Just booked into the ASsp for the end of September using the Cdn at part deal. We've never stayed at any of the AS resorts although we have stayed onsite before. We wanted to try something new. We just booked a standard bldg as it's not that important for us to be close to the pool and foodcourt. We don't mind walking. Was wondering about the rooms -- is there a safe? Also what kinds of foods are available at the food court. Am really looking forward to staying at a different resort this time.

Yes, there's a safe. It's pretty shallow (not huge), but large enough to hold plane tickets, a wallet, some jewelry, ID, etc. Unless this has changed in the past year, it locks with a key (not by swiping a card through or punching in a code as some room safes) which is on a pretty big (bright orange plastic, I think) key ring.

By no means comprehensive, but here's a general idea (based on memory) of the food court offerings. There are also complete listings in the menus section of the WDWIG run by Deb Wills. It's a great food court!

One of my favorite features of the food court is the small "general store" area where you can select juices, milk, water, bottled/canned drinks, pre-packed salads and sandwiches, little fruit or veggie platters, packaged snacks, breakfast pastries, yogurt, cereal, fruit, candy, microwave popcorn, etc. I got or supplemented my meals there all the time. I think that selection is available all day/late night.

Then--like a mall food court--there are several stations with different food options (these are shown on WDWIG). At breakfast choices include hot breakfast platters with eggs, bacon, etc., a la carte hot foods, pancakes, a waffle station.

Dinner and lunch are the same (I think). In addition to the cold foods and sandwiches in the "store" stations include burgers, pizza, subs, Italian, etc. I think most stations have some sort of kids' meal option (breakfast too). And I'm pretty sure (again, in addition to packaged ice cream in the store) there's also an ice cream station for sundaes, etc.

Then there's a beverage island where you can fill the unlimited mugs. Choices include Coke soda products, Powerade (?), lemonade, coffee (but no real milk--you have to buy this), tea/hot water, and hot chocolate. In the beverage area there are also microwaves and toasters.

We liked the sports resort very much!! We have done mods and deluxes and found that sometimes if you are needing to pinch some pennies the budget is the way to go. The food court had a little for everybody. We took some of the money saved and put it towards more sit down meals. Go in with a open mind and its amazing how enjoyable things can turn out.

We too, tried the AS Sports, just to try a new resort. We have tried most the deluxes, and 1 moderate...just to give you a frame of reference for my thoughts.

The safe in the room is fine...probably about 12-15 inches long, 8 inches deep/high. Has a key, if you lose the key there is a $35 dollar replacement charge.

I think you will find the AS Sports surprisingly convenient...we did. We were in the farthest building back, 2nd floor, and we weren't more than a minute walk, if that from the main building, bus stop, food court, laundry room, pool. The all stars have one of the best layouts there is for a disney resort...they did a great job with them.

The food court has some great breakfast platters, as well as a la carte items, hot/cold, juices, etc...something for everyone. For lunch dinner...some of the items are the same, then some are removed and some nicer dinner items added. Hubby and I agree, for a food court the food is pretty good and the offerings are impressive as well. Our favorite is the made to order pasta...they had 4 different ones while we were there last weekend. I loved the penne pasta with chicken/spinach/tomatoes and asiago cheese...it was excellent. Hubby liked the linguini with beef and mushroooms...it tasted great as well.

They have a great pool bar, open until midnight, just like the pool. If you like beer, you can purchase a 1/2 yard and then refill if for you whole stay for only $5.50. I want to say the orginal purchase for the glass/beer is around $10...can't remember for sure.

Also, there are the refillable mugs for pop, coffee, hot chocolate, etc. Very handy for afternoons by the pool, especially if you are taking kids with.

They do not have towels by the pool, they tell you to take them from your room, and call for more. We usually just caught the made and stocked up on a few extras so we didn't have to track them down when we really needed them.

All in all, the rooms are nice, two double beds, one bar of soap by the sink. Shampoo/body wash in container in shower (I suggest bringing your own).

have fun!

Wow, let me first say I have stayed at the sports twice and love it!!!

It is a great value, very well themed and has two nice sized pools. We used our refillable mugs a ton. Most days off from the parks were spent at the main pool which is just a short walk from the refill station so we filled them up constantly. Food court has a great selection, the only difference is that it seems busier than the moderates and deluxes due to more families. But we never had a problem. What I liked best was going to the food court dressed for the day. We stayed at CSR last year and went to the food court in swim attire as we were headed out to BB, and oh my were we embarrased. Everyone was in dress clothes, suits ties, etc. YIKES!!! ate off the cart and in the room for breakfast after that.:)

Room safes are small but our video camera did fit in there, as did the kids game boys.

Rooms offer two double beds not queen so this could be a problem for those with adult size kids along.

If you want quiet you would want to avoid being above the baseball pool as it is quite busy in the evening. The football court is closed after 10 so there is not really a problem there as far as late night noise.

They have a nice gift shop that stocks some beer, wine coolers, first aid supplies, sunscreen etc. It is not a huge selection, but there should be something for you to use if you forgot any neccesties.

The buses run very frequently.

Over all I think this is a great Disney bargain.

Have fun!!!!

I'm looking forward to trying out ASsp even more now. We tried to stay there in April but it was all booked so we ended up staying at CBR instead. I love CBR but really wanted to try out the value resorts. It's just my DBF and I going so room size isn't a big issue -- if we took the teenagers it might be though.

What is the weather going to be like at the end of September? I've never been at the end of September before. I'm hoping that it will be hot enough for the water parks since we didn't get a chance to visit any during our April trip.

Saving money and experiencing a new resort is a great combination.
