Can't decide. Worried about construction at CB and crowds at ASMovies. Early October.

Any advice or insight appreciated.

Thanks.

I have stayed at both, and though I can't comment on construction, I will say that I found the buses between the two to be pretty comparable in terms of crowdedness. However, Caribbean Beach was more centrally located so that was nice. Also we were there when there wasn't realy anything going on sports or cheer wise at ESPN (which seems hard to find now) so you might be best to check and see what events are going on at ESPN, or if it is a common time for the South American groups of teenagers to come (I think they are more January though) if you are worried about crowds.

I would go Music because of the construction, but that's just me. I just don't want to pay that much more for a resort undergoing significant construction, especially if I didn't get the gift card incentive. Knowing other people were staying there for so much less would bother me, haha! As far as Music, I don't believe there is anything going on that would make the All Stars exceptionally more crowded.

EDIt: I mistakenly read Music instead of Movies. It was late...I'm going with that excuse! I wasn't trying to add a third option. Movies is my choice :)

But the OP was asking about Movies, not Music. :)

OP, I would probably go to Movies due to construction. Movies is a nice resort and very much in your face disney. Who is in your group exactly?

Since Caribbean Beach is under heavy construction, I would stick with All Star Movies. Heavy construction isn't very magical.

I had to make nearly the same decision for my November trip. At the time I booked, the only moderate with availability was Caribbean Beach. I much prefer the moderates to the values, but I went with All Star Sports for my trip. I just didn't want to deal with the major construction that is ongoing at CBR.

The problem with CBR construction is the volume of it, and it located in multiple places. The El Centro will have some work happening including a brand new building on the water, changes to the main building and the parking area ... all this next to the pool and so no normal food service .. it is in tents and food trucks. Then you have the beginnings of construction of the gondola stations, one right by a village and another north where the DVC will go. Then you have the beginnings of a tower for the DVC. By October it may be everything is in full swing and could greatly impact a stay there.

Now if you are park people and gone during work hours, eating at parks and Disney Springs not resort .... the CBR rooms will be much nicer and bigger than ASMo. We are often only at resort for sleep, shower and a quick dip so the construction wouldn't bother me if the rate were good. You have to think about what you want from the resort.

You make a good point...I agree with you. Me, im hardly in my room. Im out early....then if i do take a break, its a quick nap or swim...then im out again til late at night. I dont take long breaks. For me, i'd probably do fine at CBR. But for those take take long breaks religiously every day, I can see Movies being a better choice.

We chose CBR even with the construction. We tried Music last year and just can't do the full size beds!

Even with being exhausted every day, those beds were terrible! So, we will brave the construction! It also helps that we get the $75 gift card per night and free dining, lol.

Yup, depends on your type of trip. Heading over tomorrow, straight to parks, break to check in, back to MK to midnight. Up early to parks ..... I won't even know what resort I'm in ... just a bed. At this kind of pace, the hotel rates mattered. We got POP for over 30% off, couldn't beat that.

That's my style as well, I dont take a break often. Last trip I think I only chilled out at my resort twice out of the entire week...three times if you count going back to get my halloween costume quickly. For me, its just a place to sleep and shower.
When im with my DS17, yes, we break. He doesnt share the same enthusiasm as I do I guess. Lol.

Wait, what??? How on earth did you manage 30% off at Pop?? That's amazing!

I don't know how. It's an AP discounted room. This has happened to me a lot, I put in my dates and do the math and realize I got way more off than advertised. Maybe they were just trying to fill out the resort since this was only a few weeks ago. I wasn't even sure I could go but I grabbed it! It was actually 30.5% - CRAZY!

And if I get a new room I asked for ..... WINNING! :cool1:

Wow, lucky you! It sure pays to be an AP holder. And planning at the last minute sure has its benefits. Good for you. I hope you get a new room. Good luck! :)

Just got to hotel, sky fell out at MK so we left. NEW ROOM and since they took so long to check us in - 3 FP+ each for MK with no restrictions.

Beds are awesome but very high up. Room has plus and minus but first thing DS2 said "yeah when all done these won't stay value priced."

We stayed at cbr in June. It wasn't great.
Now if u get the discount and gift card stay there. If not go value. We had a good time. But with construction wasn't the same. Pool was great and the food truck and gift shop truck was as good as expected.

Even after construction I won't stay there.
POR was much better.

I'll be honest now that I can afford it I'm probably going to buy DVc or rent points for DVc. For me hotel makes a huge difference in quality of Disney vaca.

Yay! Congrats on the FP+! Love it when that happens. :) And I agree with you, it wont stay a value price for long. Especially once the gondola comes in. Good bye value prices. :wave2:

What kind of price did they offer for CBR vs. Movies?
CBR is my least favorite moderate and Movies my favorite value. That being said, I would have to compare the prices and if CBR is giving you a great deal, I'd go with them as the rooms are larger, buses better, pool much nicer. Can't say anything about the food tents, but for me those don't matter as we eat mainly in the parks.
I can see it's a tough decision! Good Luck!

We really enjoy the values. The only moderate we haven't stayed at is CBR. We just haven't got there yet. WE have stayed at alot of deluxes as well. I would pick the ASMO over CBR right now if the construction would bother you. For the pool I would pick CBR. You really can't go wrong with either. But people love the poly and honestly I would pick POP over it. I was just ok to me. Everyone has there thing why the love resorts.

To me price is a consideration as well. We normally book a BB with FD for pop and that works well for us. But the past two years we have gone with a great rate at a deluxe. This year we got AKL for 235.00. I just booked this week. We never book this late! I leave in a little over two weeks.

Im planning on staying at the CBR in May for 1 night and ASMo for the next 2 nights, both places I received an email about construction. How does one get a $75 gift card???
