We're thrilled to finally have found a week we were able to get reservations at Fort Wilderness to take our grandsons again, for their fourth year in a row. We're heading out for a March 2011 stay. :thumbsup2:goodvibes:banana:

It gets tougher to find time with our oldest grandson now in the first grade. How dare school get in the way of our Disney Magic!

Best Regards!

I hope you go fishing, :thumbsup2
Sounds like your grandson is at that perfect learn'n age.
Its not everyday a kid can tell his friends,"Grandpa took me to WDW and I caught a fish." :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Congratulations on getting the reservation!

March is one of my favorite times of the year at the Fort.

I also checked out your blog that you have linked in your signature. Good job on that!

You mention your son is stationed with the CG in Oregon. One of my sisters is married to a man in the Coast Guard. They were stationed in Coos Bay for a while. What a beautiful place! Is you son stationed near there?

If anyone is reading along, I suggest you check out the Old Snipe's blog. It is well written, has great photos, and is pretty interesting! :thumbsup2

TCD,

Thanks for the kind words about my blog, it's a way of containing our excitement as we work towards full time RV travels.

My son is stationed in Astoria, OR at the Aids to Navigation Team, they take care of small buoys, dayboards a lighthouses in the area.

I'm in the Coast Guard, too, almost 30 years. Time flies, hope to spend a lot more time at the Fort in the future. Hope to retire next summer and pass the torch.

I LOVE your writtings here on the DIS Board, you have an amazing knack of getting around and finding the most interesting things. Keep up the GREAT work! :thumbsup2

Best Regards!

He loves to fish, I bought him and his little brother fishing poles to take along.

Never too young to learn to fish, never too old to stop enjoying it! ;)

Best Regards!

30 years! Good for you!

Coos Bay is in southern Oregon, and Astoria is about as far north as you can go before you hit Washington. It sounds like your son does something along the lines of what my brother in law does, but I'm not really sure what he does. He doesn't talk much. I just know he works pretty much on the land.

I hope that you get to go full time in the RV. You will be able to see the grandchildren whenever you like then.

Send me a PM with your BIL's name, maybe I, or my son knows him. Small service.

I agree, OR is beautiful and the retirement plan is to visit all the grand kids and spoil them rotten. Thinking season passes to WDW and long stays at FW.

We just love FW, we've been in our RV's over the years about 7 times. That's not enough!

Best Regards!

GREAT blog! Your most recent entry made me tear up! The Journey is beautiful. We just gave up our Itasca Horizon after 10 years. Winnebago makes good coaches. Our dream is to do some full-time RVing in @ 20 more years doing long stretches at the Fort and the Nascar schedule one year. The latter may be a bit aggressive when they go from the east coast to the west coast in one week, but we'd like to try!

Enjoy your trip and your grandbabies!

Congratulations on finding a week to spend at the Fort! I enjoyed your blog, too.

My husband is also in the CG, and you are correct in that 'time flies', he will be hitting 20 in December.:)

Hoping you have an excellent time with your family!

Thank you for taking a look at our blog. Glad you enjoyed it. And it'll be nice to have your husband cross that 20 year finish line and start working for himself. Any idea if he'll stay in or get out and take a job at WDW driving the boats? ;)

Semper Paratus!

Thanks! We enjoy our Journey a lot and agree WB makes a good product. Hope to get to the Fort more often than once a year after we retire. I'd be happy to get a job following the horses on Main Street with the bucket and shovel. :lmao:

Cross country trips can be a blast, have done several over the years and loved every one (including one from the OR coast to VA near DC in 5 1/2 days...long story how that came about).

Best Regards!

Semper Paratus!

For the last two years he's been saying he is going to retire, and we have been planning for exactly that, but now he's leaning towards going Warrant.
(I am hinting that he should get his Captain's License just in case we end up in Orlando.;) Driving is better than having to constantly fix them, lol.)

I said that, too, then I realized by taking Warrant and staying longer I could more than double my pension. I took Warrant and have never regretted making that choice. After 20, it's all about the pension $$$.

Now we're sitting pretty good and will be able to travel in the RV because of it...hopefully more often to the Fort! ;)

Best Regards (from USCG TRACEN Yorktown)!

And now it gets even better! Disney has just released their Military ticket offer for 2011. :cool1:

We military folks sure do appreciate Disney's generous support! :thumbsup2

Best Regards!
