ALL Please Read Posting Helps and Hints to TommorrowLand Quests *No Spoliers Here*

I don't think it really matters. I think you just get credits if you do it faster.

This is the new FAQ on the home page:

I have questions about the new quests in Tomorrowland.
The new quests that have just been released can be fun. But if you have questions, please check below for some additional assistance.

What happens if I am in the middle of a quest and get disconnected?
If you are disconnected in the middle of a quest, you should return to the last task that you were on once you log back in. If the time limit for the task you were on runs out before you can log back in and complete the task, you will be returned three steps back from your last task.

What is someone that is on the same quest won't move from an item they have found?
Please make sure that once you have found the item the quest is asking for that you move away so others can find it. Blocking hidden items from other players can result in a ban. This applies to the Game Quests and the player created quests equally.
Can we do the quests more than once to get additional magic pins?
While you are able to complete the quests multiple times, you will only receive a magic pin for completing the quest the first time. The pins are non-tradable and non-sellable.
When I finish a quest in Autopia, do I get a choice of car type/color?
No, the quest you are on will decide the car type you receive when you complete it. There are four different quests for four different cars you can receive.
Can I buy the spacesuits in the same colors that the magic pins come in?
the items that are used as the rewards for the quests are not available for purchase anywhere else in the game. Only one color of spacesuit is available for now.
If I already own a spacesuit or diving suit, will they work in the special quest areas?
No, you need to complete the quest in order to earn the magi pin which gives you the special suit. ONLY with the magic pin will you be able to access the special new areas.
Can car magic/space magic/diving magic pins be obtained in any other way besides completing the quests?
No, you must complete the quests in order to receive the magic pins.
Can Quest pins be traded?
No, quest pins cannot be traded.
Can Quest pins be combined to increase their power or duration?
No, completing the quest multiple times will not get you additional pins that you can combine to make the spell more powerful or last longer.
Can pins of different colors but the same magic (like pin and green cars) be combined?
No, the pins are not combinable.
How do I pick up hidden items so the quest will know that I found them?
Make sure when finding any hidden items that you walk over them so the quest will know you have found it.

How do I create my own quests?
Creating your own quests can be lots of fun. But if you have questions, please check below for some additional assistance.

How do I get my own Quest Kiosk?
You will need to complete the Adventure through Innerspace Quest in order to gain access to the newly remodeled Star Trader shop, now known as Inner Space. Once in the shop, you can purchase the Quest Kiosk. Now you are on your way to creating your own quests that everyone in the kingdom can enjoy. HINT: Start with the Ships and Shipwrecks Quest and the Lights, Engines, Action! Quests as they may come in handy when trying to complete the Adventure in Innerspace Quest.
Can I get multiple Quest Kiosks?
Yes, you can purchase as many kiosks as you like and have room for.
How do I create a quest using my Quest Kiosk?
Check out the tutorial that walks you step by step through the process. The first step is to place your newly acquired kiosk in one of your guest rooms.
Can I have multiple quests running at the same time?
Yes, but each quest requires its own kiosk. If you have only one kiosk, you can have only one quest.
What types of questions or tasks can I have in my quest?
Remember the quests that you completed in order to be able to purchase your kiosk. Those are the types of questions or tasks you can have. Also, check out the Game Guide page for additional descriptions for tasks.
No one has completed my quest. What's wrong?
When creating your tasks, make sure they are clearly described and accurate. If there are required magic spells to complete your quest, make sure to mention it in the description so those that don't have that spell will know they will not be able to complete your quest.
How can I add the pictures to help everyone find the right place?
Make sure that you have a camera and film and take pictures. You will be able to add these to your quest as you write the tasks. If you have an existing quest that you want to add pictures to, keep in mind that this would be a change to the existing quest and making the change will kick all players out of your quest and make them start over.
I found an error in my quest and need to correct it, but there are some players are already on my quest.
Making a change to a live quest will send a message to anyone currently on the quest that it is changing and they will be required to start from the beginning again.
How do I know if I have won a player created quest?
There are two different types of quests that can be created. One is a timed event and the player that completes the quest in the shortest amount of time will win. A player will be notified by the game if they are the winner of this type of quest. Remember, this type of quest can be up for a day and so you can complete it multiple times to try and better your time. The second type of quest is the one where the first player to complete the quest wins.
How many prizes can I give away with my quests?
As many as you have! You can only set up prizes that you currently own. You add the item to the Quest Maker and the Quest Maker is responsible for delivering the prize to the winners.
How will I know if my quest works?
You must test your quest yourself before it will be available for you to turn it on. Once you have successfully tested your quest, you can either launch it right away or at another time. This will allow you to set them up ahead of time and then just activate them when you are ready for other players to play your quest.

By the way, you are going to love it! It is very fun!! I would not want to see the answers, but I was happy to have Librarian Belle tell me how to get started on the first magic pin quest!!!!! Now I have the idea.

Sorry I had errands to run...contrary to what some may think I really do have a life...that is meant in fun please take it that way.

