Hey Everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has any tips or ideas for staying at the All star Movie Resort for the first time? We stayed at the Pop Century Resort last visit and loved it. Even though it was a value resort. We still felt it was perfect for us.:stitch2:

Im in the same boat as you! im staying at Movies for the first time (2 nights only) this coming Aug. So excited!!!! We always stay at Pop, but wanted to do something different. This time we're doing 2 nights at movies, then 6 nights at CSR. :cool1:

Im interested in any tips others may offer as well. :wave2:

I stayed at Pop a couple of years ago and loved it.
The next year we stay at All Star Sports.
I preferred Pop.

we love movies! there is an allstar movies thread over in the resorts category so you may want to look at that.

a big thing for us is its smaller than pop altho still large. we like the preferred buildings and dont mind paying a bit more for them as its still a long walk with wee ones. a thing i wish we had done but didnt was to get an over the door shoe organizer or small locker organizer you can hang up and place toiletries in. since the rooms are small there is limited counter space. prob about the same size as pop. im not sure as we only stayed at popfor about 10 hrs last december before we moved to bay lake.

also i find the bigger fantasia themed pool to be nicer/cleaner. we were going to swim in mighty ducks one time or did and i found it to be not as clean. take some time also to explore the resort if you can as there is so much to see, just like at pop.

a tip you may or may not want to use, we get gardengrocer to deliver groceries items, like snacks, water and breaky items. that way when everyone is clamouring at the food court in the am's were eating in our room at our pace and then were on the bus while theres still big crowds chowing down.

have fun!

Don't forget to go for a walk to the other All Star Resorts. Movies is the third one, the middle is All Star Music and the first is Sports. And All Star Music has all kinds of poolside games and movies, so be sure to check them out for sure!

I've stayed at Pop, All Star Movies and All Star Music and I seriously love them all!

Hi,
We stayed at Sports and Movies, but since the Pop opened we adopted it. We just love it. What is good about Pop is that it is bigger and more modern, but the real + you get is that if you travel with the Disney buses, Pop has it's owm run. So when the bus arrives it is empty witch is not the case with the All Stars ( I least a couple of years ago). But hey you are in the World so there is no such thing as better or worse thing... ;):)

actually they have pool side activities at all resorts now, including movies by the pool each night. i love that! at pop last summer we had so much fun participating in these actitivies. the CMs were awesome.

we have stayed at pop centruy and all star movies we loved all star movies more than pop centruy when we go down and stay in a value we try for the all star's resorts i found pop centruy to be way over crowed with people and the bus's for the amount of people were never enough

Sometimes the All Stars share buses, and sometimes they have their own buses. Once I just missed my bus to All Star Music, so I hopped on the bus for All Star Movies, which was just there, and walked to my room. That's nice to be able to do too. As much as I adore Pop, and want to stay there next, if not Art of Animation, that was the worst part, the waiting for the next bus because the first one was full.

I knew more resorts had it, but hadn't realized that they all did now. That's great news! Thanks.

Where can I get a schedule for these activities? TIA!

Not jumping on you personally Evelyne....I really hate this whole POP has better buses thing. I've stayed at all the value resorts and the reality of the buses is that ....
1. POP has nearly 3000 rooms with one set of buses
2.the All Stars occasionally share but most often have dedicated buses for each resort....each resort has less than 2000 room.

Only at POP have I stood in line for the bus and had to wait for a second or third bus because the line was soooooo long.

On another note with POP being so large the lines in the food court are very long and the Hippy Dippy pool is often very crowded with no available chairs.

We really enjoyed our stays at POP and most likely will go again but over all I find the All Stars to be quieter and less congested.

It will be very interesting to see how the Art of Animation effects the POP bus system. I assume that they will be together as one bus system. :confused3

I have stayed at at Movies, Sports and Pop. Really to be 100% honest, except for the theming on the outside of the buildings, i can't really say they are all that different.

We go in August every year and Bus service has been similar if not the same. during the day, the bus would make drop offs to al the all stars, but pick ups were in empty buses.

Food is comparable, and lines and pools were comparable.

Thanks for all the great replies and info everyone. This will be our first time going in August as well. We usually go in October if possible. So I am hopping to see a bit of a different. Since we are going at the end of August and into Sept, does anyone know what the crowds are like?

We go every year for the last 2 weeks of August.... fly home on Labour day weekend. The crowds are low. There can still be busy times because it's the free dining period. You just have to be smart about it.....go early in the morning and leave for a little while mid day. Also, avoid the EMH morning park. In general, it's an easy time to be there.

BTW, the American kids are all back in school by Aug. 15th so that lowers the crowds.
