hello all: i am trying to get our meals budget together and am wondering if the prices on the all ears menus include taxes? if they don't what is the tax rate used in disney world?

thanks again! :goodvibes

I believe tax is 6.5%.

On Disney World's official website, most of the restaurants have an updated menu and they include prices, before adding tax. These are for a la carte restaurants though, not all you can eat places or character dining. I called Disney Dining recently for prices of our character meals and they gave me the prices for my exact dates (mid-July so seasonal surcharge is in effect), including tax. They specified tax is included in the price they quoted me but not gratuity (except at CRT of course, where both tax and gratuity are included). There are, however, some restaurants whose menus are not on the official site (San Angel, Chefs de France are a couple I remember).

I look at the menus on the official WDW site like this...at the top of almost every single one (or at some point on the menu), they have the non-alcoholic specialty beverage listed with choice of either Tinkerbell or Buzz Lightyear (with some kind of lemonade I think). The ones that say Buzz Lightyear are updated. If there are any that still say Tinkerbell or Lightning McQueen, those are not as recent.

thanks for the responses. i didn't even realize they had the menus here too (or on disney's site for that matter) but all seem to have the same prices, but none make reference to the sales tax.

we are eating mostly counter service with just three sit down meals (sci-fi dine in, crystal palace & whispering canyon cafe). would it be safe to assume that there is no tax on the counter service meals, but add it for the sit downs? if not, i will just add tax to all to be safe. just trying to see where i can squeeze some pennies (dollars) out!

thanks again! :goodvibes

It's probably safest to assume none of the prices include tax.

WDW is in two different counties with two different tax rates. I know room taxes are less at POP but I can't remember any other details.

Also remember that Disney has different prices during holiday times and peak times. Depending on when you are going, you may run into higher prices. I have found that all ears prices aren't always accurate. I would double check the Disney website.

I am pretty sure the food prices on All Ears do not include tax, and there is definitely tax to be paid in WDW on both TS and CS. It's 6.5% in most of WDW, but it is 7% at the All Stars.

I was in your positions last trip and I can tell you that the sales tax is NOT included in the prices. You must add it in.

Do you happen to know those dates for 2010?

don't forget to budget for gratuities for TS:)

we are going nov 7 - 13 so i don't think there will be any holiday surcharges (if someone knows differently, PLEASE let me know). i will add on the taxes to the menu prices for my budget, because an extra 7% on top of our dining costs as this point would be too much not to consider.

oh, and thanks for the reminder about tips at ts places. i always tip 20% unless the service is deliberately bad ;)
