Nemo that was well put. Thanks for sending it.

"The people who won should be happy with their pins, because they are not giving out those, and they will be rare!"

Why am i asked what is that pin? A hundred times a day.
Yes the "pin" is so rare, no one knows what it is, or what it means.
Top ten high score?

"some other teams worked really hard and did not receive them, so there are many people who deserve the chairs, besides the people who won in the competition."

Yes I am not pleased about that either.

"Also, the people who won had their team names posted on the main page of VMK to let everyone know who shined in the competition, isn't that enough"

I wouldnt know; my name certainly is not there, neither is
PrincessConfused nor CaptianNemo's, or the rest of my team mates nor any of the winners names for that matter. If it was? Yes, that might be enough.
And I certainly would not get asked 1000 times a day where did you get this room and chair.

"Why are you surprised the chair is coming out??? did you really think you would be the only VMKer's with them???"

Would it certainly would have been nice, if it lasted more than a week.

"but it gives everyone a fair chance to get a few, especially the guests"

Fair chance? Forgive me if i am wrong but all they had to do was compete.

So let me ask this question:

For those lucky inferno owners out there. Did you get it at a ride-a-thon?
How many hours have you stood in line to get it?
Or what did you sacrifice in trade for it?

How would you feel if you walked into the emporium tomorrow morning and you looked under specials and there it was!

Price: 25 credits.

But, of course, then that wouldn't be fair to every one else, now would it?
Would it? Then every one that deserves inferno could have one.

So now we got this super rare 'top ten hi score' pin,
certainly worth more and rarer than the inferno pin.

Any one out there who has inferno want to trade for my top 10 pin?
I will even add the ever-so-rare everest chair. I guess if i dont have to spend a singe credit and not have to work for a month straight for it this time, i maybe able to add a dozen or so everest chairs to my offer.

Any takers? Top ten high score pin and everest chair for inferno?

I thought not.

Besides, we cant even take the pin off if we wanted to,
how does that grab you folks?

Does no one question how Disney can endorse such a thing?
Wasn't it Walt that said "it all started with a mouse"?
Well all i have to say is, it also ended with a mouse.
Im done with being a lab rat.

How about this? Since you seem to think your Top Ten pin is such a pain Kings, I will trade you for the crappy Everest 3/5 pin all of us other people got for competing in a contest where the winners won under themes such as "Best Use of Color" and "Theme"(hello? wasnt theme supposed to be Everest?). As for this statement:

"Fair chance? Forgive me if i am wrong but all they had to do was compete."

That really irks me. We did compete and put in a lot of time and effort. I hardly call judging based on subjects no one was ever informed about a "fair chance". You only think you got a fair chance becasue you won the Grand Prize. How would you feel if you were on a team that recreated the ride down to the letter, both with a regular Yeti and a shadow Yeti, complete with a gift shop and all, only to lose to teams that won for best color, or most creative use of track yet had a room of all river in their ride? Doesnt sound like a fair chance to me, or all the other hundreds of people on teams that lost due to these judging catagories. I cant even believe you are complaining because YOU WON. We all got called "sour grapes" and "sore losers" over on the thread entitled "Would have been nice to know BEFORE the competition" but it seems like the real "sour grapes" are all over here complaining that their chairs will now be available to everyone. Right, not fair. We spent just as many credits and just as much time as you people did, but your right. It is not fair that we now get a chance to get ONE if your 3 prizes King. The only people that should be complaining here are the runners up that only got the chair. Yet I have a hard time feeling bad for them either since they won under the above mentioned catagories of ridiculousness. The only point I disagree with as far as the chairs go is the fact that EVERYONE will now be able to get it, not just ride competitors. Why didnt they just give all the ride competitors the chairs instead of the pins in the first place and then give out something else for the ride a thon like the everest 3/5 pin? Oh I know why. Because NOBODY WOULD RIDE BECAUSE NOBODY WANTS A STUPID PIN!!

All the rides were great and they all deserved much more than they got, including the Grand Prize Team. Inferno or extra credits added in there would have been a nice touch esp since it costs VMK NOTHING to give this stuff out. They are stingy and have once again proven their lack of concern for the feelings of their players- big shock. NOT! Yet, they never said the prizes would be anything great, and all of us entered with delusions of grandure. We forgot one thing though-we are dealing with VMK-what are we stupid? We should have known the prizes would be as worthless as our time and credits, after all, they say history repeats itself right? RIGHT!

Well i was supposed to get the everest 3/5 pin too but did not.
They gave us a pin that can't be traded. So i am afraid i must pass on your offer.

