On a blank piece of paper,
I wrote the words “Christmas List”
And I left it blank. And left it alone.
I thought about all the things that I wanted for Christmas.
All the material things I thought I had to have.
So, I wrote all these things down in blue ink
On the piece of paper entitled Christmas list.
But I was not happy with it.
So I crumpled it up and threw it away.
There was something more I wanted.

On a blank piece of paper,
I wrote the words “Christmas List”
And I left it blank. And left it alone.
I thought about all the things I wanted for Christmas.
What I truly desired, deep down inside was to be loved.
So, I wrote to word “You” in black ink
On the piece of paper entitled Christmas list
And I drew hearts all around it. And I filled the entire page.
But I was not satisfied.
So I crumpled it up and threw it away.
There was something else I yearned for.

I wrote the words “Christmas List”
And I left it blank. And left it alone.
I thought about all the things I wanted for Christmas.
What I needed. What I wanted was what I dreamed.
So, I wrote down all my dreams in pencil
On the piece of paper entitled Christmas list.
And I drew them all out and colored them.
And hung them on my wall.
They took 4 pages all together.
But, no, I wasn’t satisfied.
So I crumpled them up and threw them away.
I finally realized what I wanted.

On a blank piece of paper
I wrote the words “Christmas List”
But this time I didn’t leave it blank. And I didn’t leave it alone.
I didn’t think about what I wanted
I didn’t think about what I dreamed or what I needed.
I simply wrote one word. 3 syllables. 8 letters
I wrote the word happiness in blood
On the piece of paper entitled Christmas list
And I was satisfied
Because it only took me a 4th of a page.
