All Star Resort Question

I have two rooms booked at All Star Music for 2 weeks in January. Our original plan was 9 days, but due to my DD starting the DCP program in January, we've had to add more days onto our original plan. In my original plan, I had two preferred rooms booked, but in order to save almost $400, I've changed our reservations to non-preferred rooms. How bad is the walk going to be? Am I going to regret this decision?? It's me and DH and 5 kids ages 17-3, plus my oldest DD for a couple of days before she checks into the DCP. We are flying and will only have a rental for a couple of the days. We also have the quick service dining plan. Thanks for the help!

Request Jazz Inn, it's the next closest set of buildings. But, the All-Stars are not big at all, the walk is not terrible.

I have stayed at AS Music seven times. I am in my 60's and find no problem with the walk to the rooms. I have stayed back in the Western motif and actually liked it alot because the pool is quieter.

Thanks for the advice! We stayed at All Star movies some years ago, but we had a preferred room, and didn't walk around to see all the other sections. I wasn't sure how big and spread out the All Star resorts are. Thanks!

Just by feel (not by map), I thought the "back" buildings were quite a bit further away at Music than they were at Sports. It just felt like a much longer walk.

Basically, I love Sports :)

If you are further out, you might even be closer to the buses at Movies or sports!

My only concern is how cold it might be. I booked preferred one year at Music, and was downgraded to standard. That was the year it was super cold, and I really hated the long walk in the cold.

Ask yourself, if it ends up being cold and you end up annoyed at the walk, how mad are you going to be that you decided to save the money instead of going for the closer room location?

I'm not a fan of the Music layout. We stayed in Jazz twice (the closest standard rooms) and even that was a bit of a walk. If I ever stay there again, I would book preferred.

Music is not built like the others. The main buildings are opposite the standard ones, as opposed to all other values where main building is more center to the length. I will never stay standard at Music again. It got so tiring that I started to drive to parks and eat before we came back. And I didn't like that the resort is so dark at night, making the walk more uncomfortable (and I'm a city kid not easily bothered).

So my answer is I would keep the preferred if that is in budget, especially in January which can get cold. Other than that I would stay at another value in standard.

Music is red and you can see how much it is laid out different with longer walks.