I just wanted to add some things quickly befor I have to run out the door yet again.

I am very sorry that some of our members are taking this personally.

This decision and discussions about it have been going on since the beginning of the DIS VMK forums.

We the Moderating Team CAN NOT please everyone all the time that is a given. But we do try our best to do what we can to make these boards the BEST VMK BOARDS on the WWW.

by the way just so everyone knows .....the answers to these quests have already been posted on the FANSITE.

unfair advantage over people who dont read them? kind of like the unfair advantage you have over my 8 year old son when he tries to do them too huh? oh, bet you didnt think of that. Holier-than-thou stikes again. I really wish people would have at least a little consideration of others. Selfish, very selfish to want to keep these answers to yourself.

Actually, yes, I DID think of that.. I have a 6yr old son myself, who will certainly want all the magic. I will do the quests myself and then sit with him and help him out. I will let him try to figure them our and walk through them with him. It builds good thought processes and problem solving skills :)

I'm not trying to be selfish, it isn't like I have something nobody else can get, I hope everyone is able to do the quests.. and if they get stumped, at least try to solve them and then seek others in game for help :)

hey guys, i am stuck at work and it stinks. I have read most threads and just wanted a tiny bit of help. I dont know what quest to do 1st and where or how to start it. Any help would be much appreciated. Feel free to PM me too. Thank you.

You have to do the diver quest first. The start is in the captains quest quarters. You will need to go on the raised platform in the bottom left corner and click on the machine there. The exit to get up there is hard to find, stay to the left.

everyone relax, what mal is asking is fair. I personally want to do the quests on my own without help and im glad ill be warned before i read a post

Ok I am going to step in here and say that anyone who wants to post the answers may do so....It is your CHOICE whether you look at them or not.
It is also not WRONG it is your decision and opinion that it is wrong not everyones. Please do not flame others for posting or helping.
...
As of now all that we are asking is that IF you do post a spoiler or help thread to mark it as such or post in white out so others have the choice to look or not.
Please do not FLAME others for posting Helps and Hints AGAIN it is your CHOICE to look and use them or not.
Thanks
Mal

Way to go, Mal, that is an excellent post, and you all are doing an excellent job modding the forum! I could not believe all the flak you got for posting that. I hope that a few naysayers do not deter others from the helpful spirit of cooperation in figuring out the quests. Not everyone has all the time in the world, and giving and getting Helps and Hints is NOT "cheating"!

I think you thought of everything to accomodate the complainers (who should not have attacked you!!!) except to tell us how to do a "white out" if we want to print "spoilers." That is definitely a mature, make-everyone-happy approach, and I applaud you for it.

Personally I think just titling the post as a quest guide is enough, and then if people don't want to read it, they should have enough self control to not look and enough MYOB to respect the choices of others. But if I find out how to white out and want to post an answer to something, I will definitely respect your posting wishes.

Cheers :)

I did the quest 2, the trivia one. Most of the questions were very easy for me since we watch Disney movies all the time at my house. Would be happy to help anyone who needs help. And I would be happy to post answers, but won't for fear of getting flamed.

The trivia quest is easy because if you don't know the answer they just back you up 3 questions and you keep guessing until you get it right. So as long as you have short-term memory from 3 questions prior, you can get through that quest just by guessing even if you didn't know any of the answers to start with! :)

It is the other quests once you get into Tomorrowland that get tricky -- imo probably too tricky for a lot of kids, so why should anyone care if people are offering help?

There is a very simple solution to all of this to people that have a problem with posting answers..... DON'T READ THEM!

I agree spoilers are not spoilers unless you read them righ? so dont read them

I have been a moderator on these boards for many many years. Everyone needs to remember that not all decisions made by the moderators cannot and will not be "all things to all people".

That being said, while you are certainly entitled to disagree with someone's opinion (including a modertor), it does not give you the right to flame or belittle them. I, for one, am shocked and dissapointed at a couple of the posts I have read here today.

It is real simple... if you don't want to know the spoliers, then don't read them and more importantly if you don't have something nice to say, don't say it at all.....

rant over.. back to your regularly scheduled programming....

Thank you, Mal, this really helps as life has been so busy, and I have no time for quests.

Thanks, Dagny for a great statement.

Not everything in life will please you people, do you complain to a TV channel because you disliked an episode of a show you watch?

NO.

VMK is still real life, and still deals with real problems, contradicting what some think.

Thanks

Some of the posts today were very unusual on this topicc....

I am feeling a little split down the middle on this issue...

While I want to try to complete these quests on my own, unfortunatley, I don't seem to have a logical bone in my body, and the vmk 'hints' are leaving me sitting here scratching my head and going duuuuuuuhhh!

On the flip side, I don't want to read a thread looking just for a basic hint of which room I should start in etc, and find the answers spelt out!

Can people, if they want to help the dumber specimens of the species (me!), just post some basic clues, and be available on pm for those who want all the answers in one go?

