It has come to our attention that there has been an outbreak of sarcastic and belittling remarks on a number of threads on this forum. Those are being dealt with. We want to remind everyone that these forums were set up as a fun and informative place to discuss something near and dear to us all – cruising with Disney!

Please let me remind you of on of our main guidelines:

3.
NO FIGHTING: Several Internet news groups are marred by the actions of a few selfish people who turn an otherwise positive forum into a soap box for their anger issues. Internet newsgroups are not moderated, and therefore, anything goes. These boards are moderated in an effort to keep the discussions appropriate to the topic at hand. Those who feel they can not abide by these rules are welcome to read the posts on the board, and respond via email to the person who posted the message. Messages that are argumentative or sarcastic in nature will be deleted without discussion.

Everyone is entitled to his or her opinions and we all will never agree; however just because you disagree with someone doesn’t give you the right to be sarcastic with them. If you cannot post a respectful disagreement than please don’t post any. If you have a major issue with an individual poster please take it up in pm. If you find a post that violates these guidelines then please use the report the post button.

Also please remember that we were all new cruisers at one time. If you are new and have questions we encourage you to read the FAQ at the top of the page. Many topics are covered in this FAQ that will help new cruisers. For those of you who have been around for a while and you are seeing a question for the 3rd, 12th, or even 100th time please remember when maybe you yourself might have asked that same question. If you can answer it – great! That’s what makes a community strong. If you don’t want to answer it that’s fine too then just pass it by, but please don’t put down the original poster for asking it.

We really do have a strong caring community here on the cruise forums and our doing our best to keep it that way. Thanks to all of you for your contributions and effort as well.

Thanks for the reminder!! :thumbsup2

And I firmly agree with this part of your post:

EXACTLY!!

I've been a DIS Board member for over 5 years and have been on several Disney World trips and about to go on our second Disney cruise, and I *still* have questions that may seem obvious to many other people. Sometimes I hesitate to post my question because there are so many who'd rather answer something sarcastic, or take the time to say "try searching for this" rather than be nice and just give the answer directly! The "Search" function doesn't always work, and even when it does, sometimes you get so many threads to search through that it seems overwhelming, and the information you're looking for is like finding a needle in a haystack.

I went to another disney cruise board to chat with a fellow cruiser and I was not welcomed there at all. It's nice to know you can generally hang out over here at the DIS board and not deal with sarcasism and nastiness. Lets keep the board nice....

If you can't type something nice... don't type 'nothin at all...(or PM it) :lmao:

I've been to other sites also, and I agree with WldWcnWmn, I did not feel welcome there. This is the place to be for fun and information.

As a vet DISer, but completely new to the DCL board (finally going on our first cruise!), I just wanted to thank everyone for being so nice and answering all my questions. I've forgotten to look on the FAQ at times or the Navigators. I appreciate everyone being so patient and helpful!

Here, Here OP!! It's never nice to be nasty - I hope those posters recognize themselves...
Cheers,

I'm going on my very first cruise with DCL next May, and sometimes I don't even know what to ask! When I do figure out what I need to know, sometimes I can't find it on FAQ, because I don't know exactly what I'm looking for! I'm scared to death to ask questions because I see so many ridiculed for asking something everyone else already knows. As a WDW veteran expert and DVC member, I know I'd never belittle the new-comers to the parks' magic for asking something that we veterans take for granted. So be nice, people! Fairy Godmother is watching your posts!

Awesome reminder!!!! :cheer2:

We have found this dicussion board one of the coolest most informative sites ever for travel. The exchange of information has enhanced our trips way beyond their monetary vaule. And we have seen and experience some truly remarkable interactions here that have touched people's lives in a variety of ways.

Face it, most of us here are Disneyaholics, especially DCL addicts and we come here to share our obsession, plan our trips, highten our anticipation and prolong the experience. So sure, we're a bit pro-Disney. We may not all share the same opinions and that makes the world interesting. We don't need folks devaluing other's opinions, being arrogant and mean spirited, we all get enough of that in the "real" world.

Let's have fun in here. :grouphug:

I think if we all adopt the attitude that we are, in a sense, CM's of the Dis board and act in a Disney manner that things would run much more pleasantly. No one wants to be made fun of for asking a question. Remember there is no such thing as a silly question, just silly answers! So to all the new members, ask away! And also on that note, to quote a famous and much loved man, "To all who come to this happy place, Welcome."

I think SeaSpray expressed my thoughts perfectly. Thank you!

That 'search' button can be very touchy.

Well stated above..I think we all need reality checks here and again..

Good Day to all. :grouphug:

We need to remember that we are a very close knit family and we welcome all newbies and they become family for we have also been there - I remember my first post over 5 years ago - I thought I was going to have a come apart - thanks Mary for reminding all of us that we do care about each other and we are not "kids" well in the sense of fighting etc :-)
Always
Shirley and Norm

Thanks every one :wizard: for making me feel welcome here
I am always getting my questions answered
as a first time cruiser this is the place to be

don't know if i would have even booked this with out your help

I wanted to thank everyone here as well. We've been to Disney too many times to count, but it's my first ever DCL cruise and I would have been lost without this site :thumbsup2

I've been around the DIS for a few years now, and this is my very first cruise! I always appreciate the patience that you have all showed with questions I know must have been answered before. Search has been down lately, so please forgive us cruise newbie's.
Thanks again. :sunny:

thanks

I really enjoy this community. I hope to meet some of you on a cruise some day.
