Staying at All Star Sports for the first time this summer. I've heard really bad things but its what we can afford (we would rather be sure we have money to spend dining). Is it really that bad? I read its first on the all star bus route which is nice. Also, do you have any recommendations on what to put for our room requests? I know we cant have surfs up because we booked standard not preferred but are some buildings nicer or super close to transportation compared to others?

In this family's experience it's great! We have enjoyed our stay at all 3 of the All Stars with Sports being our favorite.

I read its first on the all star bus route which is nice.

Yes it is. However, it is rare that they share a bus. The majority of the time each All Star resort has it's own bus. We have had a total of 32 days at an All Star resort and were on a shared bus a grand total of 3 times. And all 3 times there were maybe 6 other people on the bus. A good thing is that if you are at a park wanting to go back to Sports you can hop on the first All Star bus that shows up and just walk over to Sports. Very convenient.

There is no difference in the buildings except for location and theme. I would either pick the theme you like best or just request "close to food court". No room at Sports is more than a 5 minute walk.

Can I ask what time of year you went that you didn't have to share? Every where I have read has lead me to believe they always share buses. Also, how far is the walk to sports from other All Stars? Would it be too exhausting after a long park day?

Yes, I have seen the exaggerated reviews too. That is not what we, or many people I know, have experienced. It's one of the most exaggerated WDW things I've seen. Do they share, yes. But it's not often.

We been there:

June
July
November
October
Christmas

Also, how far is the walk to sports from other All Stars?

From Music, depending on where your room is at Sports 2-5 minutes.
From Movies, depending on where your room is at Sports 5-8 minutes.

Would it be too exhausting after a long park day?

We only took an All Star bus not going to our resort during the day when it's slow and you can easily hop out of our line into one where the bus just pulled up. At the end of the night every resort (not just the All Stars) is going to have a long line of people and it's impossible to hop out of your line and into another as there's a lot of people already waiting to get on that bus. As a tip if we stay for fireworks once they are over we find a spot to sit, grab a snack and people watch for about 30-45 minutes. If we do that, we can usually walk right onto a bus and be on our way.

People tend to leave reviews or be more vocal about their opinion when they have something strong to say about it, typically something negative. And because the All-Stars are viewed as "cheap", there's just more of that. However, there really isn't a problem with any of the All-Star Resorts.

The All-Stars do not typically share buses during the busier seasons. They may during the slower parts of the day or early in the morning, or when it's not a high-crowd season.

We were at sports last fall (11/25-12/3) and loved it. Small, short walks everywhere. The grounds are nicely landscaped and we were at the end of a building facing the parking lot and still had a nice quiet stay. We could even see the tops of the Hollywood studios fireworks at night!

My kids loved the sports theme too. I just liked that it was more compact than pop and less crowded overall. We may have waited a little longer for busses in the mornings, but not by much and that is based on a lot of factors too. The few times we did share buses at the end of the night we were dropped off first and it wasn't a big deal at all.

It's a great little resort!

I'm not a fan of the value resorts but if I had to pick one, I'd probably stay at Sports again. I've stayed at Sports and Pop and for my money, Sports was much better (blasphemy I know). It's a smaller resort and I was in the touchdown section so the walk to the food court and the buses was 2 min. tops. I didn't share a bus at all. I did have issues in that my room faced the field, which was where they showed the movie at night so it was loud but since I was only there for two nights, I just lived with it.

Everybody is right-Sports is TERRIBLE!

Just kidding-Sports is a great Resort-I've stayed at there over 200 nights-so it can't be too bad!!!!lol:)

The only thing about Summer(ESPECIALLY July)is it is "The 15s Season" and they can be at Sports in HUGE numbers-they don't bother me,but some Guests don't like staying with them.

but are some buildings nicer or super close to transportation compared to others?
The best Standard Building is Home Run Hotel/Building 9-from there Guests can walk along the "back" of Touchdown!/Building 10 directly to the Bus Stops and the "side door" to Sport Goofy-very short walk.:)

The walls are SUPER thin. Can hear everything from next door. :headache:

We thought the rooms were very clean. I did like the food court a little better than the one at Pop because it's smaller and the lines were not as long when I was in the food court at Sports.

