We are a family of six, but this time my dd and I (mom) are planning a trip to Disney for her 16th b-day. Dates are 9-7-07 to 9-12-07. We have booked the All Stars Sports, but most of the reviews I have read are a little on the negative side.

In November we stayed at POR and we really liked it, but I wanted something a little more playful for dd.

I need some comments, suggestions, encouragement?? Anything would be greatly appreciated. Maybe reassurance??
Thanks

I have no personal experience but we are staying there Aug 31-Sept 9 & I've been reading a lot about it. It seems like the main complaints are when there are a lot of school groups it gets very noisy & can have teens without a lot of parents. We shouldn't have too much issues in Sept. There also is a bit on it being rundown, however it is currently being revamped. So I'm hoping we are OK. We're big sports fans & want something fun too. Many a time, tho, I've considered bumping up to a moderate. So far my heart is keeping me at a value. Hope I don't regret it!

I was worried after reading the reviews too! Let me reassure you. Our stay (earlier this month) was excellent. Yes the hotel is older, it is time to refurbish it, which is what they are doing. However, it is by no means run down. Check-in took about 15-20 minutes (if that). CM was very friendly.

Mousekeeping was good. The room was clean. One day we had the do not disturb sign on the door, so they left towels in a bag that was hung on the door. Of course they didn't get the dirty towels that day, but that was fine.

The grounds were nicely landscaped. We saw an armadillo (sp?) early one morning as well as several bunnies. DS loved the Goofy baseball pool, and all the sports stuff. The resort was not too crowded, and not loud at all.

We went to the food court once for breakfast and once for lunch. It was running smoothly both times. The turkey sandwiches we got for lunch were really good.

Bus transportation was excellent. For MK we always had our own bus. We shared for Epcot, but it was really quick even with stopping at the other All Stars. We only had a two day stay this time, so I can't comment on travel to the other parks.

We really enjoyed our trip and would stay there again. Have I reassured you at all? I felt the same way, especially when I read the stuff about Mousekeeping since I have a baby, and am freaked out about cleanliness, but when we got there I felt so stupid. ASSp was wonderful.

Disney's All-Star Sports Resort is a TERRIBLE resort! It is SO terrible that I have only stayed there 7 times!;) :)

Thanks for the resort update! I too was worried about the condition of this resort but I knew they were refurbishing and was just hoping for the best. Does anyone know the status, how far along are they and when it's schedule to be complete?

We are a family of 4 and stayed at ASSports in 2005. We had a great time!!! Our room was kinda small for 4 of us, but it was clean and we didn't really spend that much time in the room anyway. Also, the rooms were very quiet. The food court was a little crowded every time we went down to eat, but that's to be expected. The pool was nice and the bus transportation was great!! Didn't have to wait on buses or stand a lot. We will stay at this resort again!!!

So we will be there around the same time, hopefully we will get one of those room that has been revamped. But I am with you, I keep considering upgrading to a moderate, approximately 350.00 more for 5 nights,(are we allowed to put dollar amts on DIS?) and then I think all we could do with that money. I hope I don't regret my decision too. i keep reminding my self that Disney is fantastic and we should make the best of it even if we are not loving our room, right?? :-)

DH & I stayed at AllStar Sports one night last year and in OHO really hated it, but that is us. We had dinner there, arrived late, and it was so noisy we couldn't stand it, and the garbage cans were overflowing. The room, to us, was too small.

I had been excited about staying there one night, but it was a disappointment and we won't go back. But I have to say I look at the pictures of POP and it looks like a wonderful resort to me.

Also, when our daughter did go to Disney with us there were no values, so a moderate was our only choice back then.

Thank you, I feel better now, I can handle the hotel needing some TLC, but I couldn't handle if it was not clean. All sounds good! Especially that turkey sandwich:)

As long as you are realistic about expectations for ANY value, I think you will be fine. If you are concerned about noise, ask for a 3rd floor room, NOT facing any pool. I think it has the best bus service of any of the All Stars.

there is nothing wrong with allstar resorts..i just came back from sports 3 weeks ago..room was all repainted new wallpaper...taps were replaced and it was oerfect..i was in building 7 the football one..it was perfect..so donnt worrie..im going back to sports in sept 1 to 7 we also stayesd at pop for 3 days..its nicwe but very big..iv stayed there 5 times..huge resort..if you get the outback..its a long walk to anything

For 4 nights, only because A friend of mine is staying there. I would rather of stayed at POP but realize, that Sports is closer to AK and BB!:thumbsup2 I have stayed there in the past, requested building 10, and had a great stay there.:thumbsup2

I stayed at All Star Sports in December and going back July 13 to stay again. I thought it was great, first on the bus stop for the All Star resorts, friendly staff. I mean I guess it could be some noise around pool but overall I loved it and plan on staying again. I have stayed at Pop and like Sports much better. Pop is SOOOOO HUGE, too many people, long bus waits. And for the cost you can't beat Sports or Music, or Movies. I have stayed at the Poly, Port Orleans, Pop, Sports, and I can honestly say that for the cost vs the amount of time I actually spend in the room the Sports wins out.:cheer2:

Hi--My family and I stayed at Sports in March 06. The resort itself was no problem. But, there are A LOT of school groups/teams that stay there. Most have no chaperones and run wild. We actaully had someone prank calling us in the early hours of the morning; the kids were loud, rude and left trash and belongings where you need to walk to get to the rooms. According to the bartender at the pool bar, they are thining of turning that resort into a school/team only resort to cut down on complaints from families who are there. In September you might not have any problems, but for future planners, this is all information to keep in the back of your head. Have a great time!

This seems to be the biggest complaint at ASSp. As I said, we loved staying here, but I didn't see any school groups or teams. I think in the future I would try to find out if it is a common time for groups before booking a stay there. I wouldn't think Sept. would be a time with lots of groups.

The resort itself was a great place to be with a 5 year old and 2 1/2 year old...it's Disney, so how bad can it be, right? The mousekeeping was great (my son was so excited to see how they arranged his animals evryday), no problems with transports to the parks, the food was good, and it was affordable. I would definatley stay at a value resort again, but I'll think twice before planning to stay at sports.

We just got back from All Star Sports on Saturday. It was very clean my room was not dirty or outdated the front desk people were amazing. Pools were very nice food was good and affordable BUT we had a few problems with a cashier not being able to speak english or understand it fully we got charged for a extra adult meal. We went one night and they were out of ice and the food court was a mess. Other than a few issues with the food court everything else seemed to be very good.