Okey dokey....

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE KIND, FRIENDLY DIS BOARD MEMBERS?!?!?! :furious:

Mal, I support your idea also!! :goodvibes

Well I'd just like to say I fully support mal for making this thread and think she is a great mod. That is so mean to attack her just because you disagree, if you don't like cheats then don't use them!! Honestly!

I just want to say again that I did not make this decision today and I did not make it alone.

Please everyone feel free to ask for, post (please title your thread accordingly) or PM others for help. The threads that are spoilers or guides will be added to the Players Guide and Titled Spoiler and I will probably add them in whiteout for double protection for those who do not want or need help.

Do not let the feelings of some people intimidate you into thinking you can not post freely on the VMK boards.

Mal

The people who are complaining about all this have lost sight of a few things.... I think they need to be reminded....

#1. The DIS Boards have absolutely NOTHING to do with the Disney company or VMK. Nothing. Therefore, the webmasters and moderators owe nothing to Disney/VMK. These message boards are simply a place where Disney/VMK fans can come to discuss Disney/VMK. They are not obligated to Disney/VMK in *any* way, shape, or form, as far as keeping "game secrets" goes.

#2. The webmasters and moderators are here to basically keep the peace between the DIS board members, and to make sure that none of the DIS GUIDELINES are being broken. This has absolutely NOTHING to do with the VMK Values, or anything specifically related to Disney/VMK. The DIS Boards are *not* an extension of Disney/VMK.

#3. The webmasters and moderators are all volunteers. Without them, this would just be another piece of garbage web site on the internet. I'm happy and appreciative that the DIS *is* the kind of place that it is.

#4. The DIS Boards have been around LONGER than VMK has been around....and so have many, many of us DIS Boards members. I'm not going to elaborate.... :rolleyes1

#5. The DIS Boards are *not* here to serve the interests of Disney/VMK. As long as what is posted here follows the DIS BOARDS GUIDELINES, then all's fair, and all's allowable. Period.

This is a PRIVATELY OWNED web site. It's a public web site as far as who the site owners allow to view and participate, but it's still *private property*, so to speak.

If you don't like the rules here, then go play in someone else's backyard... buh-bye... Don't let the gate hit you on the way out. :sunny:

I have been out all day, not near a computer and am very confused as to why this is causing such commotion. This policy is no different than it ever has been. Why would it be changed now?

Will spoliers only be posted on the DIS? I have checked a few other sites and have not yet found one that does not have them posted already. Anytime a new video or computer game comes on the market there are immediate FAQ'S and guides available. If you are they type of person who likes to accomplish things on their own, there is no need to read any post that might give you unwanted information. I applaud you for your efforts! Many do not want or need a complete walk through, but may get stuck at a certain point and need a hint. Others may need much more help to finish a game.

Please feel free to use the boards as they best fit you. Read posts with directions if you need them, skip them if you don't. Forbidding anyone to post game information here will not accomplish anything, other than people going other places to find the information they need. Did you who felt the need to flame here, flame all the other VMK sites as well?

I don't wany anyone here to feel uneasy about posting information about VMK. We will not sit back and watch people get flamed for talking about the game. I am sorry if you do not agree, but as I stated in the beginning this is not a new policy; guides and tips have, and always will be not only allowed but encouraged to help fellow VMK'ers.

Lori

I find it beyond hysterical that some who are now sitting upon the moral high ground have had "issues" with several simple moral concepts in the past. But I digress.

Perhaps they enjoy the new view from up there. :rolleyes1

Mal, no worries. The fact that some view it as some kind of cheat is sad, I tend to look at it as a collaborative learning experiment. ;)

I would just like to suggest that if people are going to post "cheats", they should make it clear and known, that way people can read about the quests and know whether they are about to read opinions and comments or answers. This could turn into a large debate with people pointing fingers at one another, or we could simply remember that this is the DIS boards which means there is the freedom of "press" (to some extent). However, with that comes ethical responsibilities and those should be considered when posting. No one likes to read posts directly (or indirectly) downgrading them so I suppose we should all take that lesson we learned in elementary school, "do to others what we would want done to ourselves." I am not posting my opinion on whether people should or should not post answers, that is not my intention. I am just suggesting to write "spoiler" or something to that extent to give the readers the opportunity to ignore. (I know some people have already done that).

My other suggestion is not to blame others or put others down, just accept what is going on and respect other people's opinions. Disney is "magic" and "magic" is kindness. Shouldn't we all respect one another or is that too much to ask for? :confused3 In the Disney perspective everyone is equall, young and old alike. Not one person is any more important than the next. Moderators are not any more important than the general guests (and I say that respectively). Without the the general posters, the DIS would be nothing. Without the moderators, the DIS would not be as "clean." We each have a job and should therefore work accordingly. To compare that statement to my previous one, we could say that an English teacher is no different than a Science teacher. Same place, same atmosphere, different areas of work. Overall, no one should feel any more superior than the next.
