All value resorts full on dec 3rd? something going on?

Well I found out that I am giving a paper at a conference in orlando and while i was shoping for a hotel in the area i realized value resorts durring value season were only a couple dollars more then the lowest hotel near my conference hotel... since i have to rent a car anyway I am like what the heck i will stay at WDW!

well i made reservations last november(2004) for the second week of dec(2004) last year without a hitch so i figured i would be able to do it this time around... i guess not. I was going to fly in on the 3rd of Dec in the morning. I played with the dates a little and found out i could get rooms on the 4th (however conference starts that day ) So my question is is there any big event going on around the third that is preventing me from getting a room or is the world just going to be pretty busy?

I noticed this problem, too! I just booked a trip arriving on Nov 27th and leaving on Dec 2nd. If I tried to extend it to include the 3rd, nothing but Old Key West came up! There is hardly a room available that one night, Saturday Dec 3rd. Other people have posted the same problem with availability for that one night. People have speculated that rooms are booked for the Christmas parade, or just locals coming in for Christmas decorations, or Mousefest. Either way, looks like these rooms are booked and going to stay booked.

Question. . . what is mousefest/mousefeast (saw it spelled both ways, I think)? Just curious since we are arriving on the 3rd. I had my heart set on Wilderness Lodge, (booked in August) and all that was left was concierge level (hubby - WDW virgin would have had a stroke if I paid that much). We got AKL savannah view through AAA.

Hope Epcot isn't too crowded on 12/3. We are arriving early and figured we would go there. Don't want to get the kids too wound up since they will have been up since 6am. And sure don't want to hear the "I told you so's" from the husband about it being busy, so we will steer clear of MK.

I'm wondering too. My DH will be at a conference too, and I'm trying to book those dates for us also. Does this mean the parks will be overly crowded? I'm having trouble even getting any restaurant booked for that time. Looks like we may be staying offsite...

Also what is mousefest? I've never heard of that.

still cant manage to get one yarrr.... debating staying off site for one day and back on the next three... are pop warner kids starting that week? and do they stay in all 4 value resorts? i have never stayed at the PC was thinking about it.

This year you had to sign up to be an extra http://lightshiptv.com/parade/ . Unfortunately, it looks like all spots have been filled.

As to availability, Pop Warner teams still have one more competition and one more football game before anyone knows who's going. My guess is that Disney has a lot of rooms "blocked". Once they have concrete numbers, I'm sure you'll see some of the extras put back into inventory. Unfortunately, that might not happen until the Tuesday or Wednesday after Thanksgiving.

So it isnt a set thing? I don't know how pop warner works... There may be rooms come that thursday? so if i made reservations for 3 days and didn't do anything about the first day is there a number i could call to see if i could get reservations for the first day?

Or even i suppose i could just check back on line to see if there is room available and get another reservation. tho it would stink to change rooms... but that gives me hope maybe I will make reservations for the last three days and hope something opens up, if not I am sure there has to be some place that is cheep within 20 miles of the conference I have to go to.

No, it's not a set thing until the competitions and football games are over. In our area, New England, I know that won't happen until November 27th. My guess is that Disney blocks a large number of rooms and they'll release whatever doesn't get used by the Pop Warner teams. It all depends on how many kids they have per team and that's going to vary.

If you do a quick search, I know there's a 1-800 number that you can call to check on availablity. Also, have you tried an on-line travel company like Expedia or Travelocity? Sometimes they block a number of rooms and also release back what they don't book.

Try the Swan/Dolphin. I have Dec. 3 at the Swan on a government employee discount, then I move to a value resort. I booked pretty late.

I will call disney tomorow if i can find the number and see ifthere is not a room somewhere on the 3rd i could get... i know there probably isn't anything different from the online booking, but worth a shot.

I hope a company is paying for the car and airfare etc.

With so much going on at Disney that week you probably don't want to be there amidst the mobs.

That's why I recommend searching for the 1-800 number. You should call every day to check availablilty, but my guess is that something will open around November 30th. Good luck.
