Just called RCI to see how much the All Inclusive Fee would be at say Moon Palace, Beach Palace Cancun...

1 week Hotel room7 nightsonly 134 Points..
1 week 1 BR 160 points

Mandatory All inclusive fee which includes all meals activities 7 days $1834 for 1st 2 adults..Each additional adult(over 12) is $632children are $316..

Quite an expensive proposition I think! :sad2:

You can also get the fees from the rci website that the member website links to. Select the resort and there will be a link titled something like 'All Inclusive - Mandatory'. If you click that, the fees will be displayed.

How can that be? I was under the impression that all fees were included with the booking! You can book the stupid place for that price without using points.

The points only cover the room. If there is an all inclusive fee, that is paid at check-in.

You'll find out that most of the all-inclusives are a terrible value unfortunately as one poster pointed out, you can pretty much book the room for the extra fee alone without using any points.

That's low for them, it's up to $3115 for two for next Xmas and is $2256 right now. Some are less, sometimes you get what you pay for and other times not. AI vary with the resort and your situation. Some are a lot less expensive than that but may be worse in terms of food or coverage for what YOU want. For Cancun it's a shame to give up the local restaurant options. One should investigate any potential AI exchange thoroughly prior to accepting it. Like the DDP, it can be a good deal for some but not for others.

My brother and his family (were also trying to get one of the Royals like me - we both started the search at the same time) just checked with MS to see what else they can trade for in Cancun - The prices for the AI are crazy. I told them they are better off banking this year's points and just pay cash for a vacation this year. They can get a nice package deal on their own or with a travel agent for less.

while it seems expensive, I can say that last year we went to moon palace for 7 days and it was like 3200 for two, now that included air...basicly you aren't getting any discount for booking through rci

and this is why I will never trade out my DVC points. Too complicated, too expensive and too uncertain. I like planning way in advance. Ask me where I'll be vacationing in 2011 (besides WDW) and I'll not only tell you, but have tentative dates and activities in mind. (Yes, many ppl tell me I am sick)

:rotfl2: I must be sick too because I am the same way. My family also makes fun of me.;) It drives my mom crazy because she always says I plan too far in advance but it works for my family!

I'm not the only one. I do plan vacation out 2 years in advance. :surfweb:

We are not happy about the "mandatory all inclusive" prices. My DH and I are finding great deals through Mexicana airlines. If you go to their website, there are air/hotel packages for what you would pay just to cover the all inclusive costs through RCI.

That's crazy. We can book AI vacations right now including airfare to most anyplace in the Caribbean or Mexico including airfare for less than $1,000 per person. Some out of Toronto are going for $500.00 per person in Canadian Dollars for last minute (within a month). Even out of Buffalo there are some good deals. Save your points and book cash! ;)
