We're thinking of staying at All Star Sports. I see many threads about all the other Value Resorts, but not many about All Star Sports. What are your pros and cons of All Star Sports?

TIA :cool1:

We enjoyed our stay there very much. If you enjoy sports then this is the place for you. The lobby area is full of pictures and sports memorabilia and the huge sports icon are great for picture ops. The All Stars are about theming. They are identical in amenities, room size, pricing, transportation options and the food courts and pools are pretty much identical too. So if you like Sports then stay at this one, if not then one of the other All Stars would be better. Have you checked out the resort slide shows on: www.allearsnet.com This website is great for checking out information and photos on all the WDW resorts.

I have not stayed at Sports. One of the pros about staying at Sports is if the All Stars resorts are sharing buses Sports is the first stop going and the first stop returning.

I love The All Star Resorts.

I am 56 years old and travel several times a year. I often stay at 4 star hotels.
So the deluxe and mod resorts are just another hotel/motel to me.
All Star is like being in the heart of the Magic and that is where I want to be.

All Star Music is my favorite. It is quieter because more couples stay there. I love staying at the Calypso building. It is closer to the pool, food court and bus stop.

Here is a site with a map of All Star Sports and All Star Music.
http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/allstarmap.htm
Scroll down. All Star Music is at the bottom of the page.
The Calypso buildings at All Star Music are #1 and #10 are nearest to the food court and bus stop.

The Calypso pool at ASMu has Donald Duck.

The buses are wonderful.

Bus rides are quite short from the ALL Stars according to PassPorter.com

All Star Buses-CBR buses---POPbuses--PO buses--- Contemporary
MK 20 min---- 20 min-----25 min------10 min---20 min(mono)
Epcot 10 min-- 15 min-----20 min------10 min---15 min
MGM 10 min----12 min-----15 min------15 min---20min
AK 10 min------20min-------15 min----15 min---20 min
DTD 15 min----20 min------20 min-----15 min---35 min

It only takes 10 minutes to get to Epcot, MGM and AK from All Stars.
MK is 20 min away. That's the same amount of time it takes on the monorail from the Contemporary.

A WORD ABOUT BUS SHARING

To me Bus Sharing at the All Stars is really a non issue.

In the mornings during Park opening hours each All Star usually has a dedicated bus.
During mid day it is usually just our stop and maybe one more on the way to the parks. On the way back sometimes it is all 3 but often Sports and Music share and Movies has it's own bus back. Each of the All Stars usually has it's own dedicated bus back from the MK.
That is a big plus. It seems like the Music bus stop usually has the shortest of the three All Star bus lines.

I guess some people who stay at POP see all 3 All Star names on the return sign of our bus stop when they head to the POP bus stop and think All Stars also has 3 stops on the way to the park.
(Even when we stop at another AS resort to load up it has not taken more than 5 minutes and we are on our way!)

The pools at The All Stars are very kid friendly.

When staying at the All Stars you can use any of the All Star pools. That means 3 main pools ,3 quiet pools and 3 kiddie pools to chose from.

The All Star Movie Fantasia pool has Mickey.

The Calypso pool at ASMU has Donald Duck.

And the Surfs up pool at All Star Sports has giant surf boards.

Here are a few pool photos.

I have visited WDW more than a dozen times with the 1st time in Oct. 1971. It was brand new. I've stayed at FW, Disney Inn, a few the of Hotels on hotel Blvd., CBR and the towers at the Contemporary. I got to see the MK from my balcony at the Contemporary and I'm happy I got to experience it once. I just prefer the All Star Resorts.
The theming is pure Disney.
My last 5 visits have been at The All Stars and last fall when we took dd,dsil, and our grandson age 3 for 8 nights we stayed at the All Stars Music. I thought about AKL and even though we can well afford AKL I just wanted Alex to experience the Disney Magic :wizard: at the All Stars on his first visit.
Where else can one find Donald Duck or Mickey Mouse at the pool?

We enjoyed All Star Sports and are returning there next month.
As the previous posters said - it you like sports - you will enjoy your stay here. The theme is great throughout. We had no issues staying here (aside from the pool being packed with kids tossing nurf footballs!)

Can you request to stay at a certain sport? We are baseball fanatics (Go Angels!) and would love to stay in the baseball rooms.

What time of year are you going...the only reason I ask is that during POP Warner week 12/3-12/9 the cheerleaders usually stay at the Allstar Sports and then the over flow goes to the other Allstar resorts. It is just something you might want to keep in mind.

