Hi all,

My trusty epson printer died last night and I fancy an all in one type, printer scanner copier, and I was wondering if anyone has one, what make, how good, cost of inks, etc.

i've always stuck with epson as I could always get cheap compatible inks, but I think most makes have the cheaper versions available now. My old model was the photo 830, and I've been looking at the RX560, RRP 129.99 but pc world have it on offer for 88.99.

Any advice gratefully received! cheers,

Lynn

Hi Lynn, after a series of Epsom printers that never lasted longer than a year we bought a Canon for about £70. Its now about 2 years old and running fine and the genuine ink is only £5.99/£12.99 in Sainsburys

I use an HP Photosmart 3310. It has memory card slots on the front so you can print photos straight from your memory card and will also connect wirelessly to your network so you can print to it from any PC. It also uses individual ink cartridges like the Epsons do.

Not sure on prices as I don't use it often and haven't bought ink for a while.

I've been looking for one, too...

You might want to check with ratings at cnet. com, but I also checked with Consumer Reports since I have an online subscription.

The Canon Pixma iP4300 was rated a Best Buy. The photo quality was rated Excellent while the Text Quality and Graphics Quality were rated Very Good. The price of ink is somewhat high, though.

Next came the Epson Stylus Photo R800 and then the Canon Pixma iP6700D.

Hope this helps...

Oops, I did a search and didn't see this was posted on the UK board. Hope this is useful info nonetheless. :)

Thanks for that, I had a look on the cnet site a couple of days ago and I'm interested in the canon one and the model above it (ip660?) also the epson r360 but can't find many reviews on it. Been to pc world and the canon is much prettier (hey, I'm a girl, that's what ultimately sways everything you know!!), still looking into ink costs, will keep you posted.

Hi,

Just an update to let you know I bought a Canon IP4300 on Tuesday and I'm very impressed! It was 59.99 + VAT in our local Makro, I think PC World have had it similar price on web purchases.

It was very easy to install and it's so quiet compared to my old clunky epson! Also it prints photo's quickly, text is lightning fast, and the print quality, even on normal setting, is far better than I've been used to.

Definitely a good buy I think. Also read somewhere online that the price per photo print is lower than comparable makes.

Also the photo print software it comes with is very user friendly and much easier to use than some I've had before, great!
