Well, let me preface what I'm going to say by telling you that this was my 2nd time at ASMu and I have stayed in all categories of WDW resorts except HAFH.
Check-in was smooth, and although I didn't get the building I requested, all of the room assignments for my students and chaperones were correct. Getting to the rooms was no problem as we had our bus and we didn't have to lug our bags through the whole resort.
I have a couple of problems with the resort however.
#1 - The food court is way too small to accomodate the number of guests that this resort holds. The lines at breakfast were outrageous and the area where you get in line for food is so small! Cast members were luke-warm at best and the cleanliness was just mediocre compared to other resorts I have stayed in.
#2 - The rooms. Although they are small, my 18 month old son did have some room to play, so that was good. But the condition of the bathroom was poor. There was mold in the grout, the shampoo/body wash dispenser was disgusting and the sink area was too small for two adults. The resort felt run-down and old...I guess it's due for a major re-hab??
#3 - Management/Housekeeping. When we returned to our room one night, the room was open (the latch that secures the door was left inside the doorjam so the door wouldn't close fully), the lights were on and the tv was on. When I went to the front desk to find out what was going on, I was told that the manager would do an investigation to see who had been in the room before us and leave us a voice mail. Well, we never got a message, so before I checked out yesterday, I went to speak with the manager again, got the same story and was told they'd get back to me that day. They even took my cell phone number. Well, THEY NEVER CALLED! Now, nothing was stolen or missing, BUT at this point I'm more angry that I was simply blown off by two managers. So I am going to call the hotel today and ask to speak to one of those managers. I just feel that this is totally unacceptable. My room was left open for anyone to just walk into. And I care more about the way management handled the situation than anything. They never even had the decency to give me an answer, which is just common courtesy. So I'm calling to make a big deal about the way the situation was handled, not the situation itself so much.
Anyway, we will NEVER stay at any of the All Stars again. I might give Pop Century a chance if I have to stay at a value again, but from now on, we're staying at deluxes. I don't believe that "a room is a room." No matter how much you're in your room and no matter what you pay for it, there is a level of service that should come with being a guest, and I feel the management at this resort treated me like I was dirt.
So that's my opinion and I can't wait to plan my next trip at the Polynesian!
