For the $ -- AS are great.
From our experiences the CM's and transportation have been great.
We like quiet too.
I request top (3rd) floor with a corner room on the backside.
Haven't done too bad at all so far. :)

Have fun.

The buildings in the back like Country Fair are quiet. They are a good walk to the food court and buses. We have stayed in Country Fair and found that we would rather get into our car and drive to the front for the bus stops. The Jazz building was a good comprimise for quiet and distance. It was close enough to the front but far enough away from the pool to be noise less. THe bathrooms have push containers for shampoo and soap. Tacky. Bring you rown stuff. The pools look great and they are lively with lots of kids. The resort is vibrant with bold colors and icons of music. Music plays at the pool area from outdoor speakers. You will find more groups (church, chearleaders, youths) at the all stars. The food court is okay. They have a good amount of choices. There is a gift shop up front and they also sell over the counter pharmacy supplies and liquor and beer as well as Disney stuff.

The main this is for the price it is great and 100% Disney.

My 14 year old son and I just spent a week at the All Star Music Resort in August and we really liked it! I think you will enjoy it. Our room was on the third floor of building 10, which is one of the Calypso buildings and it is also one of the preferred location buildings which is right by the main pool and closest to the food court, etc. Our room was on the backside of the building and it was very quiet. We really liked the location of our room. It was so close to everything, but since it was on the 3rd floor and on the back side of the building, it was also quiet. This resort is really bright, colorful, and very well themed. It is kept very clean, the CM's were very nice and helpful, and just really liked it. We thought the food court offered a lot of good choices of food and I think the resort offers a lot for the value. I would definitely stay there again! Enjoy your trip!!

We loved the All Star Music resort when we stayed in Feb of this year. It was during the Cheerleading competitions (a surprise for us). We had a preferred room, on the ground floor, leading directly to the main pool. We didn't hear a thing at night. The service was outstanding (I have stayed at the Poly and thought the service there was OK- that was in 1997 though).
You can fax your room requests about 4 days before arrival if you didn't note it on your original reservation.
Suggestions for the All Star Music- get a refillable mug, enjoy the excitement around you, swim in both pools, eat at the Intermission food court area, tour the other All Star Resorts and try the other All Star Resort pools (you are allowed), take the WDW transportation to DTD and enjoy an evening at Pleasure Island- remember you are on vacation at WDW.
You should have a great time. Happy Planning!
