My hubby and I were at Disney last week, and stayed at the All-Star Movies. I stayed there on prior trips with the kids, but wish I would have picked something else for just the two of us. It was a last minute trip, so I felt lucky to find a room, and I even managed to get a Triple A discount, so my nightly cost was $68.98, including tax, but...

I had asked for a ground floor non-smoking room in Dalmations or Toy Story, but when we checked in, I was told those were not available, and asked if I wanted Fantasia 2000, which I guess is preferred, for no extra charge, so I said sure. Well, I really, really did NOT like the giant jack-in-the box (ugly, scary-looking to me!, I can imagine what a small child must think!) Plus, we were in a connecting room (do they ALL connect? I can't recall.) Each night, we would hear a baby crying in the connecting room, thru the door, around 2 in the morning. Looking back, maybe we shld have moved to a different room?? Little things I know, but then we visited the Wilderness Lodge and I wish we would have booked a room there! <g> I know, no comparison in cost and amenities, but just wanted to share my thoughts and opinions in case someone else traveling w/o children is trying to decide where to stay. Also, before leaving I stopped in the gift shop at All Star Sports to get something that Movies didn't have, and the hotel was *quiet*!!!! I couldn't belive it (Movies is VERY loud!) I asked the CM working there and she said that Sports and Music were at about 40% capacity the week we were there, and Movies is always almost at 100%...just something else to consider...

I know I am very lucky to have gotten a room and been able to go at all, again, I am just sharing my opinions. :)

I was also there last week, it was definitely loud and hectic, especially when the Thanksgiving crowd started to arrive. Once again DH and I decided we are never staying at a Value resort again. We stayed at ASMu 2 years ago and weren't thrilled then either. Our 3yo DS loved it, but it's moderates or deluxes for us from now on.

I looked for you guys but saw no Disers last week. I also was not impressed with Movies. Don't get me wrong, it was cute as can be and my DD LOVED it all. But we could not get a connecting room the first night and had to move the second day.:( I also thought it was loud and busy all week. Next time we go with a value we will choose Sports or Music as they are less crowded and hence I think we have gotten more personalized service. It was nothing big wrong, with the exception of really needing the connection as my DS slept with Grandma and pa in that room, but the CMs seemed to be just keeping up with the amount of people there. Since this was a slow week I would rather been at a less crowded hotel. I'm glad DD got to experience it once and our pics with the icons are really cute.:D

We enjoyed our stay at ASMu last year. We don't have kids, so all our trips are just the two of us. We liked the hotel. It was really quiet. The last day we were there, we did hear a toddler having a fit for a few minutes, but it was late and he tired out as quickly as we did. lol

I don't think I would ever choose to stay at ASMo. There are just too many people with kids that want to stay there. I had considered staying at ASSp during our upcoming trip, but we opted to stay at the POP. I like the Value resorts. It suits us just fine.

For me, all I ask of my hotel is for it to be clean, safe, air conditioned/heated, and bug free. I spend so little time there that it's not about theming, it's about the bed and the bathroom. Maggie

Since someone mentioned they had to move for a connecting room, I am guessing all the rooms do NOT connect?? I really wish we would have asked for a different room!

I have stayed at the values several times now (All Star Music three times and Movies twice), and also stayed at Dixie Landings pre-All-Stars. I used to always say the All-Stars were great, Disney theming at a fraction of the cost...and for some trips, they are great. I am just saying that this time, with just my husband and I going, I wish we would have chosen a place with a few more amenities. (I know it would have been more $$, but w/o the kids with us, it could have probably been worked into our budget!:) Just something to consider for adults visiting the world alone...
And, by the way, we did have some bugs in our room...nothing really pesky, a small spider in the bathroom, and a giant ant I saw one other day. And the cleanliness wasn't up to what I expected from Disney...there was a fruit loop on the floor somewhat close to the edge of the bed when we got in, and it was there several days, until I moved it away from the bed, and then it was gone! I guess that was my "housekeeping test"! :)

We've stayed at ASMo twice - and loved it -- although we do pack and use earplugs. we're trying ASSp this time (I wanted POP).

Donna - I know how you feel. DH and I booked a last minute trip from Scotland in September. We booked our last 5 nights in Orlando at ASM - however we took the car far a look around a couple of days before - no way could we have stayed there. If we'd had kids, I wouldn't have bothered, but as it was DH and I we decided that we really just didn't like the feel of the place - probably spoiled from our last trip 2 years ago to AKL!! We couldn't justify the cost of a delux this time round especially with no discounts, so opted instead to try CSR as we'd already been in the past to CBR and POR. No regrets at all - had a great time.
At least you still had a great time and you'll know again!!

I'm thinking we are going to be going there in 2 weeks and I will listen for that!:earsboy: :earsgirl: ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo :earseek:
