Heading to Movie resort at the end of September into October. I see a lot of threads on other resorts but tought to find them specifically about All Star adn in my case All Star Movies.

Just looking for info from the ME schedule to where All Star is on bus route to what ever. Add to this however you like. The more info the better!

The buses from ASmo to the major parks will pick you up as the last stop on the Values Resort (ASsp, ASmu, ASmo) route. Which means you get on last and off first; then for return trips, on first and off last. Not a big deal that we've found anyway; and we always go in the busy summer. You may have to stand until after ASmu unloads at night on the "after-the-parks-close" bus, but then you'll be able to find a seat from there to your resort.
Usually the ASmo gets it's own bus for the trips to the parks in the morning. They haven't driven a bus up to us and had it almost packed from the other 2 that I can ever remember.
If you are DTD or the TTC, look for the Values Resort buses. the message board will play all three and then the order above is how you are dropped off. We stay in the Mighty Ducks area of ASmo, so it's closer for us to get off at ASmu and then walk over. Have a wonderful time. We're an Allstar Family too. :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

I'D like to join the thread...

Call me set in my ways, but I love the All-star resorts. They feel like home and I know what to expect as to the bus service and the distance to and from each park.

We know how to get around and we love everything about the all stars. We have always been satisfied with the food courts, pools and mouse keeping.

Before booking for July, wanted to give Pop a try but why mess it up? Staying at ASMu and can't wait.

On the last day at Disney our plan leaves at 3 so we have to be back at ASMo by noon to catch the ME. Will I be able to check out AK in the morning and be back at the resort by noon?? It wil be my wife, two boys (4 & 6) and I. Can we do it or is it pushing it a little?

If that day is not a morning EMH at the AK you will only have about 2 hours at the park. You certainly can do this but you will have to limit what you do and be aware of your time.

We loved ASMo, the rooms were adequate for the time you actually spend in them, the CM's we encountered were all great and our Mousekeeper was a Saint for picking up after us. We were always running so late in the morning things got a mess, but she made the beds even when we accidently left our heavy luggage on it after ME finally delivered it in the morning after we arrived. The only bad thing for us was the food we encountered at dinner time was yuck, breakfast was very good though! We had a room in the Mighty Ducks section, I will have to remember the tip of walking to ASMu for next time. We will return although I do want to try the POP, my DD4 just loves the looks of that Giant Big Wheel Ride On Toy they have there.

I missed the tip. What is it about walking to ASMu?

Getting off at ASMu instead of ASMo if you are in the Mighty Ducks section because its closer to your room than the ASMo bus stop!! We stayed at ASMo and never knew this till I read this post. We will be trying that next time.

Any recent travelers to All Star Movies?
Anything to be on the look out for both good and bad? 110 days to go adn getting anxious!!

We are going 8/8 - 8/12 for our first trip to WDW. Staying at All Star Sports. What can we expect for ride times from the airport? How about to the parks? We'll be using the Magic Express...

TIA!

hojo and hipcheck: the All Stars are about 60 minutes from either airport. We've done from both Sanford and MCO.
Park buses run consistently throughout the day and we've never waited more than 10 minutes for one.

We love the food court for breakfast and a sometimes late night treat after the parks close. the kids can charge anything on their room cards, so when they were little, this was a good educator for them. The room card works in the gift shop too, so you don't always have to tag along with them. Food is simple but excellent. Choices that kids-teens-and moms and dads are familiar with. Lots of fresh fruit and healthy choices. And the ice cream station is yummy :smooth: I usually get a scoop of coffee ice cream in a waffle cone to enjoy.
There are laundry facilities so be sure and bring some soap/dryer sheets as the small ones sold are very expensive.
Enjoy!! :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

For afternoon breaks, how long does it take to get from ASMo back to MK, Epcot or MGM, need to plan accordingly to make it back for 3:30 AR's.

I'd like to know the same thing Jaycee's Mom. I'm not sure whether we will leave the parks for a break or not. We're too afraid that the buses will take too long getting there and back and don't want to lose valuable park time. :rotfl2:

This is a concern for me too since I think I'd be losing a lot of park time riding the bus to and from the resort and then would feel I couldn't "rest" there very long, so I'm building rest time into the days for my DS8 with quiet breaks at Tom Sawyer Island or on the monorail, or playtime at AK's Boneyard, MGM's playground (Honey I Shrunk the Kids) and the Viking playground at Epcot's Norway.

