yeah sure germs are good, but there is nothing good about bed bugs. and the problem with them is its almost impossible to get rid of them.
we stayed at port orleans french quarters last week and we had them. by the time i left my ankles had bites all over them. it wasnt till i got home that i realized they werent mosquito bites at all, which is what i had thought while i was there. it never dawned on me it would be bed bugs.

oh and i dont know about the rest of the world, but i can assure you i do not have bed bugs in my home!!! so no, not everyone has them!!

Not to disagree with you, but I stayed at POR and had bites on my ankles before I ever got in the bed. I was the only one, and it was from being outside at night.

I watched a show about them a few years ago and OMG!!! Anyway what I did take away from it was where to look for them in your room. OK so DH thinks I am a nut there I am checking the corners of the rooms as they like them. Check behind the pictures above the beds and naturally there I am trying to pull behind headboards, flashlight in hand! Lift the linen always and check to see if there are any stains that look like small blood dots another sign and check the pillows. OK not bed bug related..... Yes I carry Lysol sanitize the room prior to anyone touching anything. I never let my luggage rest on the floor and no one is permitted to be without sandals or shoes in the room. Finally I keep the remote in a ziploc.Clean phone, light switches tvs and ANYTHING we would touch. No I do not want maid service leave me linen I will do it myself.

Here's some helpful info

Believe it or not, some of us do try and be helpful and post factual information and reassurances. However when I saw a previous poster being attacked for the facts that she posted, I did feel the need to respond with a reassurance of the low incidence.

Your posts on this thread frankly confuse me; it may be that English is not my first language, but I am confused as to whether or not you actually had bugs, and frankly I hope that you did not.

My intent however was (and still is) to reassure readers that the actual incidence is rare, and to remind them to check their rooms and to read some of the links posted here.
while it may be rare, it does happen. It happened to me as well. I was at Pop Century. I reported it, they moved me to a different room and also had to call 911 because my legs swelled up from the reaction I had to getting bit.

unfortunately i wanst the only one. there were 5 of us, the only one who didnt get the bites was my youngest who slept in a pack and play.

Post # 15 No, it’s okay – reading, and reading comprehension, are my “things.

So, what with English being my first language and me not being able to decipher whether the poster had bedbugs, based on contradictory posts, it’s no wonder it’s confusing to someone to whom English is a third, fourth, or more, language!

im sorry i still dont understand why you are so confused, or maybe youre confused because you are only reading parts of paragraphs, try reading all of it. its all quite clear. possibly you need to find your drama elsewhere...that is what youre looking for right?

:confused3 surely unless you saw the critters to verity.. it could have been any kind of insect that bit you when you were outside.. or indeed have been a mosquito in the room??

The chances of it being a mosquito or some other kind of insect is probably much greater than it being bed bugs.

And the poster that keeps the remote in a ziplock and doesnt allow anyone to walk without shoes in the room... :confused3 :scared1: :confused3 to be honest, that scares me more than the bedbugs!

when there are tell tale signs on the bed, that isn't a mosquito in the room. Normally mosquitos do not bite what is under covers, they bite what is exposed. I am not sure why some do not belive that this happens.
I also would like to point out that sometimes it can be fleas! yes fleas, they can be on the bed and in the carpet. they may leave tell tale signs as well. They can be just as bad as bed bugs. While many may say that the hotel doesn't allow pets, they do. They allow service pets... Disney tried telling me mine weren't bed bugs but fleas..yes, they said they were fleas.... not that it made a difference..but they would not admit bed bugs to me.. I happen to know fleas very well. Mine were NOT fleas.. and I saw the blood stains on the lip of the mattress after my bites when I checked the beds..
From that time on, I learned to check every bed, at every hotel. I did not take it for granted anymore because it was a nice hotel, a good chain etc.. that there would not be bed bugs.. or even fleas..

dont worry, they were talking to me. for some bizarre reason they have decided to try to discredit me. its boring.
guests can actually bring fleas in with their luggage. its gross, but it happens. luckily theyre pretty easy to get rid of.

I dont think anyone is trying to discredit you as you put it... it seems you were just unlucky.

We have stayed in hotels all over the world and Ive been fortunate in that i have never been bitten by a bed bug! :) - so i think you were just unfortunate as I dont believe bed bugs are that common.

Maybe you should read the information provided on the link. Education is nothing to be "frightened" by. http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/Consumer/Story?id=2963810&page=1

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure...........
