All non-smoking hotels

I'm noticing more and more hotels have gone completely non-smoking. It would appear BWPPI no longer has smoking rooms. I also noticed Fairfield Inn's website said they're a non-smoking hotel. DI&S might be the same way, IIRC. Those are just the ones I've noticed.

Was there an ordinance passed on this in Anaheim or something? Just curious as to which other hotels have gone completely non-smoking. I will say I'm looking forward to having the option of booking through expedia if I find a cheaper rate through them, knowing that I can be guaranteed a non-smoking room. That's what always held me back from booking through them.

Also curious as to what policies are in place for smokers at these hotels. IOW, are there designated smoking areas on property somewhere?

I definitely agree -- good news. Except.............the husband smokes and so I do need to know how he can be accomodated, if he can go smoke somewhere on hotel property or if he has to go awalking down Harbor to get his smoke in. Maybe that's not allowed either though, the way bans are going.

I would imagine there are designated areas. I believe California is a smoke free state. You would have to locate an area. I know here in hawaii they just passed this law you must be I think 20 feet away from a building/entrance and no smoking in outside garages/parking structures. No smoking in bars/dining venues/ or hotels. I believe cali is that way also.

Washington has a similar law relating to all public buildings and lately enforcement has picked up where I live. Too many people with breathing problems that exacerbate just from the smell. I have also noticed a number of insurance companies rewriting coverages for those who choose to smoke.

Not all rooms are non smoking in Anaheim, HoJo's still has smoking rooms.

Willie Simpson, the sales director at HoJo's, emailed me back with my room request back in December that maybe someday SOON they can go smoke free.

Wow... BWPPI has gone smoke-free. That would be great for non smokers if they can keep it enforced.

I believe Candy Cane Inn is smoke free as well.

Looking at their room layout key.. looks like the two types of smoking rooms offered (QQ2 and KK1) are located in building one.

Well I just booked DI&S, so unless rates come down drastically at another hotel that's where we'll be. It's all non-smoking, which is good. If nothing else, it's the closest walk to DL and I know they allow smoking (in designated areas, of course). Worse case: the dh will be slightly grumpy til we get inside DL every day and he gets that first smoke in.

According to Mouseplanet, there are only 3 designated smoking spots in Disneyland. Other than those 3 places, Disneyland is smoke free.

We've been many many times and know where they all are. One along the river in New Orleans Square, one near Small World/Matterhorn, and one along the path between Fantasyland and Frontierland. But now that I think about it, I thought there was one more in Tomorrowland. Don't remember him using that one last time we visited though; maybe it went bye-bye.

Desert Palms claims to be a smoke free hotel. It seemed to be a truthful claim during our stay.

Anaheim Marriott is a completely smoke free hotel!!!!

I work for a hotel company and a few years ago all 4 of our hotels were changed to non-smoking. The reason is simple...COST!

Whenever someone smoked in a room we had to bring in an air purifier and spend extra time cleaning it and using more chemicals just to get the smell out. If you designated a room "Smoking" then you couldn't put non-smokers in it or they would complain. So you had to "guess" how many smoking rooms you would need. Finally, you might not be able to rent all the smoking rooms every night, so that was lost revenue!

Not to mention the front desk having to field complaints from non-smokers about smokers congregating around the doorways. But I think the final straw was when a smoker, given a non-smoking room (that was all that was available) went outside onto his ground floor patio to smoke. He tossed a cigarette into the bark dust, it caught fire and melted the vinyl siding. We're lucky it didn't burn down the entire hotel. That was the point the owner said enough, now our entire hotel complex is non-smoking, including outside.

Now that smokers are becoming the minority I think you will see more and more hotels change to non-smoking. It's easier & costs less!