I'm going in December so finding an air-conditioned resting place probably won't be a concern, but I've heard that lots of folks rest at some of the quieter theatre attractions (Hall of Presidents, etc.)

I think the mid-afternoon break thing works better for people staying at the deluxe resorts.

We stayed at ASMo at the beginning of May and came back to the room just about every day for a break. If you can get up in time to be at the parks when they open you can usually do so much in that first hour or 2 that a 2-3 hour break around noon is not a problem. If you miss that first hour of park time the lines get too long to pack as much in and you should definitley use a touring plan. Our first day at MK was the day that the Happiest celebration started and was busy, but we were in Fantasyland first thing and in that first hour rode everthing there with no waits.

Thanks for the tip Yellow. We get to the parks about 45 minutes before they open to stand in line(like we won't do enough of that in the park :rotfl: ) so that we can get over to FantasyLand or Frontierland quickly. I love getting through areas quickly.

I think we will wind up staying in the parks the whole time, but taking lots of rest breaks and relaxing rides like COP and the Tiki Room at MK and taking in the show at the America pavilion. A little time off of our feet and some cool air conditioning and we are raring to go again.

Has anyone here that has gone to ASmo latley also gotten the refillable mugs?? I heard at first that it was only good for soda, coffee and water. I just heard that if beverages come out of a despenser or a spigot then they are ok too. A thread noted that this would include milk, chocolate milke and aplpe juice.

Can anyone who has gone recently verify this? thanks alot!!

We have stayed at ASMo twice, ASSp twice and ASMu once. We love the value resorts! ( POP is our prefered resort now)

Allow 45 of travel time to get from the parks to the resorts. Most likely it will not take you that long, and it has rarely happend to us. This allows time if you have just missed the bus or if they stop somewhere else along the way, waterparks for instance. hojo the resorts are right next to AK so the trip back is faster than other parks. If you get there at opening you should be able to have a couple of hours to tour.

We always take an afternoon break. By getting to the parks before opening, or using morning emh, we are able to come back to the resort and swim, cool off, take a break. We usually head back to the park around 3-4 pm. That break really allows us to do more and feel better than if we stay in the parks all day.

Washers and dryers are $2/ load, and I believe soap and softener are $1. Bring your own. Dryers don't always dry in one cycle. The laundry is located at each of the pools so it is very convenient to do laundry while the kids swim.

If little ones need a life jacket you can check one at for the length of your stay from the arcade. You just need you room key.

If it rains and the pool is closed, only when it lightnings, check with the lifeguards for a scavenger hunt. There is a small prize if you finish it and bring it to the arcade.

Refillable mugs are great if you are taking afternoon breaks. Officially the refills are soda, cofe and tea. There is a spigot for milk that is to be used for coffee. Some have used it to fill their refillable mugs.

The food court had a toaster and a microwave. Bring microwave popcorn for a quick snack. I also pack the microwave kids meals, the ones in the small riound containers, and the kidslove heating them up during our break so they have more swim time and we aren't wasting time getting food. They don't get these at home so it is a treat as well.

Ask for extra towels that you can use at the pool since you need to bring your room towels for the pool. They have containers that you can leave them in at the pool so you don't have a million soggy towels until the maid comes.

Bring your own soap and shampoo/conditioner. These are in a dispenser in the shower and they aren't very good quality. Also bring a couple of clothes pins so you can use the retractable clothesline in the shower. They also work to keep the curtains closed since the curtains don't overlap like POPs.

Counter space is limited. We use a dollar store shoe bag and that clears up an amazing amount of space.

Irons and ironing boards are available from housekeeping. Hairdryers too I believe if you forget yours.

Enjoy all the little touches in the resort. We especially like the light in the ASMo rooms and the pictures in the lobby.

So bobcat when you say that "some have used it", does that mean you are allowed to the dispensers (milk, juice.. what-ever) with your refillable mug??

I don't beleve they will stop you from using it but the milk is supposed to be for coffee. Personally we just buy a half gallon of milk from the gift shop and keep that on ice in our room.