"(hello? wasnt theme supposed to be Everest?)"
Yes i was under the same impression.

I think you have missunderstood me. What I had meant was everyone had the fair chance to enter the event. A fair chance to compete.

Dis-Wiz:says:
"some other teams worked really hard and did not receive them, so there are many people who deserve the chairs, besides the people who won in the competition."

And I replied:Yes I am not pleased about that either.
Again i think i was missundersood.
Also i neglected to mention it wasn't some other teams worked really hard, all the teams worked hard not just some.

I agree with you, i know down to the very last credit and minute how much it cost you and the other teams to participate in this event.
Every one in the event should have gotten better than what they have recieved. Add up time lost, credits lost for each individual member that participated in this event. The magnitude of that total is staggering!

I think you may have just hit the nail on the head.
"give out something else for the ride a thon like the everest 3/5 pin?"
Bravo! Carrieberry, take a bow.

I thought the same thing when I saw the chair was being offered as a prize.

Only reasoning I can think is they are trying to make it available for all of those that were disqualified for unknown reasons and the fact that so many kids (and adults) didn't seem to understand the rules. Maybe this is a peace offering for them.

Think of all of VMK's other releases....

Sub pin, super rare until staff started giving it out
Inferno, same thing as above
Space Suit, super rare until game came out
all the Beta and such that been rereleased.

Everytime a few manage to get something valuable, VMK releases it to the masses.

Well, very soon many of us will be able to say,

"We won second prize in the Everest event, and all we won was this lousy
VMK tshirt..." (Well, and that pin, basically.)

It was so prophetic of Jellyrolls to put that tshirt comment in her signature
during the event!

It was Bezoar who put that comment in his signature about Team Boogies ride. It was something along the lines of "I climed to the top of Boogie Mountain and all I got was this t-shirt."

I'm not so upset that they are releasing the chair like they are- as I am that it is occurring so soon...

When I entered the contest- I never saw a promised prize at all- and so really didn't expect anything from VMK. As a matter of fact when everyone was discussing what they thought the prize was I kept saying it was a Yeti NPC Pin and that we had already won because I had one in my inventory...

When we got the prizes - I was happy to get the new chair- (sure I would have loved an inferno and that room too but not really upset about it all)- My dd was extremely upset that I got the chair and wouldn't hand it over to her lol (I spoil her in this game way too much)

I did tell her at the time- that eventually it would be more available as a quest or something and she would get to get her own chair then- not to worry about it.

When I said that I had no idea it would be the next week lol-

I had no plans to trade my chair- so really not a big deal to me that its "value" was dimished with the announcement- but I do know for some that was the first really rare thing they had their hands on- and so suddenly it was not rare at all.

There were a few who made early trades- but most were holding on to them at least for a few days and then got the announcement of the ride-a-thon... so it was almost worse than the Yeti 3/5 pin being the consolation prize-

I mean in last ride-a-thons I think I managed to get many many items in those- they could easily have had the ride-a-thon set up where maybe every 25th or 50th rider would get the everest chair and the rest would maybe get a ride turn (left or right) - everyone still gets something good out of it and a few lucky riders get something extra- The chair wouldn't be as rare but it also would be worth more than a few crates, kellogg furniture or pink doors...

I do understand the need to have things for the new players and kids to get too- but maybe some of the instant gratification needs to calm down a bit- and some expectations for things like ride prizes wouldn't be complained about-

Like I said- I'm glad I will be able to get some chairs for dd (shoot she can get her own lol) and will get a few more for myself- not too many though- those suckers are big lol- I hadn't planned to trade mine- so value was really always zero for me anyway... you know the only time anything has a value is when it is in trade- so for most who will never get rid of their infernos they really aren't worth any more than any other magic they are keeping forever lol

I guess it is all perspective- you have to look at things from many sides- and yes I did win the chair ahead of time- and was happy for it- but I was happier to have spent time with my team- and have said to them many times- there is NO WAY VMK could find a prize to match the friendships I got.

My team couldnt even get into the darn contest but we are grateful we got to meet and scramble to get things ready 'just in case' we were allowed back in....

I do agree the timing of the chair a thon was tacky. And that chair is so cool it deserves to be rare.... Like VM stated, maybe every 50th person for the ride a thon or a AK quest.....

But that room... I must get my mits on that room! Chair is awesome, room is over the top fab!

Ah, that was it. I still think it was very funny. :)

I'm curious to find out one thing:

Would any of you have felt better if VMK released the chair in the stores
for 500 credits or so rather than giving it away free in a ride a thon?

