Alfredo's closing permanently?

As usual, Horace is a bastion of sensibility.

And remember, even true rumors do not always come to pass.

I dunno about this. :confused3

I can not find one other single source or confirmation of this when searching Google.

While it doesn't surprise me that CM's in Dining or CRO might not know about it, (seems like they are sometimes that last ones to know something) it does surprise me that if true, I can't find anything else to support it.

If you have your heart set on Alfredo's, I would make other plans, if another high quality Italian restaurant will do, I would advise to wait and see.

I hope that they don't close. We had one of our best meals there in December. The service and food was excellent. The staff was super friendly with the kids and us. We closed the place (and Epcot) down and it was such a fun night.

We will be there in 2 days and eating there Friday night. So we will try and find out anything....we also have an insider that might be able to clue us in. We will report back if there is anything worth noting.

I guess I was too subtle, if you want to eat at Alfredo's after July, I would go ahead and make other plans. ;)

If you will be happy with a nice Italian restaurant, leave your ADRs and wait and see what happens.

Spit it out Sammie! ;)

It has been officially announced internally!

Just because the dining cast member's systems have not been updated with the information - does not make the news false! Look how long they waited to inform guests when they closed French Quarter. We all knew long before reserved guests.

I would say your guess is accurate and the info posted on another forum was a premature leak. :rolleyes1

My hubby came across this on Intercot today and told me the sad news on the way home. That is our Anniversary restaurant - it's tradition!!! I am severly bummed!!! After reading many of the posts here, it is seeming that it is truethat it was leaked, but I'm still sort of in denial. sniff...

I think I like it more for the sentimentality than the food, but the Fetticcini Alfredo, the original, was our favorite dining treat- and the waiters always sing to us for our Anniversaries there. Glad we went last May when we were there celebrating our 15th, since we won't be back there this May and will miss out on one final meal there.

Not sure if we'll give the new place a chance or just let the memories be for that location.

I guess with Disney, subject to change is always possible.

I mean they have changed their minds before. But I would say it would be a good idea if you don't want to substitute another Italian restaurant for Alfredo's to make other plans.

As to upsetting guests, yes some will be upset, others will be very glad. Can't please everyone I guess.

Very True Sammie, I just hope that they put something there that will be accepted and well liked. . . .and hopefully stay authentic

Interesting.;) I can live with that. As long as it is good Italian, I'm not worried about the name of the restaurant.

Does anybody know if they would be changing everything overnight or if it would end up closed for a remodel?

I would think some sort of remodel would be in order, thus leaving those of us with July/Aug ressies high & dry, as it were.

Sounds like time for plan B to me!

Oh the suspense is killing me!!! Do tell, wouldn't you? Pretty please with a cherry on top!

I'd be very disappointed if this were true. We do this restaurant every trip and have never had bad food or service -- quite the contrary we always have great waiter interaction.

I hope whatever they do they keep the outdoor seating area.

Any idea what the down time will be? Any rumors that the restaurant might go to buffet or character?

I wouldn't think Disney would have to close the restaurant very long, if at all, if Disney was going to just take over running the restaurant. Change the signs, change the menu and change anything with a logo.

Either is a possibility, but we've been given very strong hints, by a consistently reliable source, that in this case the change will be "overnight".

All I know is that the comments listed by the OP, are in fact the press release. I don't know why it is closing, or the specifics of what will happen when it closes as to the switch to the new restaurant. I am not sure that all of that has been finalized at this time.

I was told basically the same thing as the press release. I am confident that Disney will replace it with something that will be well liked by some and disliked by others. ;)
