All kids too little for "big" rides...question?

We are going to WDW in September, and although oldest DD is 5, she is scared of all the big rides.

I know that we can do child swaps but just wondering how long the kids had to wait, on average, for the child swaps. It stinks that dh and I have to ride every ride solo, but we don't have the bravest kids.

For those in the same boat, how did it go?

We are in the same boat. DD's are 6 & 3. The 6 year old may ride a few things, but I doubt it. DH & I really don't want to do the solo thing all the time either. Can't wait to see how others deal with the same issue. To me it's more important to make sure our girls have a magical visit. I guess if I have to miss out on a few rides, it will be worth it knowing that in just a few years, we can ride anything we want together. After all they are only little once, and the day will come that they will not want to ride Dumbo with us anymore.

I've found that when we go with our small kids, we "DO" Disney differently. We focus on shows, kid rides, kid areas, stores, little nooks, etc. I guess the "small things." We don't usually ride things by ourselves. Maybe something DH really wants to ride. However, we are going with a couple with 2 kids the same ages as ours this time, so we can split up. Guys then Girls. One couple then the other. It'll be nice. We've actually gone with them 2 years ago when we only had 1 kid each. (I was big as a house pg with DS2. lol)

Sounds like a great idea Wish I had a fearless one...then this wouldn't be an issue.

Of course we gear the trip towards the little ones but every once in a while there will be a ride, like Soarin', that we just have to go on. We are going to try and have dd go on this with us but she is just so cautious this year. She was much better when she was 3 then she is now. We rode Goofy's barnstomer over and over when she was 4, but she wouldn't go near it last year.

So...just wondering how the kids do with the waits. I was thinking that maybe we could do a child swap at Soarin and the other parent could take the others on the boat ride, but it's pretty hard to get them all on the ride by themselves.

It went just fine. Alot of the ride have shops or attractions nearby for the waiting. Dont sweat it. Go have fun.

When we went last with our 1 child at 17 months we wanted to do Mission Space. 1 of us waited in line and the other went into the pavilion with the baby. I let the baby play on the kids plaything and when my husband was done with his turn he came to the play center and gave me a fast pass ticket which I used to go to the front of the line for my ride.

I assume and hope all the no small ones lines work the same

My DD is going to be 8 and she is not brave either with any big rides. The only rides she goes on is Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain. Outside of that, we always do child swaps.

Since you are going in Sept (that's when we go) you don't have to wait that horribly long. By the exit of Space Mountain is an arcade that we let the kids play with things while they are waiting. By Rockin Rollercoaster and Tower of Terror there is nothing for them to do, so we usually get a snack for the kids to eat while they are waiting. The exit of Test Track is in a gift shop and there are cars on display which give my youngest DD something to look at (my oldest does go on this ). Mission Space is the same way. I'm not familiar with anything in Animal Kingdom because we skip that park.

It will go well for you, and it is a bummer to ride alone, but you'll get used to it before you know it.

And, we can always Photoshop thw ride photos to make them look like you are both riding! lol.+
