Alice in Wonderland not released at cinema!!!!

It seems, from this article, that they MAY have reached a decision with Cineworld to show AiW. Others still uncertain.

Makes for interesting reading, on both sides of the argument. I can see why the cinemas have chosen to do this, but can also see Disney point of view too. Going to be a tough battle this one I think!

Phewf! I'll be in that cinema on March 5th watching it no problems then. :3dglasses

I can also see why they're doing it, but really they're not hurting Disney (in fact probably helping them -it's one of the most hyped film of the year) and not showing it at the cinema would boost DVD sales because everyone knows about it.

I agree with you there. They certainly do charge a premium.
I don't know if our local cinema is unique but they do allow you to take your own refreshments in.

They do, although I have never understood the need to munch through an entire film.

I know who I'm putting my money on to win the war of words :thumbsup2

Vue may learn a harsh lesson in finance if they refuse Disney's terms :goodvibes

Cineworld will be showing it after reaching an agreement. I have just read on their website:thumbsup2

Disney will be pushing for digital downloads in the not to distance future. No packing costs, easy distribution and a market that remains largely untapped :)

I read this somewhere recently, but you can add me to the list of those who will be surprised if the boycott actually goes ahead. Respect to the British cinema chains, though, for making a stand - Disney actually has a lot more to lose than they do if they stick to their guns. Box Office revenue accounts for more than that from DVD sales.

I've seen both Up and Avatar in 3D and, whilst I wouldn't have considered not going for the 3D option, I can't say I was really aware of it beyond the initial couple of minutes in either case. The trailer for Alice in Wonderland, though, had me thinking it would be criminal not to see it in 3D - it looks as though they've really made the most of the technology, so I hope the two sides can come to an agreement.

It was on the news this morning that Odeon will NOT be showing it.

No mention of any others so I assume they will all still be showing it, my local Cineworld is selling tickets for it so I can't see them pulling out now.

it was on the itv news last night as well, such a shame

Cineworld says they've come to an agreement with Disney and they'll be showing it. It seems that VUE will be showing it as well, so hopefully it's just Odeon that's out.

I think Odeon are very brave for taking on Disney like this.

We will be hopefully going to the Birmingham Imax to see it :)

Odeon is now showing the film reported on BBC new website.

Get a choice of where to watch it now.
