All Star Music FAQ thread and tips

We will be ASMu August 25-September 3. I starting to get a little nervous about the crowd level at the resort. I put in our dates on WDW's website, and it showed no availability. Has anyone stayed at the resort when it was completely booked? If so, what was the foodcourt a madhouse?

.......By the way, do they show a movie every night at the pool?

Yes, they have a movie every night by the pool weather permitting.
In the case of bad weather they move the movie inside in the food court area.

I won't be running them all at once. If I can cook in a microwave, I just as easily could stink up the place! Most small appliances use less electricity than an iron or a coffee pot.

Keep in mind there is only one outlet in the kichenette area that you can use.

So you only will only be able to use two small appliances at one time such as coffee maker and toaster or toaster and hot plate etc.

Coffeemaker & cups (supplied by resort):

Have fun at WDW! :wizard:

Thanks. I only plan to run one at a time, so one outlet works for me!

You are the best - I think you singlehandedly helped us to decide to stay in these suites, after I had declared I wouldn't stay at ASMu again!!!! Now we can't wait. Your detailed description of the room and contents, plus all of the info about the resort itself is fantastic. I would have NEVER considered these suites if I had gone through Disney's information on their website.

Have a great day!

So there is a microwave in the suite correct?? We're going to bring our own coffee pot there is going to be 4 adults in our room no we'd be fighting over the first cup in that lil pot LOL:rotfl: :rotfl:

I have several questions...

My son is very tall around 6' and I wanted to know will he fit on the pullout beds in the family suites?? Are they comfortable???
Does anyone know if you can move the beds or do they have to stay next to each other? I have 3DS and 1 DS girlfriend traveling with myself and my DH and I am trying to think ahead of time how everyone will be sleeping. Any suggestion?????

DS-in-law is 6'4" and He and DD slept on the pullout couch last year for a week and they were fine. But then again they sleep on a regular double bed at home. My DS on the otherhand is 6' and has an extra length twin at home, but can get comfortable in a regular length bed on vacation.

We are staying ASMu Sep4 - Sep11 and I have the same question. Anyone experienced the foodcourt when the resort has been at capacity? Was it crazy?

I am hoping that since the free dining promotion will be on, most people will be eating CS at the parks and out having TS instead of the food court. What are your experiences during previous free dining periods?

Thanks so much for this thread and the invaluable info.

Cheers

THANKS!!!! I will pass on the information to my son. He was a little worried that he wasn't going to be able to sleep.

We ate TS at the food court several times during the Free dining promotion in Oct 07 and we were very impressed by the staff in ASMu. They were obviously well trained and service was quick and the food was better than I would have expected from a counter service. The cast members running the food court were super friendly! :thumbsup2

I leave for ASMu in 4 days and im soooo excited:woohoo:

when is the best time to be in the pool?...when are they the least crowded??

We just got back from our stay at All Star Music.

The rooms were nice. The food at the food court was less than what I expected. Those whole wheat rolls just didn't cut it for us. :rotfl: I thought there would be more of a selection but I was wrong. Of course everything was overpriced.

One night the girls and their dad went over to All Star Movies and ate dinner there. They said that the food over there was better and it was cleaner there. The only thing they said was different was there were more tour groups over there, so there was way more security guards keeping the peace.

Other then the unexpected pool closure due to a little girl was getting into the pool and slipped on the little ledge. She slipped and hit her head and was unconcious in the pool. The paramedics came and took her to the hospital. She was awake when she left.

All the people that worked there were very nice.

I just read on another site that ASMu has a place where you can get your hair wrapped near the pool. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Any idea what the cost was? My 8yo dd would LOVE to do this.

Thanks!

My daughter did this. She loves it. They only accept cash or Disney $$. Not your room card.
It's $2 an inch and you also have to pay for the beads. When we did it the booth was located right in front of the food court. I am not sure if this is wear it is all the time because it was raining out. They may be out around the outside of the pool area. I am not sure they are there everyday.
They also had one in downtown Disney. I saw a someone doing them.

Which building and room did you stay in and was the distance to the buses and food far from your room?

I stayed in the Calypso bulding 10 room 622 which is the 3rd floor. It was on the left side as you walk through the doors to the pool. We were on the oposite side of the pool overlooking a little grassy area were they housed the golf carts for employees. It was very quiet. As far as the walk, when you exited the room we hopped on the elevator and walked right out into the pool area. We were very close to the pool and the main bulding. From my balacony you could one of the buldings for All Star Movies. So it took about a 5-10 minute walk to the food court & bus stops. I wouldn't do it any other way.

I booked a standard room. I believe Calypso is perferred. I will try to request Jazz, but it doesn't really matter or we might change to perferred if they have it. I will call 3 days out to see what my options are. Thank you for all that information and if there is anything else that was different about ASMu, tell us.

Just spent 4 nights in bldg 8.Had a good stay.

Thought the room was in good shape overall. No problem with housekeeping at all.Mattresses were not great, but we're used to memory foam.Shoulder and hip hurt in the morning.:lmao:

Kids really enjoyed the pool activities. The dance party, scavenger hunt and huge beach ball were favorites. The poolside movie is not too bad,but could be better if they didn't have to leave the big area lights on behind the screen.

Had a really nice Monday morning at the Piano pool on our last day. There is a little shade on quite a few chairs for those that want it.

DW and DD were at the main pool when they were working on the little girl. They had to leave the pool since the lifeguards were busy with her. They came back to the room very concerned. Were glad to find out she was ok.

We were happy with the Food Court.DS liked the chicken nuggets kids meal and he's fairly picky.DD got a good turkey kids meal also.I had both baked chicken and a turkey dinner that I thought were good.We spent less at dinner than we usually do when we eat out at home.

It's funny to me now that every trip I've made to All-Stars that at least 1 of the 2 ice machines per side are empty when I'm there. You'd think that at some point both would work.:rotfl:

Everything went very well and I'm sure we'll be back again next summer for a few days.
