I don't know how this works into this discussion but I was told that the waitstaff now receive 18% tip but it's given to them in their paychecks - meaning, it has taxes taken out and they don't get it immediately like they would if you give them cash.
For that reason, we will be armed with cash on hand for excellent service. 18% is lower then we would tip for excellent service at home so I would want to give more than that anyways at WDW.
