All expense paid trip to Disney for my DD!!! Update!!!! pg. 2

My oldest DD's cheerleading team just won a National competition last weekend and won an all expense paid trip to compete in the World Cheerleading competition at Disney's Wide World of Sports complex next weekend!!! It is quite exciting!!! All hotels on property are booked solid and her teams and others are staying at All Star Sports (not to fret all you cheerleader haters.............this is probably the MOST SERIOUS cheering competiton ever and they won't be obnoxious until it is over!!! Sunday night!! then they leave Monday!!). I was able to get a room for Sat and Sun night at Sports but not for Thurs and Fri. UGH!! She has to stay with her team. I am holding out hopes that a room will open for those nights, if not, I will have to venture off property. DVC does not have availablity for the timeframe either!! Wish me luck.................and her team!!!

My DD Sarah and I just watched Cheerleader Nation on VH-1 this afternoon. I marvel at the athleticism required to do what your daughter does.

It is going to be strange staying at All Star Sports instead of OKW 2 BR that we are accustomed too but it will be soooooooooo exciting!!! This competition should be televised sometime in June!!!

Congrats. I did that when I was 17, but my parents were lucky enough to stay for the entire next week.

Don't worry about he noise... most of the time your daughter will be too exhausted!

thanks Cheryl. I did check the Swan/Dolphin. Most people in MA are on spring break that week making it difficult for rooms. The company hosting the competition has had the rooms blocked for a year. I am hoping they have some left over and release them soon. I will keep trying. Expedia.com did list alot of availabilty off site. (but I am a Disney snob!! LOL!!)

That is super, Rosemary!!!! How neat for your daughter and team. I am always amazed at how booked WDW can be. Though as time gets closer, I know rooms open up. I bet you will be there all nights. You will have to let us know when she will be on TV.

That is the best news for my friend and her daughter...good for you both. When I was there in March, the cheerleaders were out in full force. I was rather surprised to see them in all their make up and glitter but they looked like they were having fun and they were very behaved, I thought.. Of course, this is from an ex-cheerleading coach and mother of two cheerleaders.

Can you guarantee they won't be obnoxious. I know when we were there at the same time as the cheerleaders they were really obnoxious. Also many of them were using the companion restrooms as private makeup and changing centers. Did not leave ohter guests particularly enamored with cheerleaders.

No, I can not say they all won't be obnoxious!! I am saying that this is quite a serious competition (compare to Pop Warner and others). These girls are being sponsored by companies that spend between 25 K and 100K to sponsor teams!!!

I have given DD a major lecture on obnoxious behavior and her coaches have given the team the same lecture. She knows I will absolutely kill her if she acts out!!! Her coaches too....I can't speak for other teams, but I do believe her team will be very well behaved!!! This is a huge accomplishment for them and they have worked tooo hard to mess it up by screwing around!!

DD won't be obnoxious Sunday night as we are leaving bright and early Monday morning!!!

Congratulations for yor DD!! Did you say this is a National team and if so when they compete next weekend will they be competing as the US team or does there team go by another name. What is the date of the competition because I know they usually show these competions on the cable channels and I love to watch the Cheerleading and dance team competions. All the best to your DD and her team.

Thanks for the link to the Dolphin reservations. I think I am going to hold out and see if the *** becomes available. At least I will be at the same hotel as my Dd for the last 2 nights. She will be with me on the first night and her team on the 2-4 night. So it will only really be one night with her team!! and they have bedchecks and curfew!!!

The competition is next Sat and Sun (April 22-23) and held at the Milk House at WWoS. Most teams (90%) are from the US and the other 10% make up the rest. The teams going are the Best of the Best!! They are truly amazing (not saying this becuase DD is going but some of those Texas teams!! Wowzer!!!).
