So dh and I woke up with ants in our pants to plan a surprise trip for our two kids in April! Given that we have another trip to WDW in late May, this had to be budget minded. The only AAA rate available at a value was at All Star Sports. Stayed there once for one night back in 2005 and liked it very much. However, since its been awhile, I have a few questions I would love to have answered by anyone in the know who might have stayed there recently!

How far are they on the refurb process? I believe I read the preferred building is all done, but they had no preferred rooms left. Are many of the other buildings finished yet?

How big is this resort? We have a late flight and I anticipate that we will get the furthest out room they have left. So how far is that to the Main Pool and food court? The quiet pool is closed so if we swim its got to be in the main pool.

And last but not least, any recent reviews of this resort? Again, its been 3 years ago for us and that was for one night and I barely remember the place! Any reviews, good or bad is appreciated. Thank you!

They started this refurb back in September so most should be done. When I stayed there in Nov. I was in Home Run and it was done. I stayed there 1 night a few weeks ago in Touchdown and my room didn't look redone but it was late and only one night...

The couple times I've been there it's been fine. Mousekeeping has been good - didn't use the food court much so no reviews.

Have fun!!! :)

we stayed there in september and loved it. My sister was there as well and she stayed in one of the refurbished rooms which was nice (although it had a strong paint smell) our room wasn't refurbished however it was just as nice in my opinion the furniture was a little different but no major differences our room was still really nice. We stayed in one of the preferred rooms so i'm not sure about the others. The food we thought was wonderful in our opinion way better than the food in the park. HOpe you enjoy your trip

I just wanted to add that my favorite section at Sports is the baseball section. (Home run hotels) It is not preferred, is right by the quiet pool, and isn't too far from the food court etc.. (just walk past the Touchdown hotels). :)

We stayed there in November of 2006 and were pleasantly surprised. We also arrived late (I think it was around midnight) and I believe we were given the furthest section (baseball) but I actually ended up loving the location. We were right next to the Goofy Baseball pool which is adorable and much less frequented by the larger, and IMHO less charming pool. The rooms were clean. My only complaint, as with all the values is that at peak hours of the day the food courts were quite a nightmare. Have a good time!

Thanks guys. I think (after all of this) I am switching to Music! They had preferred rooms and its all refurbed but they didn't have an AAA rate. But with Sports' Goofy pool being under refurb and our late check in, I have visions of being in the back of the resort, in an old room near a closed quiet pool!

Just emailed my TA, hopefully they have some preferred rooms at Music or even Pop left. They did yesterday. I swear, I worry more about what resort I am going to stay at when at WDW than anything else in my life!

Thanks for your help, we'll give Sports a try next time.
