I've read the reviews on another site about these hotels but want some more opinions. any one who has stayed at these ....Please,which is the nicest or worst and why. we've always stayed at Fort wilderness cg before, partly cause of money, partly cause of nostalgia( and love the calm and quiet break from crowds!) but have to try a hotel this time (flying) and can't really see wasting our limited budget on a more expensive one but don't want to stay off site.(been there, done that, never again) Thanks for any and all input

My youngest DD absolutely LOVES the All Star Movies!!! (In fact, last year we stayed at the Grand Floridian, and she was asking to go to the Movies!) The hotel is adorable - the giant icons are so cute - my daughter could have stayed there all day and played!! We were in Love Bug one year, and 101 Dalmations the next time. Both were great locations, very quiet, and a short walk to the bus stop/food court!

I would highly recommend the All Star Movies!!!

My DH and I stayed at All Star Sports last September and really enjoyed our stay. We had previously stayed at CBR in April 2002 and really for the money the All Stars were great. We didn't have any problems with noise, distance from food court or the bus system. We drive so we do have our own car but always take the buses except when going to DTD which has more to do with purchases than the bus system. We got a great rate to stay at CBR this October but would not hesitate to stay at the All Stars again. We did walk through the rest of the All Stars and felt that the Sports was less spread out.

The rooms are smaller than CBR but still adequate although there was only 2 of us -- we tend to take a lot of stuff so I'm sure that a family wouldn't have any trouble in the room either.

I've found that as long as people know and are comfortable with the limitations of the All Stars, they generally have a good time. We love them (my favoriate is Sports). Just remember that it's bus travel (if you use the Disney transportation) everywhere, and you only get a food court, and there is no slide in the pools (basically regular motel type accomodations that have Disney customer service). The CMs that we have met are great. We have yet to have a bad experience at one of the All Stars.

You really can't beat it for the money. I have stayed at the All Stars Music twice. I am staying at a moderate next year for a step up and because I have the time to save the cash. I would not hesitate to stay at any of the All Stars again at any time. They were clean and convenient. We did not use the pools but they looked great. No slide. Big Deal! The theme of the resorts really appeals to small kids. You will have a great time.

thanks for all the input. I saw some pictures on another site and was pleasantly surprised. the rooms looked like average hotel rooms to me which is ok with me as I don't go to wdw to sit in the room. i like the boats but not enugh to spend a lot more.

My mom and I stayed at ASMO in November, and we both had a BLAST!!! The 101 Dalmations section was too cute!! I wish I could go back again real soon. We had no problems with the bus service, but the food from the food court left a lot to be desired in our opinions.

I'm in an All-Star Sports room RIGHT THIS MINUTE (taking a break because it is pouring out) and here's my general thoughts:

-room is small but nice and clean.
-one vanity can get a little tough at time for a family of four, but we're getting by.
-short walk to the food court and buses
-refillable mugs are a great deal and great convenience
-bus service is great to sports. I doubt it's the same for Music--the two share a bus often and Sports is always the first stop
-the area is bright, cheerful and energetic. Very Disney-like.
-the pool area is loud, always busy, with music playing, and while we are right outside the pool the noise never bothers us for sleeping.
-we have been very, very pleased with the food in the food court. It's a big step up from counter service in the park and is quick and convenient. No table service, yes, but still good quick food!

The AS depends on the family, number in the room and what you think of them in the first place. ;)
So far we have stayed at CSR, POR, ASMu (2x) and ASMo. (2 adults)
Like someone else replied, for the $ the AS is hard to beat.
There's no in room coffee maker. Which let's face, doesn't make good coffee anyway.
No ceiling fan.
The laundry facilities are small, considering the size of the resorts and how many families stay there.
No slides at the pools.
Smaller sink area.
But the CM's are great. The best we have experienced yet at WDW resorts.
Very good, organized bus service.
Clean, well maintained grounds.
Less expensive food court. (But the food isn't as good either.) Fair selection. Again not as good as the mods.
On our first AS stay, we weren't expecting a lot and were very pleasantly surprised.
So far 3 out of 3 AS stays have been great for us. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again.
Which AS you prefer just depends on theming. They are very interchangeable resorts.
One thing we did notice at our last ASMu stay, the main behind-the-scenes AS bus area is between ASSp and ASMu. Anyone staying near/overlooking the bus area would probably not be too happy, I have a feeling. ;) (Noisy)
We have stayed in the preferred view in ASMu and regular. Preferred was handy. And although we faced the pool, the pool noise did not come through into the room.
I would ask for a top floor. The AS have turbo tiolets.
Two stays we were on the top (3rd) floor and the noise level was not bad at all. Very good actually.
One time we were on the second floor, during a busy weekend. The water noises (tiolets, sinks) was much more noticeable.
More than two persons per room, I would think feels too crowded. But guess it depends on what you are use to in the first place. ;)

