Just wondered what is the best part to stay in, I understand there is 5 themed parts?
Chelsea loves Buzz Light Year could we make this a special request with Virgin to stay in this one? or how do we go about it, or what did your child like best, chelsea doesnt know we are staying here, I know she like's Buzz but I dont want to ask her, as it's a suprise..

Thanx!!

Counting down the days! WOOOOHHHOOOO!

Hi Beth

ASMo is a great place to stay. We stayed in Dalmatians Building which was so close to everything...:)

The building with Buzz, Woody etc would be Toy Story.
I dont know how you would go about requesting a room through Virgin as I booked direct with Disney when I stayed here.
I faxed my request for which building I would like to stay in a couple of days before I went.
I too asked for Toy Story, but it was full when we checked in. Still we really liked staying at Dalmatians, we had a choice of pools, either Fantasia or Mighty Ducks and it was so close to the food court and bus stops.

I am sure you will have fun where ever you stay:)

Thanx :)
We have rang virgin this morning and asked for the toy story area, and they asked if that wasnt possible which other, so we chose fantasia? as DD love's mickey, etc...so they did that for us!! so fingers crossed, I know they arent guaranteed, but I suppose we have asked.

Hi Beth

Just so you know, Fantasia is what Disney terms a "preferred" section and is slightly more expensive (I think $10 per night) so I don't think you would be able to request that area and get it (unless you pay extra). Virgin may not realise that though.

I would really love to hear what you and Chelsea think of ASMo as we are going in December!

I hope you have a lovely time. :)

We stayed in Dalmations and loved it.

I hope you get your first choice - but if you end up in Dalmations I'm sure you'll be just as happy!

We hope also we get into toystory but if not, well the others are just as great.
We will let you know what we think of the hotel itself,Chelsea doesnt know we are staying here, as this is at the end of the 2weeks in QII so she thinks we are coming home :) hehe sneaky parents!! we are!! I think she will just love it! whatever section we are in! :D

Thanx everyone :)

Hi Beth

We stopped at the All Star Movies 3 years ago, we booked through Virgin and we didn't make a preference as to which block to stay in and we were put in Fantasia and it was a brilliant location - right by the pool and a short walk to the main reception/food court area.

I think you'll love whichever building your put in as its a great resort.

I have heard it helps to fax a room request to the hotel a few weeks before departure.

I found out that Virgin only pass on room requests 3 days before arrival, so chances of getting your chosen location via them is slim in busy periods. Its worth contacting the resort yourself well in advance to try and secure what you want.

Good luck!!

We stayed at ASMo last Oct. We had requested Toy Story but on check-in we were told it was full. We were put in Love Bug and although disappointed at first we soon came to realise we had probably got a better deal. It was no distance to any of the amenities however it was much quieter than the other buildings. So if you like a bit of peace and quiet I would recommend Love Bug but otherwise as others have said I don’t think it matters what building you actually get as theme wise they are all terrific.

Thanx Allie for that I shall fax then in a couple of weeks.

Thanx everyone, I am just Bursting to get there now LOL :) so is Chelsea, and Mart!! :p

If you're going to contact the hotel direct, don't panic if they can't find your reservation when you call/fax.

Most tour operators work on a system where they have an allocation of rooms, which they can sell up to (for example) two weeks before arrival. Then, at that two week deadline, they send the hotel a list of all the bookings they have.

So if you call them before this cut off point- and there's no point in asking the operator when this is for them as they won't tell you!- the hotel won't have a clue who you are or appear to have your booking in their system. But it doesn't mean there's a problem, it's just the way nearly all holiday companies work.

Just thought I'd advise to avoid you getting worried if you called them! In any case, the request you've placed with your operator (Virgin??) should be taken care of so fingers crossed.

Hi

I wouldn't fax them a few weeks before your departure. The recommendation is 2-3 days before as this is often when the room assignors will assign rooms before arrivals. If you did send it too far in advance then your request may simply be discarded as there have been rumors that Disney are no longer too keen on people requesting specific rooms via fax - it is preferred if you simply ask for your room requirements to be added to your booking as it is less work and hassle for them. We just called CRO and had them add our requests to the booking and we received them all no problem upon check-in, however I understand that this may be difficult if you have booked with Virgin (?)

I agree with Richard, this is what I was always to do 2-3 days before you are due to checkin.

We stayed in ASMo last year and we were in the ground floor room right next to Woody. To be really honest it was brilliant - we were close to the pool and equally close to the shops and food court - so close we were more than happy for our son (who was 10 at the time to go there on his own, first thing in the morning to get my coffee and Daily Mail, and last thing at night to get our hot chocolate.

We have since joined DVC and wish that the All Star Resorts were part of the DVC, as we would willingly go back!