Are you kidding me???? AS Sports is our "home away from home". We always stay at this resort and going back 9/19-9/26 to once again enjoy the free dining plan. 62 days and counting!!!!!!!

Really depends on when you go. If you go during the summer peak time, a lot of groups, including foreign groups, will stay there. I remember going in 2003 and a large group from Brazil was there. If you didn't beat them to the bus stop in the morning, well, you may as well go ahead and eat breakfast at the resort, b/c you'd be waiting a while. Also, you can hit the stray cheerleader's group or football function (i.e. Pop Warner), and it can be crowded too.

However, having been there in summer 3 times, it was never so bad that I wouldn't stay there again, obviously. It is the first bus stop of the 3 All Stars in the morning (if you're sharing busses at that point), and the first stop on the way back at night, so that is a benefit.

We will be staying there for our 4th straight year in about 5 weeks, and always look forward to it. We always get the preferred rooms, to be close to the main pool, food court and lobby/bus stops.

We stayed at All Star Sports last May. We loved it!! :thumbsup2 I had heard some, not so good reports, about this resort and almost changed my ressies. My DS had to stay there and did not want to change ( DS (7), and DH love sports!!). I'm so glad I didn't change. It was great especially seeing my DS eyes light up when he saw the huge football helments and the baseball bats!! :cloud9: We are going back in June of 2007 I'm thinking of staying at CSR or CBR but maybe All Stars Sports again. :teeth: I think you'll have a great time!! The buses were great it's the first drop-off and pick -up. The food court was good and the CM were really friendly!! :goodvibes

:thumbsup2

AS Sports is great! DS(21 then) stayed there a few years ago and we loved it. The football field is unbelieveable! Xs and Os on a football field, only lifesize! Great fun if you like sports.

Thank you everyone for your input. I made reservations for All Star Sports. :cheer2: We'll be staying the week after Christmas.

I showed my ds (10) and my dd (13) pics of the resort on the Allears' site and they said they would definitely want to stay there. We've stayed at All Star Music before and at POP. I was feeling a pull to stay at All Star Music again, but wanted to try something else.

I'm really going to love being the first stops of the All Stars group! Especially after walking all day.

I didn't realize we could use the other All Star pools, thanks minnie61650.:)

If only Christmas would get here already! :hourglass

You're going to love it, you made a great choice! And being there at that time frame, you won't have any large groups, they generally go off season when rates are cheaper. So need to worry about that! Have a great trip, I am with you, I am ready for December to get here so we can take our trip as well!

I just booked all star sports for me and my 3 daughters:dance3: for Nov16-21.We are staying just b4 a cheer competition :cheer2:.My question is how do I go about trying to secure a room in the "touchdown" building, ground floor, courtyard view? They cheer for a football team that is in tournement at the same time so we really want the football theme.I also have a back injury and sometimes have trouble walking long distances. I am not handicap, and do not want to use up a room some one else needs. The last 2 times(1 time I paid for prefered) we were put at the furthest end of the building.I have checked in as early as 7am in hopes of this type of room,no dice
Also I've been looking at getting dinner at trails end "2 go".Is there a picnic area to eat our meal?Or would I have to bring it back to our resort? I've also noticed most Disney kids meals r for ages 3-9(mine are 12,12,14) and the adult portions are to big for them. When we get adult meals we share. Is there a way around this "age" limit for a sit down or buffet?

If you are paying out of pocket, I think you might be able to order kids meals but they are pretty limeted in what they have on the kids menus. Is the comp. you are going to the pop warner pop warner. I thought it was always the first week in dec?

I don't remember a picnic area near Trails End BUT for a definitive answer you may want to post that question on the Camping board. As for a room request, fax or call the resort about three days prior to check-in. There have been comments on the board that that sometimes works. Good luck

My daughters are in a competition in Daytona not an afiliate of Pop Warner. Its Nation Youth Football Championship. I will try calling in advance.

Last year I new nothing about football ect. Then my son got into the fourth grade this year. First year he can play football. SO needless to say I have learned a bit this year. This wed. is thier last game and they happen to be tada :cheer2:  undefeated so far. It has been a great year for the team. We have over half of the team of fourth graders. There has never been a undefeated peewee team here in the leauge? yet. Thier princ. of the school said if they win, he will put a photo up in the hall of the school for ever more. I cant wait tell wed. :wizard:
