the length at the Villas. Our first stay there was last Aug and it can not be beat.
