Best show currently on TV that didn't make the all time list: The Big Bang Theory

Here are my 15 faves, in no particular order:

1. MacGyver
2. Carol Burnett Show (especially loved the "Gone with the Wind" sketch!)
3. Dukes of Hazzard
4. M*A*S*H
5. All in the Family
6. Bob Newhart Show
7. Taxi
8. WKRP in Cincinnati (the Thanksgiving turkey giveaway was the best!)
9. Babylon 5
10. Star Trek (the original series)
11. Stargate SG-1
12. Soap
13. Cosby Show
14. Muppet Show (still just a kid at heart, I guess)
15. Mary Tyler Moore Show

In no particular order:

Carol Burnett Show
MASH
Nature and National Geographic
WKRP in Cincinnati - agree with a pp about the Turkey episode
Cheers
Friends
Star Trek - just because it started it all
Star Trek - the Next Generation - because of its superior dialogue and characterisation

Babylon 5 - I think it does stand the test of time, even with the outdated CGI, DS14 loves the show even with a steady diet of sci fi with superior effects. Story wins out every time; and the concept that the writer had the whole 5 years mapped out before they started filming is amazing.

Wonderful World of Disney
Barney Miller
Dr. Who - through the ages, but my fave is still Tom Baker

Columbo - not sure if it was the first, but it was probably one of the better detective shows that added humour and led to a whole genre. Please correct me if I'm wrong, I wasn't allowed to watch Columbo when it first came out and only saw episodes later. But I did watch all the other detective shows that came after like Rockford Files, Simon and Simon, Magnum, PI, etc.

I can't think of any more that haven't already been mentioned.

I have to say that I tend not to watch network tv too much anymore as I prefer to watch channels such as Discovery Civilization, History, NG, etc and because so many of the network shows are disappointing. I have to agree with Stinkerbell's Daddy though about Big Bang Theory, it's my favourite current sitcom.

Here's my list....

The Rockford Files (I L-O-V-E James Garner:lovestruc)
I Love Lucy (how could she not make you laugh?)
The Brady Bunch (grew up with it)
Survivor (the first reality show and man was I glued to each episode)
American Idol (even WITH Ryan Seacrest!)
Without a Trace (such inventive story lines)
60 Minutes (it's amazing how much you can learn from this show)
Moonlighting (loved it in it's time)
Boston Legal (amazing offbeat humor)
Saturday Night Live (the 70's & 80's)

Ok, that's ten. That's all for now.

Don't have time to list 15 but

The West Wing
Friday Night Lights

two best written shows ever imho

I don't know if I could come up with 15, but my personal, top #1 best television series every made is The West Wing. I like other shows, but the West Wing is the only show I've ever bought the DVD seasons of. I have every season on DVD and still watch it quite often. Best. show. ever.

Same here - it's the only show I have purchased on DVD and I still watch it all the time. It never gets old.
