Alien Pizza Planet refurb!

I’m sitting at Pizza Planet right now. As you can see in the pics below, the outside is in the midst of a large-scale refurb. More importantly, one of the CMs here told me that it will close in mid May for an internal refurb, which is expected to take nine days. Make your pizza plans accordingly, folks ;-).

Also, I’ve never seen PP so sparsely patronized. I’m sitting out here by myself. Literally.

The Space Mountain entrance is also largely obscured.

Unless they plan to start selling better food, any refurb or retheme is just putting lipstick on a pig.

It's sad, because that is a prime dining location. Why does the food have to be garbage?

I hope they do something significantly impressive. My family actually enjoys Pizza Planet, but not because of it's awesome theming. I hope it looks more like an actual Pizza Planet when they're done and not...like it had a banner put over an old sign.

The walls must have gone up Tuesday or Wednesday of this past week. They were not there on Monday, but when we came back to Disneyland on Thursday they were up. Definitely noticed the difference, which was pretty disorienting at first. These things happen fast at Disney.

We saw the construction fence and assumed it was closed. Maybe that's why it wasn't as full? We went to DL on Saturday just to eat and finish up the Easter Egg scavenger hunt. When we rounded Star Tours we saw the fence and turned around to go to Red Rose. Never thought to see if it was open inside.

So do I. But in nine days, I'm not sure that can be accomplished. Then again, maybe they'll have it worked 24-7. We'll see in about a month.
