All Day Ride-A-Thon....prize why?

Wow they weren't kidding when they said they were going to extend Everest Month for two weeks... because that is just downright COLD.

Next week, I expect to see the Safari Room for sale. Ha ha.

I mean, we all knew that the competition prizes will be released soon to the public, but sheesh... they could at least wait a little while. At least let the winners ENJOY winning! It's been less than a week!

well i must say that this has been coming for a while ppl yes indeed it stinks that you feel as though you were cheated but remember all the posts on here and other sites asaying how unfair it was that new players could not get the rare stuff, and all the letters im sure ppl whining about there lack of trading talent sent in, well looks as though they got there way huh !!! some people must think of the ramafications of there actions before just going out and doing it!!! so yes write you letters show your disgust but will it get you any where probably not srry to say it but i think not . so now that your hard earned chair that im sure like many others you spent hours and hours on getting will be useless basically, you can go out and thank all those doo gooders in vmk for writting there letter campaignes saying how unfair it is to those who cant get the old furniture and costumes and now a silly chair, good work ppl you make vmk proud NOT!!!!

I am so sorry your prize is being depleted of value by this ride a thon.... The chairs are really cool and I am glad to be able to get some, but I was hoping that the chair would be something tied in with riding Everest in the park.... that way others had a chance to get it, but it would still be rare enough to hold value.

ok, nobody here has a right to get mad! it is a virtual chair and you have to remember anything can happen in vmk. it is the same of you getting inferno (ME) and then even more people are getting it. i am not getting mad and yelling at vmk for it. it is JUST a game. and you should be proud of the pin you got. that is the REAL prize, because it shows that you won and should be proud. the chair is a chair and was already said be to able to get another way! so do not get mad that it is coming out because there have been many fair warning of this happening. IDK why you are DISin' VMK but if you have a problem why don't you keep it to yourself instead or telling the entire VMK.

What if you were staff or testers and saw this thread and post about vmk being stupid for doing this and your other RANTS you have? i would feel horrible if i saw this and just to let you know many of them do read the boards and know what your saying about them or about vmk. i think we should all just stop and close this thread because it is pretty much an insult to Staff, Testers, And VMK In General.

ANOTHER THING:

Why are you surprised the chair is coming out??? did you really think you would be the only VMKer's with them??? you have to think about those questions first. it is the same as beta coming back. am i worried that the only piece of beta i have may come back??? -- NO! i am just proud to have it until it does come. you should aprreciate the things you have for the moment...

Although it is kinda of a downer to all the everest teams that won, it was bound to happen anyway. They prefer equality in VMK, so it's no wonder they would give out prizes that anyone could get..

Er... I knew it would come out. But couldn't they have made it a prize or at least a expensive buyable item. Not one that everyone could have at least 20 of them for free. That would make more sense. But I choose not to let anything bother me again about VMK I had my major rant time (most did it for the Halloween event I am a little slow) Except banning of kids the are truly innocent and have there parents try and contact VMK to get no where. To me that is and will always be my pet peeve. I hate to see kids hurt that way and families as weel

Has anyone written to VMK about this? I sat down for an hour yesterday and wrote a very well-written letter to VMK (in my opinion!) on behalf of my team, and then when I sent it, I got a message about error - technical problems. GR!! There was no way to go back and retrieve my letter. Not sure I'm up to writing another one again. Don't think I could write it as well as that first one....

Winner or not, you have to realize that giving out a "prize" and then a few days later announce that this so-called prize is now going to be given out to everyone in VMK is a CHEAP shot! I don't care if it's a virtual game or not!! I feel like I've been slapped in the face for all the hard work and time my team put into our ride and then sitting in base camp all weekend long. Not a very good way to award the participants in an official VMK competition. If they want ppl to participate in future events, I think they ought to show a little more respect to those people.

I am not complaining. After all I did win Grand prize?
I do not feel sorry for myself, I feel sorry for every single person that was in this event. Every single one of them. They gave up so much. For so little.

I dont really think many, know just what this event has cost each member indivilually that participated, whether they won or lost.

I am sorry to have to inform you of this but your "last statement" smacks of censorship in my mind.

By your own admission, you are entitiled to your opinion, while we are not allowed that right? If i am not mistaken, doesn't it say something about the right to free speech in the United States Constitution?