I think I would have.

I have to agree with this one... would much rather it be sold than in the ride-a-thon

And better yet- a surprise for sale thing- for the weekend next weekend all weekend- at least then the few who did want to trade their chairs would have had this week to trade them-

and then after the weekend they probably would still be somewhat unique- but well they didn't ask us lol

Anyway- like I mentioned dd will get her chairs now and be happy and all those people who didn't win and complained about it can get a bunch of chairs and pretend that was their prize

Hmm this actually poses an interesting question. How do we know that every rider WILL get the chair? I ran into VMK_Conga the other day and asked how the ride a thon would work and he said it was a "secret surprise". Now knowing what we know about VMK and prizes, how do we even know we will get a chair every time we ride? Maybe it will be only the 50th ride or something along those lines. Both the chair and the t-shirt both say "win" so maybe not every person that rides will get it. Are we jumping to conclusions about this since every person that rode the last one got rugs and ice? Should be an interesting ride a thon.

This thread is too funny. Not the chair concerns. Oh no. I feel your pain, my babies. I really do. Much love, much love. Here's your "Vote for Ricks" button.

But the first page of the thread reminded me so much of a scene from the cult-classic Pee Wee's Big Adventure (1985).

Here is my re-imagining of that scene...

BriarLori: I say we kill VMK!
DIS Gang: [shouts] Yeah!
x13igDudex12: I say we hang VMK, then we kill VMK!
DIS Gang: [shouts] Yeah!
PurpleFreak: I say we stomp VMK, then we tattoo VMK, then we hang VMK, THEN we kill VMK!
DIS Gang: [shouts] Yeah!
Captain_Brain: [in falsetto, desperately throwing his voice] I say we let VMK go!
DIS Gang: [shouts] No!

Heart ya, mean it. :thumbsup2

:worship: As always, after I read your posts I have to bow to the superiority of your wit and intellect. :lmao:

This thread is like a scab I return to pick at over and over again. I have tried to avoid it because I feel an overwhelming urge to post my opinion and I don't think many will like it. You, sir, have given me the courage to post my opinion.

While I understand the frustration and bitter dissapointment that has followed this event(I was a contestant of Team Boogies and didn't even receive the 3/5 pin!) I cannot understand the attitude of denying other players the opportunity to acquire something very cool.

I understand that you all put a lot of hard work and energy into your rides. I missed seeing a lot of my friends for a whole month! But are you really saying that your time is worth keeping your friends from being able to get this chair too?

Why isn't it enough to get the recognition that you had the best ride? Why has this game become such a quest for items instead of a quest for good friends and a good time? Before VMK decided to make Inferno rare and Beta items rare, the game seemed nicer. People were less concerned with having stuff and more concerned with giving stuff.

Maybe you were hoping to trade for a "rarer" item? IMO writing a letter encouraging VMK to make all items more available is more worthwhile than trying to make some items more difficult to get. Let's encourage VMK to be less stingy by being less stingy ourselves.

- end of rant-

note: I finally received my pin, woot...

I too have not been about to stay away from this thread and have wanted to express my opnion. I feel no one could have said it better than red!

Lady

I think it's quite fair, the winners got more then this chair. They all got pins, some got rooms as well so this chair for everyone is definentally first on my list of the day in VMK.

Why You All Mad? You Guys Did Know That You Can get the code from riding expadition everest. right? ROFL

Doing the Ride Competition. Instead, I played Haunted Mansion and was able to save up enough for almost three Bat Magic, while others spent all of their credits doing the Ride Competition.

Better yet, after I secured two Bat Magic pins, I started the Everest ride late. I have gotten most of the stuff free.

Hippo Rug (Used the Quest ones.)
Ice Cube Chair (Ride-A-Thon)
Everest Straight Pieces (Ride-A-Thon)
Snow Carpet (Ride-A-Thon)

And the list goes on... but my point is I am glad that they are doing this because this is just more free stuff I can get to design my ride with! WOOT!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Funny for all those people who wasted their precious time to get a free chair that guests will have and a pin that has very low sellback value, for those who would even consider that idea..

What you're accurately describing is virtual McCarthyism.

To all who come to this happy place, I would recommend the film High Noon (1952).

The critics in the film decry: "If you're honest, you're poor your whole life and in the end you wind up dying all alone on some dirty street. For what? For nothing. For a tin star."....

The hero succinctly asserts: "I've got to, that's the whole thing."

Ricks (who wears a tin star) :cool2:

P.S.: Hurray! Chairs!