Bus is only sometimes shared. It wasn't an issue when we have stayed at All Stars. The only time the bus was shared was mid day when there are usually less people in line anyway.

Can I ask what time of year you went that you didn't have to share? Every where I have read has lead me to believe they always share buses. Also, how far is the walk to sports from other All Stars? Would it be too exhausting after a long park day?
I was at Movies, for a week, late in March. I was on one bus that stopped at all three resorts, but just one. It was mid-day, so few guests were using buses back to the resorts.

I've stayed at Movies and Music so far. I'll be at Sports next month. I love staying at different resorts. If I don't care for it, no big deal. Just won't stay there again. But, my last stay at Movies, in late March was great, so I'm hoping Sports in June is just as good!!!

I've stayed at all 3 All Star Resorts, I've stayed at most of the moderates and a few Deluxe including 2 club level stays. With that said, I have a trip booked the last week of October beginning of November and we are staying at Sports. Any stay on Disney property is a good choice, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. Even though they are value hotels, they are still a great place to stay.

Thats so great to hear that the bus sharing is infrequent. One of the reasons I chose to stay on property is ease of access to the parks. I remember staying at a Disney Springs hotel last year that shared a bus with 3 other resorts, it would take us an hour in transport, so our afternoon break was practically non existent. I really dislike bus sharing and when I stayed Beach club I remember I could be anywhere in 15-20 minutes. Hoping for the same ease of transportation at Sports, makes on property prices worth it for me

What have you heard bad?? I never wanted to stay there but strictly because the theming didn't appeal to me. Well, last trip that was all that was available and I loved it!!

We have stayed at Movies, Pop and Sports. IMHO sports had the best busing. We very rarely had buses go to all three, we have stayed in Jan, Feb, July, Sep, Oct and Nov.

We would stay value again and Sports would always be our first choice. Love the pools, the CMs, the grounds. Many people just comment on the bad experiences, we have had worse experiences at moderate, noisy neighbors, bad service, etc. Form your own opinion. I know mine is I would rather stay in any Disney resort than my own house many nights.

You can see in my signature that I've stayed at many deluxe resorts, and then Pop a couple of times. We stayed at Sports this spring break, and it was perfectly fine and dandy! It was a great trip!

We never heard noise from other rooms, but have had noisy neighbors at the Boardwalk Inn last time (to the point where I had to call security TWICE).

The food court had a decent selection of food. First night we ordered from "pizza delivery" as we were SO tired (landed, did Epcot all afternoon, then went back to unpack and get our Safeway order delivered). We didn't order pizza though; we had pasta with chicken for my kid and friend, and I had spaghetti with meatballs, I think salad and desserts. It came out to under $50, and was delivered in just about 20 minutes or so. Very appreciated, as we were literally too tired to walk the 2 minutes to the food court.

I would definitely stay there again. Have nothing negative to say about it at all.

We did share a bus a few times (it was spring break), but we only stopped at Music for like one minute. Nice to get on the bus and have a seat.

I've found now that at Disney, I seem to prefer the value resorts. I like a food court, especially when we get back in the evening and want something to eat (we never did breakfast there; had stuff from Safeway in the room and I made coffee with my travel coffee maker).

We have stayed at Music and Movies a few times, and we generally had our own buses in the early mornings/park opening and at closing. During the middle of the day, when we took a break, it was shared. We have taken the Sports bus at night when their line was shorter and walked to Music. It isn't really that far.

Does anyone know if the laundry at Sports has certain hours, or is it open 24/7?

We have stayed at Sports once before.....also stayed at Music and Movies. We have enjoyed them all!! They aren't the Ritz, but we are able to keep with the Disney feel all through our trip and not spend a fortune on the rooms.

We enjoyed Sports just as much as we enjoyed any of the other resorts we have visited. We have stayed in deluxe, moderate, and off site too. Never had a bad trip and never had a problem with transportation. Buses were shared a few times while we were there, but we go during very slow times of year, so it was not an issue.