My 14 year old son and I just got back from a week's stay at the All Star Music Resort and we loved it there! We we in building 10 - the Calypso Building, which is one of the preferred location buildings. It was a great location. We were on the third floor and it was very quiet up there. We were very close to the main pool, food court, gift shop, bus stop, etc. I t was a very short walk to everything. I am a music teacher, so I really enjoyed the theming of this resort. I think the All Star resorts are a great value for the money! It was very clean, the CM's were very friendly and helpful, and we thought the foodcourt had a good selection of food and that the food was very good. I would definitely stay at the All Star Music Resort again!

Hey, Jazzy--we just got back from AS sports today. Did you have any trouble with the bus service at Music? We were supposed to be there and got moved, but I noticed that most of the time the buses picked up at Sports and then went to movies.

We really enjoyed the All Star Movies. Haven't stayed at the other AS yet. Maybe we should try Music, but we love the movie themes. I've been checking prices for our next trip. We haven't been to Disneyworld (Disneyland yes) in about 3 years. Wow, those deluxe resorts are pricey now aren't they. But it's nice to know the AS are there for such a great price with all of the theming too.

We stayed at the Allstar Sports and loved it, we would be staying there this year again, but my wife wants to try different places, so I guess its gonna be a few years before we get back to it.

People say the rooms are small, but living in NYC you get used to small apartments and hotel rooms, so to us it was fine.

The food court was great, the food was decent and we found we could get in and out pretty fast.

Remember you will spend a majority of your time at the parks and possibly at the pool, so its not like you are going to be in your room that much, but to change, shower and sleep.

Im sure you will have fun either way, and good luck...

We stayed at All Star Movies last November and my kids absolutely LOVED it !!! We stayed in the Mighty Ducks section, because my son is a hockey nut (and my daughter likes hockey too). The theming at the hotel is very cool (Toy Story, Fantasia, etc). In my opinion, you're visiting Disney World because we're all kids at heart, and staying at a hotel surrounded by Disney themes was a bonus.

The rooms are an average size, with two twin beds, and a small table+ two chairs, with dressers and two night stands. And that for us was comfortable enough, we really spent very little time in the room. Price was resonable considering, the other Disney resorts.

We would stay there this time, but rooms do not allow more than 4 people, and this time there will be 5 of us.

This is exactly what I needed to hear! My dd (5) and I are going in Dec. and we are staying at ASmo. I was actually considering moving locations because we stayed at the GF last time and
I was wondering if we would be disappointed. Sounds like it will be perfect for just the two of us, more specifically for her. Which is really what this trip is about. Can anyone tell me if they decorate the AS' for the Christmas holidays?

ABSOLUTELY ! We were there 11/16/02 - 11/23/02, and each day we awoke to various Christmas decorations throughout the hotel that were added by the Disney elves while we were asleep. You'll see the parks doing the same thing. I won't go into detail, but it was so cool to see Christmas decorations in Disney.

From what I have seen, they decorate, but don't expect a lot. It is a value resort in Christmas decor too. ;)
Between the parks and other resorts there are PLENTY of other decorations to see. ;)

We stayed @ ASMO and loved it and are staying agian!
We stayed @ Sports and hated it!!! Even switched resorts two days earlier then planned.
Never stayed @ Music but I have alot of friends that love it...my DH wont try it after the Sports stay....
I think it depends on the person and kids staying...

I just got back from our trip to Disney. We arrived in Florida a couple of days earlier(husband is commando driver). We got to stay at ASSp. Loved it. Stayed in the football section. End of hallway with only one neighbour. Found it very quiet. Then we moved over to our reservation at ASMo. We asked for an end unit and ended up on the 2nd floor of Toy Story. Woody's area. Loved it even more. It was a little walk to pool and canteen but we didn't mind. I have 2 boys 10 and 8. They loved it. My husband loved it. We had a great time with everything. Bathroom is small would be my only complaint. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. The food was really good at the canteen. We bought a couple of mugs to refill. But noticed alot of people using just about anything they wanted. I don't mind the fact of using an old All Star mug but when they are using ie Blizzard Beach mug that is really obvious, I had a problem with it. The staff didn't care at all about it.
Hope this helps..
Tina

what in particular was the difference...sounds like it must have been more than just "not ok" at the sports. thanks
