Brand new to posting and a first timer to WDW. Like to know if there is a big difference between the two. I know one is value and the other moderate. Any help would be great.

Is it worth the difference in the price and has anyone stayed at both that could compare for me.

I have not stayed at value resort but I stayed at POR last year and have reservations for CBR this year. I think the thing that draws me to the moderate resorts over the value resorts is the amenities you get with the moderates. I am on a budget and I should probably stay in the value resorts but I think what you get with the moderates is worth it. After a couple of days of going to the parks I just want to take a day off to relax and enjoy the resort. I don't feel like I could do that at a value resort, going by the pictures of them. They don't look very relaxing. All those big decorations or whatever you would call them are way too stimulating and I don't think would feel relaxed. I think the values are designed for sleeping, grabbing a bite to eat and taking a dip in the pool during those hot Florida afternoons. Just the basics that's it. Staying at POR last year I hadn't planned an unwind and stay at the resort kind of day, but after going to the parks for two days straight and traveling by car from NY before that, I just needed it. I personally loved the grounds at POR and found them very relaxing. There was so much to explore and do. We rented a bike and rode around the resort. Went swimming, which you could do at the values too. But it was just so nice to stay at POR for the day and soak it all in. I don't think there is much to soak in, so to speak at the values. Again, they just seem too overstimulating for me, which is what I don't want after two days of running around at the parks. Just my opinion.

just make sure that CBR pool is open when you want to reserve as it's undergoing mtnce. now and is closed.

The main pool is due to reopen in mid Sept. There are 8 quiet pools at CBR two of which now have slides attached. You'll have a pool close to your room. Once the main pool is open again you'll get that area including a hot tub. You won't get a hot tub or waterslide at the Values.

We stayed at CBR and really liked it. The food court was clean, CMs there were great and the food selection was nicely varied. The room had 2 Double beds, double sinks and full bath. The rooms at CBR are larger than at the Values. Fridges are standard at the mods, but not so at the Values. The resort itself is really nice; there are beach areas, playgrounds, hammocks, water craft rentals, etc. in addition to a nice walking path around the lake. NO SWIMMING IN THE LAKE. We found transportation convenient and never waited "forever" for a bus, no matter our destination.

There is also a pool side bar with plasma TVs at CBR . I didn't notice a similar amenity listed at any of the Values. Also there is a children's pirate cruise activity that leaves from CBR (you don't have to stay at CBR to book it). There is some children's programming, but we didn't use it so I can't even give you an example. My nephew was happy with the pool, water slide and ice cream snacks...lol We did not use the game room though the Values have larger/nicer facilities. We got stuck at the Wilderness Lodge one afternoon and used that game room.

If you are just happy to be at Disney and fine with a basic room and pool a Value will meet your needs. If you want a bit more space, features, water slide, etc. than consider a moderate. If you want some extras beyond that than you should start looking at the deluxes.

In very round numbers a Value will cost $100, Moderate $150 and cheapest Deluxe $200 per night (These are VERY ROUND, not exact numbers). You have to decide if a Mod is worth 50% more or a Deluxe worth double; a very personal decision. For me the moderate suits my needs so I'll pay the extra 50%, many others don't think its worth the extra.

I have stayed at both, and while I have no complaints about either, I do prefer CBR and do not mind paying the extra money to stay there. For me, it is all about the atmosphere!
