Which is a better Italian meal? We are on the dining plan and currently have an ADR at Alfredo's, however, it seems to be getting just so-so reviews. Of course, when I considered Mama Melrose, the reviews for that described a very medicore restaurant as well. Which do you prefer? I would consider switching my ADR to Mama Melrose, if it is substantially better than Alfredos. I didn't book the Fantasmic package this year because none of the restaurant choices were appealing, so is Mama Melrose any better than Alfredos?

Mama Melrose!!!!!!!!!!! Alfredo's in Italy was just horrible, the food and the service. We were treated pretty rudely when they left out the LUNCH menu outside when we were choosing there to eat. It wasn't the prices that we cared about, it was the food since it changes between lunch and dinner. When we went to order and saw the menu totally different we were confused. In the end we didn't complain, but the food we did order came out pretty plain and not the best tasting. On the other hand... Mama Meloroses had GREAT service and great food! We always try eating there at least twice a trip since it's a great experience!

Mama's, IMHO. The food at Alfredo's is okay, but overpriced and the service is below par. We've been there twice - lunch and dinner. While Mama's food is not anything special, it is certainly okay and the atmosphere and service very convivial.

We have been to MM on every trip and we love it. I tried Alfredos last year with the CP Package (had done it twice before and liked it but that was a long time ago). I was a bit worried after all the reviews I had heard, but both my mother and I enjoyed it very much. I will do it agin this year with the package.

Overall I do prefer MM, but Alfredos was very good.

I've had disappointing meals at both places, but I'd choose Mama Melrose because the service was much better there.

I was wondering the same things about these two places. I had a reservation
at Alfredo's & just switched it MaMa Melrose. Now I am considering Tony's.
I'm wondering now if that would be a better choice?? The problem is that everyone has different tastes. I guess you won't really know unless you
try them yourself. I still don't know what we should do. I have picky eaters
& would like to please everyone when possible.

Exactly! While reading reviews and experiences of other is always helpful, I think everyone should try anything that itnerests them for themselves to form their own opinion.

FWIW, we went to Tonys once and wont go back. ;)

In our experience the food and service at MM were horrible. Not just differing taste expectations but dried out chicken, soggy breading, stale tasting desserts, stale bread, undercooked flatbreads, wilted and very salty salad. Kids didn't even think the plain pasta or ice cream were good. We are going between Alfredos and Coral Reef for our upcoming trip. Most of the negatives at Alfredos seem to be service and setup of the restaurant and food not being what is expected ie alfredo is not a creamy white sauce there like at Olive Garden, but we only like the real Italian version anyway. In reading reviews most of the highly positives at MM were from longer ago or were not using the Fantasmic Package. I can deal with Olive Garden level food no problem but there is no excuse for stale, overcooked, and undercooked everything. It seems like many of the issues with Tony's and Coral Reef are what you are getting for the price which on the dining plan doesn't matter.

Alfredo's is our all time favorite restaurant...including the entire world, not just WDW. :earsboy:

I second that!! :thumbsup2

my mom and I ate at MM last fall and were so incredibly disappointed, mostly with the service...we fell in love  with Alfredo's immediately.

Another vote towards MM. We did Alferdos once. Not again. Service was lousy and there wasnt a handful of diners in the place. So no excuse there. Food was OK, not worth the price though. DD loved her Fettucine Alfredo but thinks MMs is just as good if not better. Alfredo sauce isnt on menu at MM but if you ask, they will fix.

I would say Alfredo's. We love them- the Alfredo, soup, and salads we've gotten have always been good. The shrimp in vodka sauce is very good and we've always enjoyed the desserts... and the servers  The Alfredo is to die for, but is very rich and heavy.

When we ate at MM, DH couldn't find anything on the menu and I felt my food was kind of blah. It was a place I wanted to try for ages and just wasn't that impressed. We've thought about giving it a go for lunch one time and then making the return/not to return again decision.

I prefer Alfredo's over Mama Melrose. I thought Mama Melrose was generic Italian food and thought Alfredo's did a good job serving good Italian food. I love going at night when there is entertainment, the place is such fun and the waiters get in the act, I think they have improved the food over the years I have been going there......I went to Mama Melrose for lunch and thought no big deal.

We love MM for late luch and you used to be able to get into fantasmic with your stub, that may have changed by now. I though Alfredos was OK food but great entertainment. Tough choice.
