All Disney Stores Closing???

I'm thankful for a merchandise change. The stuff that currently sits on the shelves of our closest Disney Store is junk. I don't even think I would buy it if I had a little girl who loved princesses. It's horribly overpriced and the quality is bad.

Bring on the adult clothing, housewares, books and I'll be there.:D

Our store here in central Ma has been having the same huge sales. I just got 9 character tee shirts for $40!! My dd will be wearing them to WDW this August and won't be so anxious to get them there for a change! I was also told they were making way for more adult stuff. This would be a most pleasant change. More housewares would be good too!!

All of you guests from southeastern MA need to visit the store at the Galleria in Tauton. We are a great store and have some of the new fall merchandise out.

The Emerald Square Disney Store is definitely not closing. I know several people that work there.

The Taunton and Braintree TDS are both open as well.
They are all pretty empty because they are trying to clear out inventory to make way for the new stuff

DH read on the boards somewhere that most of the Disney stores are getting ready to undergo drastic remodeling, including removal of some of those large characters, tv screens, etc.... We were speculating wether or not Disney would sell those, but figured they wouldn't due to copyright issues, etc... I'm not sure where he read that, be he surfs the boards a lot!

There are actually a bunch of these up on ebay right now being auctioned by Disney - here are some links:

Peter Pan
Mickey

I was in the Braintree, MA store yesterday and the CM was telling the customer in front of me that they are not closing. They had backpacks and fall/winter pajamas out. One CM was walking back and forth with shelves and moving things around. I was glad to hear they are not closing.

We were in the N Attleboro store tonight and noticed that while they still had alot of the sale junk out, there did appear to be some new kids fall clothes, but not much else. One other thing we noticed was the condition of the store. Merchandise all over the floor, empty shelves, lots of dust bunnies.

I really hope they get it together soon and make it like the TDS of old. It was kind of depressing to see it looking like that.

I was by the store in the Florida Mall in Orlando yesterday and lots of bare shelves and big sale. Should have asked what the scoop was.

i did heard that the disney stores were closing because they didn't bring in any money, But this past year, the disney store by me closed for a little while because they were remodeling. The did had a huge summer sale but did have school stuff out.

I ws in the Cherry Hill NJ store yesterday. For almost a month even more) the store has been 50-75% off . There are still some items that are 5075 but they are dwindling, and are pretty picked over.

THE ADULT MERCHNDISE ARRIVED! Yes, it ws only Tshirts, but it was something.

We put out the new Adult Ts, fleece and jumbo nightshirts yesterday in the Syracuse Carousel Center TDS - Yahoo!! An entire area - not just one fixture - devoted to adults!!

We also have the new Princess costumes including a beautiful off-white cape meant to go with any of the Princess costumes. It's priced much better this year than last year's red Belle cape...anyone remember that one? It's gorgeous and comes in three different sizes!!

Well, I got to the store early 10 am ish.. and they were moving stuff around. I just saw the Tshirts hanging up , and that was it. There was some activity in the store, so maybe its all up now.

It used to be that TDS had sales only 4 times a year and when we did we would sell the majority and start over with the new stuff. We would even ship the product back to homebase to make room for more goodies. Now we are selling everything and bringing out all the new lines. We are really excited to see the new product and have been promised more adult and infant clothing and such by the fall. Keep your fingers crossed that this new product is what takes us back to the top of the specialty market!!

I certainly hope that is true! I haven't found much to buy at TDS the past few years. I am sure that if they again handle nice adult things like leather jackets etc. I would be enticed to come back!

I went to the Providence Place Mall today - I am still dissapointed that they closed the store there.

It's tough to keep every thing as neat and tidy as we used to when there are only 2 people closing, and one of them needs to count all of the registers. We are only there for 1/2 hour after the mall closes, so we do the best that we can. :D

Our store got in the Adult t-shirts, sweatshirts and night shirts too. They are out on fixtures. We were also told that we would be getting infants back in for Q1 (coming soon). We have some back-to-school stuff, which includes some great clothes (hooded jackets & pants that are NOT 100% cotton & have some lycra in them) for the kids (boys & girls). Different kinds of backpacks -regular, rolling, and plush!

As far as the sale of the chain, I can only give you my own thoughts/opinion on what I have heard in the news etc. I am under the impression that the company would like to make the chain more profitable, regardless of whether they sell them or not (they may keep a smaller number of stores). If they don't want to keep them or don't find a buyer, they just might close the entire chain - who knows? I guess we'll all find out when it happens.

come on in to the disney Store and check out the new stuff! The new Cinderella costume we got is beautiful! so is the cape that someone perviously mentioned. Check it out!

I asked the manager at a TDS yesterday and she told me that if they dont find a buyer from all the stores they will close them :(

She did say they were closing 70 stores by November.

DH and I have been disappointed in the selection at TDS for a while...his boys are 11. Nothing for adults, nothing for "big" boys, nothing for the house, etc. Seems like they were only catering to little princesses. Will be nice to see them go back to they way it used to be, if they do. Better than closing!
