All-Inclusive Reosrts? Anyone been?

Anyone ever done Breezes? I was going to book one for November but I read on another message board that Breezes wasn't really that good so I got nervous and cancelled.

We stayed at the Breezes in the Bahamas. It was okay. It's pretty cheap compared to other AI's but you get what you pay for. We had a hard time getting reservations for the restaurants there. We were able to eat in them twice. So we got sick of the buffet pretty fast and ended up eating off property.

The beach was nice though and they had plenty of pools to choose from.

I think Breezes best suits groups of friends who just want to have a good time and drink a lot. And what many don't seem to know is that you have to ask for the top shelf liquor.


We're going to Excellence Riviera Cancun. Adults only and no reservations needed for dinner. Which was a selling point for us since we arrive mid-week.

My only concern right now is about the weather. We're taking a risk going in October, but it's for our anniversary and we got trip insurance. We just have to cross our fingers!

I am booked at the Royal at Playa Del Carmen next month. It's an adults-only resort with a sister resort across the street, the one we are staying at being the more upscale. While we can use their facilities, they cannot use ours or so I am told. The reasons for picking this particular resort include: top-rated beach in PDC, access to 5th Avenue by foot, and adults only. You might want to take a look at it if these things mean anything to you. I looked at many AI but I don't want to spend all my time on resort, nor do I want to have to take bus tours to go outside the resort to see cultural things. For the most part, Mexico was the only place I could find that the AI had lots of things to do off resort but close enough and safe enough that you could walk or rent a car, and still have most of your meals at the resort. Anyone else every stayed here? I'd love to hear your reviews!

That's how it is at The Grand too. I'm not sure why that is, other than because it's IB*'s only adults-only resort, and it would be too hard to keep kids under 18 out, and they're trying to keep it exclusive.

I've heard lots of good things about The Royal. There are lots of messages and reviews on it, on playa.info.

There's a Club Med in Florida, and I believe there are a few all-inclusive resorts in the Keys too.

I bet there are probably some ski resorts that are all-inclusive too. If not, there should be, IMO.

cool thanks, my grandmother took the whole family on a cruise last Christmas and wants to take another trip Christmas 2008, but we had some issues with motion sickness, she loves the all-inclusive factor though, hopefully one of those will work.

You can always purchase a WDW package with DDP and WDW is then all-inclusive!

We've stayed at the Iberostar Tucan, the Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar, and the Barcelo Maya (all in or near Playa Del Carmen). I heartily recommend the Iberostar resorts for their service and staff friendliness.

We stayed at the Iberostar Tucan last Easter. Had a great time. The only problem with that vacation is we can't afford to go every year!

A friend of mine takes these all the time and they won't do it any other way.

I went on one all-inclusive to Jamaica, a Sandals resort. I absolutely loved it.

That's funny, because if I read one consistent complaint about AI's, it's that the drinks are watered down.

Good food is hard to find. I know I was less than impressed with the food at the Cancun Palace. I've heard nothing but wonderful things about the IB* resorts food though. We'll see!

I actually really liked the food at the Sun Palace, Moon Palace and Beach Palace much better than at IB. That was 8 years ago that we were at IB, so maybe the food is better now.

I haven't been to those three, but I have stayed at the Cancun Palace. It was the pretty much the same buffets over and over. The only restaurant that I remember, was reservations-only, and my BIL got a severe case of food poisoning from their calamari.

I got sick on my third day there, although it had nothing to with the resort, so I didn't get to experience everything. There may have been things I missed.

The Cancun Palace did have an incredible beach though.

We enjoyed Barcelo Maya in Playa a few years ago. We tried to go back in Oct 05 but Wilma decided to go instead! I think it was 05 - anyway if you are going in hurricane season get the insurance!