I am really excited about the chairs coming out. The people who won should be happy with their pins, because they are not giving out those, and they will be rare! I understand that your teams worked hard to win those chairs and pins, but some other teams worked really hard and did not receive them, so there are many people who deserve the chairs, besides the people who won in the competition.

Also, the people who won had their team names posted on the main page of VMK to let everyone know who shined in the competition, isn't that enough?

I've gotten that too, in the past. GR!! Now I write my email in a word doc file first, save it, then cut and paste it in the VMK window. That way I have a copy to go back to when VMK screws up again.

i was upset, i have to say, but i knew they were going to do something like this, either going to sell the chair or giving at prizes.

BUT... Then i thought what a great time i had with the girls and be planning this out, building and sitting with them for hours at base camp. It was a blast.

thats what vmk staff want you to do have fun and make friends( well only in vmk basis), at least i got some unstead of nothing and before the event they didn't even say they were giving out stuff.

i think if they are going to release it some other way it should be sold for at least 5000 credits ( even though i didnt win 1 and really want 1 ) i just think its more fair for everyone

plz dont write letters to VMK about it, the winners got top ten pins and safari rooms ( well, maybe not all winners got the room) but I really want that chair because its cool and everyone likes it. Im very srry that VMK did that, and it probably wasn't a smart thing to do but it gives everyone a fair chance to get a few, especially the guests

Good Morning everyone,

I came across this forum this morning and I happened to see a topic on the fairness for the lack of a better discription of the Ride-A-Thon next week.

I was on Ladyscarletts team and we won the Grand prize. No need to thank me it was a team effort (Thanks Team!) and we happened to get picked. I think every team who entered are winners!!
Over the following days I read the newsletter in vmk about this new ride-a-thingy next week. Great idea but... why is the prize the everest chair!?!

So, I wrote VMK a letter from a players point of view..

It goes something like this..

Dear VMK,
As some of you Vmk'ers know I was a winning member for the Grand prize. I do not want to sound like a sour winner, but let me begin by saying to VMK Thank you for recognizing our hard work, the hard work of all the other winning teams and Last but not least all the other TEAMS!! who spent Hours and hours and credits and more credits to play this game.
As for the recognition of the win.. well it was kinda like a whisper. What alot of people were expecting is a Ty Pennington "like" announcement around VMK and the newsletter shouting out all the results. "Bus Driver move that bus we have a winner in VMK!!" In fairness I think everyone who placed in each catagory should have been acknowledged with at least their name. A newsletter is only typed on a pc.. anyway so... you know vmk.. type a little more!
Now getting back to the winnings I was dissapointed in reading over the past few days on your web site that the Everest chair will be passed out next weekend. Was this not the Grand prize for the runners up!? Now a little over a week later this is passed out for a free in a ride-a-thon?! That is not fair to all of us players whe spent hunderds of thousands in credits building a ride promoting the new ride for you. I read on a fan site yesterday someone wanted to trade their winning chair in hope of getting something good like the inferno pin. Guess what was offered to him?!.. 50 grey crates!! You might laugh but we were hoping to use this item as leverage to get that pin. Now, it's worthless!
When we look at the prizes like the Grand prize compaired to Runners up was a room. Grand prize compaired to First place was a chair. There was nothing that stood out and said "Hey man your team rocked! you'll get.. this item." ya know what?..we kinda all got the same prize.
VMK went to all ends to push the new ride but the prize for the game was kinda small. From what I gather is that what players wanted to see as a prize was a Magic pin. Yes, the burning hot one! Plus the Grand prize winners never recieved the rare yeti paw pin. I was written in the newsletter that all judged players will recieve it.
I have been to the Animal Kingdom may times watching the building progress of the Everest ride. So, when VMK had a contest based on building this. My family freaked! We were so excited!! Now we could be "mini VMK imaginears" and build our ride and get a prize!! Yahoo!!!..
Soon that yahoo was just an fading echo on the summit of Everest. All of our hard work of playing games on VMK to get credits enough to build our ride. There was hundreds of thousands of credits spent on our final ride for you people to judge. And now 1/3 of our winnings is equal to 50 grey crates.

In conclusion I guess i'll have to stand in line in a host room and pray that I won't get disconnected to try and get the rare inferno pin. I guess the only challange in this feat is not putting many hours into a judged ride but gambling on weither or not I'll stay connected to be given the pin.
