Starting a new thread as not to hijack the thread about AI without kids.

Looking to do an AI resort with teens for summer 2011......just starting to research! We like to cruise but are thinking of trading our timeshare week at an AI resort. Looking mostly at Virgin Islands or Mexico. If you have been with kids please advise about a good clean (as in accomodations that are not dirty) family friendly AI resort with good food!!!! ;)

TIA!!!

We did Moon Palace in Cancun about 6 years ago with a 6yo and a 10 yo. The bartenders were so great. We lived in the pool and they had a swimup bar. My kids thought it so great they could go get the smoothie type drinks. You know the strawberry daquiris and pina coladas. They keep the machine going all day and then add the liquor after so kids can have a virgin. I never felt like the bartenders ignored my kids like some do. Fabulous.

I just got back from Riu Palace in Aruba. I was with my sister and not my dd, but I saw plenty of kids. All of the personnel were also attentive and so warm and wonderful. We loved it.

Taking dd to the Sun Village Resort in Dominican Republic in Sept. Supposed to go in April, but my dd had a major accident (well major to her--LOL-she's 12 so everything is a drama) and we had to cancel or I would be able to let you know already how it was. Good luck. Always lots of fun for us.

Thanks, MOM21!

Anyone else do AI resorts with the family?

We stayed at Iberostar Tucan a couple of summers ago. It was great! The rooms were really nice and seemed large. We had a room very near the HUGE pool so we had a little hike to the dinning room but that was not really a big deal. There was a really nice restaurant down at the beach for burgers and the likes. There were lots of activities all day and the staff was very attentive. I wouls go back at any time. There is also a great steakhouse on the property but you do have to make a reservation for it. Our youngest daughter was 10 and loved loved loved the ice cream on the beach. They have an ice cream stand on the beach that serves fee cones and every time we turned around she was in line. I think she was on a first name basis with the dippers! Have a great trip!

I second Moon Palace. We were there back in '05 and loved it! We'd go back in a heartbeat. We didn't have our twins then so it was just myself and DH, but we did see other families (kids included) while there. We thought the food was great and the Moon Palace has the largest pool on the Yucatan Peninsula. All excursions are included in the price. We took a day trip to Chichen Itza. It was awesome - I'd highly recommend it! The only downfall to this resort is the beach. It isn't the best, but still okay. HTH.

I forgot to mention the rooms at Moon Palace. They are great and very large. All rooms also have a jacuzzi in them and the shower is incredible.
