We're trying to plan a trip to Disney for the first week in January for 5 days - just my husband and I. Is this a bad time to go? Will it be really busy? We don't have a lot of money for this trip. We're wondering about the All Star resorts. How are they? Are they clean inside and which one would you recommend?

Thanks!!

okay you are on the wrong board - but that is okay!!!

I stayed in the All Star Music once - it was great!!! the food court is very nice. Movie is probably the most popular.

the new Pop Century will be opened - I would stay there - it is a new resort (so there will be little problem) - but since it is openning on Dec 14 - you should have a problem with upkept or their being clean.

go look on the Disney resorts board on this site - see the post from chip 'n dale express - 'pop century is far out' - he is a CM that is openning up this resort.

I agree, stay at the Pop Century. Tyler (a wonderful cast member) has started a FAQ thread on this board. Find it and read it. There are pictures of the grounds and some of the rooms. Also, if you use the new CTH code, you can hopefully get a room for $55 a night (plus tax). Not bad at all for Disney!! That's just my two cents...

Cya There!!

Hello Rhonda!

January is not a bad time to go. DW and I have made a Jan or Feb trip now 2 years in a row. We too, don't have a lot of money. Going then with the discounts offered can't be beat. To even save money we drive from NE Ohio. Last year non-stop.

We've had good weather. Only 1 day of rain in those 2 trips. The temps have been at the worst, high 50's for a daytime high and a couple of days where we wore shorts.

The parks will not be busy. On our 2003 trip we saw everything we wanted w/o using a FP once. We bought a 4 day pass but only used 3 days of it to see everything. Epcot was open later than the other 3 parks so we went to MK, AK and MGM all in the AM. Did all to see and do and each evening (or early afternoon) went to Epcot and had plenty of time there.

In 2002 we were at Epcot on Super Bowl Sunday. I have pictures from the WS in the afternoon with hardly anyone else happening to get in the photo. I remember watching the Canada movie with about 12 other people.

I've seen the photos of PC and read the reviews too, but don't discount the AS yet. DW and I loved ASSp. We like sports, so we chose that one. One time we stayed in the baseball area. Quiet-but far from FC and bus stops. Another time in the Surf's Up area. Our room was just around the corner from the main pool and the FC, but since on the "backside" of the building it was quiet.

You asked if the AS are clean. One thing about WDW, if you are not happy they will fix it so you are.

I've stayed at Movies and Sports and I found that the Sports is the best one to stay in for transportation. You are the first ones picked up and the first ones dropped off. Believe me waiting in line for a bus that finally gets to you but is already full is not a good thing. Also being dropped off last is a bummer.

So the Sports is good for transportation. I do find however that any kind of childrens sports groups are booked in the All Star Sports so it can be a little loud. We asked to be moved one year b/c our room overlooked the pool and it was really loud. The ten o'clock pool rule was not enforced.

Movies was quite and less packed.

Hope this helps.
