All Star Music FAQ thread and tips

Help me out. I have Pop booked for Sept., but now I am considering moving over to AS-Mu. I just read something about a privacy curtain in the bathroom. Is this only at AS-Mu? And it looks like it is only at certain buildings. Is that right? My wife gets up SO much earlier than the rest of us, so a curtain to block the light from the bathroom (that is what everyone is talking about, right?) would be SO nice.

It also looks like AS-Mu has new matresses. Does this make the beds better than Pop?

Come on, all, talk me into Music.

From what I've read the curtains are in the Jazz and Calypso bldg's. Jazz is non preferred and Calypso is preferred (room rates). I don't know of any other value resorts having this. I think it's because this one is newly renovated. Also, they do have new mattresses.
Just FYI, I just read a thread about someone smelling cigarette smoke in their room at the Pop. All the air ducts are connected, so if one person breaks the rules everyone suffers. Yuck!!

Hope you enjoy your vacation no matter what you decide!:yay:

for a family of 5 (5y/o twins & 2 1/2 y/o) staying at ASMU family suite. which building would you 'request?'

We usually rent a 5 bedroom house (my mom came with the last 2 years), so staying onsite is new to me, along with such 'tight' quarters :lol

I am ready for the new experience, but wondering if I should request a building/area or wing it. Family suites are only in Calypso & Jazz right?

This thread is killing me. I cannot WAIT to get to Disney!!! I'm really hoping I like ASM. This is my first stay there. I liked Pop Century okay, but it got noisy at night in our preferred room overlooking the pool, and it was hard to get to sleep. We also got woken up at the crack of dawn too.

My trip for Sept is back on at ASMU, I cant wait! It is only a weekend trip, but a weekend trip to Disney!!!!! :yay:

AFAIK, the family suites are only in the Calypso and Jazz buildings.

Calypso is closest to everything, but Jazz is not too far. Either one puts you fairly close to the main pool, and in Jazz, you could also end up pretty close to the piano pool, which is alos really nice. There's also a nice playground for kids on the parking lot side of Jazz.

With the little ones, you may want to try to get a first floor room, but then you could have issues with noisy people above you. I like top floor, even if it takes a little while more to get there.:goodvibes

Have a great trip!!

While I'm daydreaming :cloud9: about my upcoming trip, here's a question. I've asked for a king bed room because it's a romantic vacation, but I have no idea where the king bed rooms are located. If anyone on here has stayed in a king room, can you tell me what building you were in?

They are spread out in all of the buildings. There just are not too many, so check in early for the best chance of getting one.:thumbsup2

We were in Calypso last year in a suite facing the parking lot . It was nice and quiet . We are booked in July for another suite and are hopeful to get the same type of room. Though staying at Jazz would be nice too. we actually walked over to ASMovies and took lots of pictures in the Toy Story area . It is about a 10 min walk if that . Have fun we loved the suite :thumbsup2 .

Here you go!!

Pixie dust is good, but try to get there to check in as early as possible. That's your best chance to get a king bed.;) (You don't have to wait until 3 p.m. to check in, although your room may not be ready).

Um, if its a romantic trip, wouldn't the double beds make more sense - you would have to sleep closer - no? :lmao:

Too funny!! When Dh and I went on our Dinseymoon, we had two double beds...defiantly close!! Especially when it is July and you are hot, cranky and smelly!! LOL:rotfl2:

We'll be staying at ASMu 8/31-9/4 for a short free dining trip:cool1: Anyway could anyone tell me if they are still doing the dive in movie and activities at Music? TIA

We have a Sept. trip, too. I hope that they will still be showing the movies and doing the games in September. I am excited about giving AS Music a try. It sounds like a nice resort. :goodvibes

For those that do not know why I said wrong thread, there is a list of everyone going to ASMu for 08. Check out the link in my siggy.

Forgiven, of course!!

I was sweating it out on the Disney Visa free dining enrollment day. To make a long story short, my TA booked for me. I waited until 2:00 to hear that there was a glitch with my reservation (We are paid in full. While adding the FD code, the cm made a mistake and somehow dropped our insurance. Then they couldn't add the insurance back because we're paid in full). I waited 13 hours (!) to find out that we were still booked at AS Music for FD! I did have AS Sports as our 2nd choice, though I'm glad we got to keep the AS Music reservation. :goodvibes Now we have All Star Music with free dining. Life is good! :woohoo:

I have a question hopefully somebody can answer. We are going next week Friday to Monday, Do they still have the movies by the pool at night? If they do, Is there a schedule to go by and how can I find it or where. Thanks!

Phew...just sat and read this entire thread, beginning to end. I'm so glad I did. We were booked at Wilderness Lodge and only staying 4 nights this June. But, after some internet surfing, and convincing DH, I changed our ressie to ASMu. I was able to add 2 more nights and save big $$$. After reading this thread, I feel confident we'll enjoy this resort, for our 1st on-property stay. I called today and requested Jazz, building 9. I really hope we get it. I don't mind the walk to the other buildings, but my little ones might have a problem with it after a long day at the parks.
